The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 27: Ch : The Invitation - Part 3
The car stopped in front of a fancy restaurant with rich landscape and imported trees dominating the view.
It felt like the kind of place where rich young masters came to waste their money and impress other people.
As soon as Rhiner got out of the car, he came toward my side to open the door for me. I thanked him for it and got out.
A valet came out to take our car to the parking lot and before we could enter the restaurant, another person came out and bowed before us. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"Sirs, please follow me and I will show you to your table. May I check your booking number?"
The alpha dressed as the butler asked, and Rhiner gave him the slip. The butler checked it using his machine before his eyes widened just a little, almost as if he was seeing a celebrity.
’Ah well, in current times, top hunters are much more famous than any celebrity, so this does not surprise me. Though, I do wish he would stop shooting me that dirty look.’
I noticed quickly that although the alpha butler looked at Rhiner as if he hung moons and stars, the same treatment was not reserved for me.
The butler was polite, but his eyes looked sharp and accusing, almost as if asking me what I was doing here with someone this famous.
It made me wonder if the butler would say anything to me.
But much to my relief, the butler did not say or do anything. Rather, he outright ignored my existence as he welcomed us inside.
"Sir, your V.V.I.P. room is ready. Please, follow me and let me know if you need anything."
The butler led us through the side passage toward an elevator well hidden from the public, and we were able to head to the dinner section without anyone knowing we were even here.
"I chose this hotel because it is really good at helping people maintain their privacy. I thought you would also like a place like this."
Rhiner finally spoke up, and he sounded a little bit bashful and hopeful at the same time.
He also sounded nervous, which made me smile a little.
"This place seems nice. But I would only be able to truly rate it once I eat some food. That is the most important part of any restaurant, after all."
Rhiner laughed a little at my words, but the butler did not seem to appreciate them. Still, he was polite enough not to comment on anything and led us to our room.
It was a decent-sized room, with only a table for two near the window. The butler pulled out the chair for Rhiner first and discreetly pretended as if I were not there.
Not that I minded.
However, Rhiner did seem to mind. But instead of scolding the butler for it, he decided to be a gentleman and pull my chair out himself.
Once I was seated, I immediately looked outside the window and watched as the city lights reflected on my window glass, even so high up.
"Butler, I would like to order in a few minutes through the intercom. You can leave us now."
Rhiner assured the butler, and the alpha looked a little annoyed by this. However, now that he had been dismissed, he could also not find any reason to stay here anymore.
He quickly left the room, but not before he gave my normal clothes a look-over.
As soon as the door closed behind him, Rhiner let out a sigh.
"I apologize for bringing you here. I only booked this place because I heard so much praise for it from my fellow hunters. If I knew how rude and prideful these people were, I would have chosen another place."
Rhiner looked frustrated after what had just happened. It seemed to be his first time seeing his partner being treated rudely so openly.
’Well, I am sure anyone whom Rhiner invited before would have done their best to dress up to impress him. Unfortunately for him, I have no desire to fit into his ideal type that won’t bring him shame.’
Just because Rhiner was kind enough to ignore my humble appearance did not mean others would be as well. Especially those who had a reputation to uphold, like the employees of an elite restaurant.
"Shall we go to another place? I am sure I can get a booking—"
"No, it’s fine. Since we’re already here, we might as well dine here. I am sure the food will more than make up for it."
I assured Rhiner as I picked up the menu... and almost slammed it back down, because what the heck were those prices.
I did not even think it was humanly possible to sell a simple food for so much money. Why was a simple plate of white rice almost 100 dollars? What were they putting in there? Gold?
My expression must have been something worrisome because Rhiner looked concerned, and he reached out toward me to grab the menu.
"I think I should order for us both. I’ve done some research and found out that they’re famous for their high-end food."
At that point, I had stopped paying attention to the food list and handed control over to Rhiner. But before that, I gave him a sharp look to clarify.
"You will be paying for all this, right?"
I asked, and he nodded, although a little taken aback.
"Of course. I was the one who invited you out, so it is only fair that I should treat you as well."
The alpha had enough decency to say these words, and I relaxed.
When the food finally arrived, I almost did not want to eat it because it reminded me of how much money it had cost.
But the fact that I had not been the one to pay for it made it easier to swallow.
The food was nothing special, but the taste of money made it worth it. Now I could tell why everyone said the food here was good, even if it was not—those people were trying to convince themselves that the money they spent was worth it.
Once the food finished, Rhiner ordered some dessert, and while waiting, he looked at me with a serious look.
It was time for us to talk about whatever Rhiner had dragged us here to talk about, and I felt ready.
"So, Kyle... about that dungeon and Kara... let me begin by apologizing to you. We were never supposed to put you in danger, and Kara was supposed to protect you. But then she followed me inside and left you all alone. Now that she is no longer here, I feel like it is my duty to apologize to you on her behalf."
Rhiner gave a small bow toward me before he looked at me once more.
"That being said, I wanted to offer you this money as compensation as well as an offer to join my team as a civilian secretary. It will give you more benefits and also offer you more of a chance to grow."
The alpha pushed the offer letter toward me with a small smile on his face.
