Chapter 107: Ch 107: Awkward Moment- Part 5

’Fuck-! Did I overestimate myself? How does Dan handle all these orders anyway?’

I cursed in my mind as I prepared the food from scratch as new orders kept pouring inside the kitchen.

At this point, I already had more than 5 unstarted orders and 3 that were about to finish. Just as I finished the third dish, another order came in, causing me to feel trapped.

"Emma, you might want to slow down on the orders. I don’t think I can keep up here."

I told Emma as I tried to keep up with what was happening. And Emma looked sorry to see how busy I was at the moment.

"Ah-! Sorry for this mess, Kyle. I will tell people that we are not taking any orders for now. Should I send Ben here to help you as well?"

She asked and I shook my head.

"No-! That won’t be necessary for now. I can handle all this on my own. But if you truly want to help me out, can you just...slow things down out there?"

The lack of preparation before opening truly was coming to bite me in the back.

Usually, the vegetables that were to be put into the dishes were prepared beforehand and the meat was ground to make it tender.

But now I had to do it while cooking which was a major time waste.

It was a wonder Dan was able to do all this without any special kind of powers. Chefs truly were terrifying with their ability to handle so many orders.

As I worked, I lost myself in my task. The easy chatter of the café kept me company as more and more dishes kept flowing out of the kitchen.

Theo even came around a few times but he looked guilty the whole time he saw me working. I also gave him a glare for putting me in this situation, but nothing much happened after that.

As I worked, I kept an ear open for any gossip that might turn out to be useful in the future. But the most interesting gossip I heard was about a couple’s divorce over their lack of children.

Not that I had much interest in it. Children were not a topic I had ever thought about, but how would raising a child feel like...?

I was a little lost in my thoughts so I was late to notice when the chatter outside stopped and people gasped as they called out Lynn’s name.

However, I did realize that something was wrong when I heard Lynn’s cold voice addressing someone.

"-How may I help you?"

Theo asked the person and his voice seemed to be closer than ice. I felt taken aback by the way he spoke, but as soon as I heard the other voice, things started to make sense.

"I wanted to talk to Kyle. Can I borrow him for a minute? I promise it won’t take long."

Lynn told Theo and I could imagine the ever-present smile on his face as he spoke. He was an annoying man, but he sure knew how to present himself.

Theo, on the other hand, had no intention of playing nice with him.

"I’m sorry but Kyle is busy at the moment. So please come back later when Kyle is free."

Lynn just hummed at Theo’s warning and I had a feeling that the No. 2 hunter looked in my direction before turning back toward Lynn.

"Hmm, so Kyle is busy right now? What a pity because I truly wanted to meet him and talk to him. Ah-! But I guess I will have to come back later to do that?"

Lynn asked and Theo’s cold voice went even colder.

"Please, don’t come back if possible. I don’t think you are compatible with Kyle. You should find someone else to pay attention to."

I had never heard Theo speak like this so I felt surprised to hear him speak. But Lynn just laughed Theo’s words off with a scoff and a smile.

"Ah-! You sure are amusing, kid. And I can see why Kyle is so fond of you. But there are situations where people like you need to keep out of. And this is one of them, alright? Now, if you understand, please step back."

Lynn told Theo and I felt the cracking tension reach me in the kitchen. I debated what I should do—whether to go out and resolve the situation or stay here and wait for things to calm down.

Ultimately, the decision was made for me when Emma entered the kitchen and gave me a sorry look on her face.

"Kyle, I know you are busy here, but can you head out and help us a little bit? I am afraid Theo is biting more than he can chew at the moment."

Emma told me and I nodded at her words. I was worried about Theo as well and I knew Lynn was not someone Theo could handle on his own.

"Sure Emma. Just give me a second to get this last batch out before I follow you out."

I told her as I finished with the food and plated it. Emma gave me a relaxed look before she exited the kitchen.

When I reached the café hall, I could feel the tension in the air. The people around us were filming this interaction with their phones ready and I used a little bit of my power to delete the footage and turn their attention away.

I reached the bickering pair before they could react and I grabbed Lynn’s arm to drag him away.

"Stop bickering with Theo and come with me. Theo, I am handing you the café situation for now, so please take care of it. I will be back in a few minutes."

I assured Theo and he looked panicked before he reached for my arm to grab it and tug it.

"Kyle, don’t go-! Please, don’t leave me here alone."

Theo begged as he looked at me and then at the alpha behind me. And his pleas made me feel weak. I wanted to oblige him this time and my grip on Lynn went weak as I took a step toward Theo.

But Lynn had no intention of letting me go. He grabbed my arm to tug me toward himself with a smile.

"Ah, I apologize but I do not have a lot of time to be fooling around. So we need to head out now, Kyle. I promise I won’t take much of your time."

The alpha promised and before Theo could say anything, Lynn had dragged me out of the café and back toward his guild.

Luckily, it was just across the street so the humiliation was minimal. But there were bigger problems than that I was facing at the moment.

Like...the fact that one of the most renowned hunters just dragged me behind them as if I weighed nothing.

"Hey-! You can let me go now. I think you have done enough damage to your reputation already. There is no need to sink even lower at this point."

I told Lynn and he tightened his grip on me before letting me go.
