Chapter 106: Ch 106: Awkward Moment- Part 4

Kyle left Kuro to Theo before he left the room. The cat paused even breathing as he was held in his master’s arms.

Calm human eyes looked back at Kuro but they did nothing to ease his worry. If anything, he felt even more scared compared to before.

"B-Boss, I did not mean to...I have nothing to do with your omega. I am not even human...please forgive me."

Kuro was quick to apologize but Theo only blinked at him with calm eyes.

"Hmm, what do you mean by that? I never accused you of anything, right? Or, do you have a guilty conscience and you need to confess something to me?"

Theo asked and Kuro realized that he was falling into a trap. And a trap that had an almost guaranteed chance for him to not be able to recover.

So before things could turn bad, he decided to beg as if his life depended on it.

"M-Master-! Please-! You know that’s not true. The only reason I got close to that human is because you asked me to. There is no other reason. You have to believe me. I am even willing to give up my life to prove my point."

Kuro assured and Theo just hummed.

Even though the gaze that looked at him felt human, the creature behind that façade was anything but human.

The gentle, human Theo had taken a backseat at the moment and his lord was looking at him.

"Ah-! I’m not worried about a worm like you. I know that there is nothing you can do that could cause me trouble anyway. As for Kyle...no matter how much he tried to run away from me, he won’t be able to do that. In the end, he would have no choice but to come back to me anyway."

Theo spoke with a hum in his voice. He sounded sure of himself and proud at the same time.

Kuro, who heard that, felt a shiver go down his spine. His master was in a dangerous mood at the moment.

"A-Ah I see...I shall take my leave now, master. I will see you soon...?"

Kuro asked as he wiggled his body and Theo dropped him down.

"Sure, stay close to Kyle and report anything that happens. Ah, and keep doing your job of not letting people close to Kyle, alright? I don’t want to dispose of more humans than necessary."

Theo told Kuro and Kuro shivered at the warning. His master was clearly telling him what he needed to do here.

"Y-Yes master-! I will make sure to take care of that."

Theo promised before he disappeared from the view. Theo’s eyes watched the demon go before he turned around and went for his walk.

Halfway through, the entity decided to hand the control back to Theo. But not before he had given his next instructions to his underlings.

The demons might have intelligence, but they were also creatures of habit and extremely loyal. Theo had to just nudge them in the right direction and they would follow most of the time.

"Hmm, for now, it’s time for me to head back. Kyle might be worried about me being out so late."

Theo sighed as he looked at himself before he started to walk back. And as soon as he switched, the human part of him looked around with a confused face.

"Huh-! When and how did I get here? What is going on?"

But there was no one around to answer his questions.

________

"Home-! We are finally back home. Are you both not happy to be here once more?"

Emma asked as she opened the shop for Kyle and Theo to enter. She also felt the awkwardness in the air, but unlike the alpha-omega pair in front of her, she scoffed it off and decided to be positive.

"Ah, it’s good to be home. Is there anything I can help you with, Emma?"

I asked Emma as she moved around the place and cleaned things up.

"In that case, can you get the back section Kyle...well, never mind. I will get to it. You can sit and relax for now."

The beta lady looked up from the counter as she spoke. But she suddenly changed her mind with an almost embarrassed look on her face.

I recognized that look because I had gotten it a lot from others—it was a look that told me she was being considerate of me...which was all well and good, except that I did not want her to be like that toward me.

"Back section, right? I will get to it. I have some time on my hands."

I joked around as I went to grab the cloth to clean the section Emma mentioned.

Emma looked panicked and she reached her hand toward me but I was not going to stop so easily.

"Kyle, let me help as well. The back section is big. Between both of us, we can get it taken care of in no time."

Theo joined me and Emma lost her chance to protest.

She could say no to me but Theo was a different case. He was too innocent and pure for Emma to ignore how she liked.

In the end, Emma just sighed as she looked at me and Theo working.

"Sorry, I did not want you both to be working as soon as you return, but there you are. I will make sure this does not happen again."

Emma told us with a sigh and an annoyed voice. Her helpless situation was getting to her. But I had a feeling that it had more to do with the fact that I was Ace.

After all, she never had a problem commanding us to do something that was needed.

"Emma, we are not hurt or in a condition where we cannot help. And you can’t keep working all alone like you are. You hired us and already got used to us, right? Besides, I don’t think Kyle feels bad about working here."

Theo assured Emma and her worried expression eased a little bit.

She looked at Theo and then at my hand that had the cleaning cloth and then sighed.

"Y-You are right. It’s just...I need time to come to terms with Kyle and Ace being the same person and not to treat them differently...alright, I got it. Let’s get done with cleaning first."

Emma told us and we got back to work.

It was exhausting to clean the café, but it felt rewarding as the clean place looked back at us.

A small crowd was starting to form outside the café, waiting for us to open so that they could sit and start their day.

Emma just shook her head as she looked at the crowd before she stood up to walk toward them.

"Let me go and tell them all that the café won’t open today—"

"It should be fine. We can open the café today. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of staff and Kyle knows how to cook anyway."

Theo spoke and I felt surprised that he was willing to throw me under the bus like that.

Even Emma looked surprised before she chuckled at Theo’s words.

"You are right. We should open the café now."
