Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Waiting to Have Dinner Together

Documents are truly tedious things, Holly Sawyer fell asleep with her head on the table while looking at them.

Leo Grant watched as the young lady fell asleep; not wanting to disturb her, he just quietly watched her.

The young lady’s eyelashes were long and slightly curled, and her sleeping appearance was like a little cat that loved to sleep, irresistibly adorable.

Leo gently pulled out the documents that Holly had reviewed, thinking the young lady might not understand much, but upon seeing the documents she had handled, Leo felt a bit conflicted.

The young lady actually understood all these things.

He was unsure why the young lady came to him or what her previous identity was; it was quite a mystery.

"Young Master, it’s time to eat."

Mrs. Hayes, having prepared the meal, knocked on Leo’s door and then entered.

"Shh, the young lady is asleep."

Leo placed his index finger on his lips and spoke softly.

He didn’t want to disturb the young lady’s sleep; she looked quite tired.

Mrs. Hayes nodded and then left the room, a smile glimmering in her eyes as she turned around.

Their young master, it seems he really is about to fall. Unknowingly, he’s become attached to Miss Sawyer, and he probably hasn’t even realized it himself.

"Mrs. Hayes, keep the food warm. Holly will be hungry when she wakes up."

Leo stepped out of the study and spoke softly to Mrs. Hayes.

The young lady was asleep, and he didn’t want to disturb her, but once she woke up she’d surely be hungry. After all, the young lady has quite an affinity for food, like a little foodie.

"Alright, got it."

Mrs. Hayes agreed quickly.

"Young Master, aren’t you going to eat?"

As she saw Leo planning to turn back into the study, Mrs. Hayes called out.

It was dinnertime, and Mrs. Hayes had always been in the habit of preparing meals on time, ready by mealtime.

"I’ll wait until Holly wakes up to eat together."

Leo shook his head and then walked back into the study.

The young lady was asleep; how could he eat alone? He definitely had to wait for her to wake up and eat together.

Mrs. Hayes: "..."

Indeed, he’s fallen.

She placed the best dishes in the warming box, then went off to attend to other matters.

No matter how cold a person is, they will eventually meet someone they can treat with every ounce of their tenderness.

——

Holly Sawyer slept until eight in the evening. She moved her slightly sore arms and neck and stretched lazily.

After laying her head down for so long, her arms were sore, and her neck had a bit of a strained, uncomfortable feeling.

Her stomach also growled; she was a bit hungry.

"Awake?"

Above her came Leo Grant’s gentle voice, filled with a smile, looking warmly at Holly, his expression exceptionally soft.

"Brother..."

Holly’s voice was still sweet and soft, tinged with the residual laziness of sleep.

Her drowsy eyes, accompanied by her soft voice, made Leo instantly want to pull the little girl in front of him into a hug.

"Are you hungry?"

Leo’s large palm gently caressed Holly’s head, restraining the impractical thoughts in his heart.

The young lady should be hungry after sleeping for so long.

"Mhm."

Holly nodded like a little pecking chicken, rubbing her slightly hungry stomach with her hands, her face full of grievance.

Hungry.

In the face of delicious food, everything else is insignificant; this was Holly’s truest reflection inside.

"Come on, let’s go downstairs to eat."

Leo naturally took Holly’s hand, a slight curve to his lips, eyes filled with a smile.

His movements were especially natural. The young girl’s hand was small, tender, smooth, and felt quite good to hold.

This hand, he wanted to hold it forever and ever.

"Okay."

Holly’s eyes curved into crescents, and upon hearing there was food, her sleepiness vanished instantly, and she became awake.

Nothing could stand in the way of food; even when tired, she could wake up quickly at the mention of eating.

Perhaps this was the nature of a foodie.

Mrs. Hayes was busy in the kitchen and poked her head out when she heard the sounds of the stairs. "The dishes are in the warming box; they’re still hot."

"Alright," Leo’s voice was mild, "It’s quite late, Mrs. Hayes, you should rest."

Seeing Mrs. Hayes’ busy figure, Leo commented.

In truth, he always treated Mrs. Hayes like family, so she shouldn’t have to be so busy; she should rest well when necessary.

"It’s alright, once I’m done here, I’ll rest."

Mrs. Hayes shook her head, mentioning that sometimes she would prepare the next day’s breakfast the night before, just needing to heat it in the morning.

"Is it tomorrow’s breakfast?"

Holly blinked and leaned in by Mrs. Hayes’ side to ask, her eyes bright.

Mrs. Hayes nodded, "Yes, that’s right."

"What delicious things does Mrs. Hayes plan to make?"

Holly asked expectantly, her mind already imagining delicious things upon seeing the dough.

"What does Holly want to eat?"

Mrs. Hayes’ eyes held a smile, and she looked at Holly with tender eyes.

The more she looked at Holly now, the more she liked her; without any accidents, the position of the Grant Family’s young mistress would be Holly’s. Though it depended on the young lady having no objections.

However, the young lady was so innocent; it would be easy to charm her, right?

"I want to eat dumplings; I don’t mind the filling, I’m not picky."

Holly bit her lip lightly, speaking slowly.

Indeed, she wasn’t picky and didn’t have any food restrictions.

"Alright, I’ll make dumplings for you. Go eat your meal, Holly. It’s very late, and you should be hungry. If you’re not, the young master must be hungry, he’s been waiting to have dinner with you."

Mrs. Hayes’ face was filled with a kind smile, speaking slowly and looking at Leo with a significant look.

If Leo didn’t seize the opportunity, she was certainly willing to help; Holly needed to know Leo’s goodness to hold onto her.

"Ah, brother hasn’t eaten either?"

Holly turned, looking at Leo with a face full of confusion, blinking at him, her small face full of surprise.

"Mhm, waiting for you."

Leo nodded and said calmly.

Since the young girl hadn’t gotten up for dinner, he had to wait.

"Then why didn’t brother eat earlier? What if I woke up really late? Brother must be hungry; let’s go have dinner now."

Holly lightly bit her lip, her voice soft as she reached out to hold Leo’s hand, walking quickly toward the dining room.

Leo slightly curved his lips, a smile on his face; the young girl initiated holding his hand this time.

The young girl’s hand soft and tender, the difference between initiating and being initiated to hold hands made him feel warm inside.
