The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 55: The Little Girl Knows a Lot
"Why are you standing at the door and not coming in, hmm?"
Leo Grant sensed someone at the door, and when he lifted his eyes, he saw Holly Sawyer, his lips curling into a smile.
His voice was unexpectedly gentle, with a hint of weariness, sounding somewhat lazy.
"I was afraid of disturbing you, big brother."
Holly stepped in quietly, her voice soft, with a sincere glow in her eyes.
Hmm, the way Leo looked while working was quite eye-catching. She wanted to watch him a bit longer.
Leo shook his head, "You won’t."
Others might disturb him, but Holly never would. In fact, he liked being disturbed by Holly.
"Didn’t you finish today’s work, big brother?"
Holly moved closer, glancing at the pile of files on Leo’s desk and then at his lit-up computer screen.
Hmm, it seemed really exhausting, she felt sorry for Leo.
Leo: "Just a bit more."
Holly tilted her head at Leo, blinking lightly.
She actually knew how to handle these things too, but she was usually too lazy to manage them.
"Let me help you, Holly."
Holly pulled a chair with especial thoughtfulness and sat beside Leo, reaching out to grab the files on his desk.
"Okay."
Leo smiled, not opposing.
Whether the little girl understood or not didn’t matter; as long as she was happy, that was enough. Even if she didn’t understand and it added to his burden, it didn’t matter.
Holly was surprised at how promptly Leo agreed but didn’t overthink it, picking up the files on the desk and starting to read seriously.
"Brother, let me see your handwriting."
After finishing a file, Holly turned her head to Leo.
Leo pushed a signed document toward Holly, and she glanced at it, then smoothly signed Leo’s name on the document she had read.
Almost identical, only a slight difference in the brush strokes which one wouldn’t notice without careful scrutiny.
"Brother, does it look alike?"
Holly pushed the signed name to Leo, grinning as she looked at him, resembling someone eager to receive praise.
Leo was momentarily stunned when he saw the handwriting, raising his eyes incredulously to look at Holly.
So alike. For a moment, he almost thought it was his handwriting, not Holly’s.
It looked exactly the same.
The little girl’s ability to mimic handwriting was impressive.
"Can you write this?"
Leo pulled out another document, which bore Noah Raines’ signature, placing it in front of Holly, asking.
He wanted to find out if it was a fluke or if the little girl genuinely had this skill.
"Mm-hmm."
Holly nodded and quickly mimicked Noah Raines’ writing as well, looking just the same.
"So the little girl can mimic someone’s handwriting just by looking, hmm?"
Leo reached out, gently ruffling Holly’s hair, speaking in a soft and tender voice.
"Maybe."
Holly hesitated for a moment, then scratched her head, blinking slightly uncertain.
She truly had the skill, but she didn’t want to answer so confidently in front of Leo.
"Hmm."
Leo didn’t ask further, continuing with his work, and Holly didn’t disturb him, helping him review the files.
She was very meticulous, examining each detail thoroughly.
"Brother, we should aim for a twenty percent profit margin here; fifteen percent seems a bit low."
Holly pointed to a spot on the document, slowly speaking, her tone sincere and innocent.
Leo glanced at where Holly pointed, looking at her in surprise, "The little girl understands this, too."
His tone carried amusement, gentle and breezy like a stroke of wind.
The little girl indeed understood quite a bit.
"Isn’t it so?"
Holly didn’t answer Leo’s question directly but instead responded with a question of her own, her eyes as bright and expressive as ever.
Those eyes were bright, almost as if they could speak.
Leo answered, "Yes, you’re right."
"Holly, tell me why we should do it this way."
Leo ruffled Holly’s hair again, smiling as he asked, his eyes soft with warmth.
Holly blinked, looking perplexed, gently biting her lip and furrowing her brow as if lost in thought.
"I can’t figure it out; I just feel it’s right."
After a long pause, Holly spoke, biting her lip, her face showing the struggle of a student stumped by a math problem.
Leo continued to ask, "Don’t you have any basis for this, Holly?"
Everything should have a basis.
Holly replied innocently, "You need a basis?"
"Never mind."
Leo shook his head, deciding not to pursue the matter further.
The little girl didn’t want to explain, so he wouldn’t press her.
He would wait until Holly was ready to be honest with him, believing that day would come.
He wasn’t in a hurry; he could wait patiently because it was for Holly. He felt it was worth it, just hoping for a good outcome.
Holly blinked, having prepared more excuses, surprised that Leo stopped questioning.
Hmm, she understood and could see through the business world’s tricks and whether a cooperation profit margin would be a loss at a glance.
Many at The Pantheon had said she was well-suited for business and the workplace; if she pursued this field, she’d achieve great things.
But she was lazy and not very fond of it, managing occasionally was fine, but she couldn’t do it in the long term.
"Brother, do you have to look at these files every day and handle so much daily?"
Holly tilted her head at Leo, blinking with innocent curiosity like a clueless child.
Leo answered, "Yes, more or less."
Life is like that, always busy, with endless work and files to review daily.
Some might think it’s easy, but it isn’t. Managing such a large company as a central unit is bound to be tiring.
Sometimes, free time comes from finishing the piles of files or delegating tasks to Noah Raines for help.
"Brother, you work so hard. How about I help you in the future?"
Holly blinked, speaking with innocent enthusiasm, her eyes shining with pure joy.
Leo smiled, "Okay."
The word "future" sounded wonderful, making him feel joyful.
He hoped that in the future, he could see his little girl daily, that the villa would echo with her laughter.
He hoped for a future that was lifelong and everlasting.
