The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 134: My People Are Yours
By mid-December, Leo will be returning to Arkenfall, and Holly will be accompanying him. The days are drawing nearer.
Holly doesn’t have much of an emotional attachment; Bexley has always felt like a city she’s been visiting for a few months.
Even though she was born in this city.
Leo, Noah, and Nathaniel were discussing matters in the study while Holly, feeling restless, leaned on the sofa, playing a casual game to pass the time.
Simply to while away the hours.
Now Leo is free to discuss matters openly in front of Holly without any reservations.
"They won’t let you return to the Grant Family’s old home unharmed."
Nathaniel lightly shook his head and said.
The last time Leo returned, it was to visit the seriously ill elder. The obstacles were quickly cleared. But this time, it’s different. It feels like a medieval fight for the throne.
So would the Grants really allow Leo to return safely to the old estate? The answer is definitely no.
"I know."
Leo lowered his eyes, his tone somewhat heavy.
He’s not afraid of getting hurt himself, but he really fears the little girl getting hurt.
"The manpower should be sufficient."
Noah lightly tapped the table and spoke slowly.
There are still many people over in Arkenfall.
"I’ve got plenty of people over there."
Holly slightly lifted her gaze and spoke slowly; there are many people on her side in Arkenfall, and most of The Pantheon’s people are concentrated there.
So if Leo needs people, she’s got them.
Noah paused for a moment, turned his head to look at Holly, his lips moved slightly, but he didn’t say much.
He almost forgot Holly’s identity, that Holly is indeed from The Pantheon, overseeing all major and minor affairs there.
At first, Noah had suspected this girl’s identity but was deceived by her sweet and innocent appearance, negating his suspicions. In the end, it turned out to be true.
Holly’s identity is truly not simple.
Nathaniel slightly curved his lips as he looked at Holly, feeling somewhat emotional.
Indeed, karma can be reciprocated. Leo once saved Holly, so Holly returns the favor to Leo.
"No need, brother can handle it himself."
Leo gazed gently at Holly, speaking slowly.
The little girl just needs to stand behind him, and he can handle the troubles himself.
If he always needed the little girl to protect him, how could he protect her?
Holly was silent for a moment, "My people are your people."
When Leo encounters trouble, is she just supposed to hide behind him and enjoy his protection?
Of course not; she feels she should share the burden with Leo. Love is mutual, it’s reciprocal. She doesn’t think she should just enjoy all the benefits Leo brings without giving anything back.
"Brother, you need to understand my purpose."
Holly emphasized again, her tone slightly firm.
Her purpose is obvious, and she had made it clear early on, something Leo also knew.
"Alright, I understand."
Leo nodded, with a particularly gentle smile at the corners of his lips.
Holly created these circumstances just to stay by Leo’s side, just to protect him.
Even though Leo might not need it, her intention to protect him has never changed.
"How many people do you have over there?"
Holly put down her phone, stretched lazily, and spoke slowly, her tone serious.
She has ample numbers at her disposal, and numbers are not a problem. With enough time, if insufficient, she could transfer people from elsewhere.
"How many?"
Leo asked Noah.
Noah usually handled these things; Leo would just directly use them when needed, not concerning himself with the details.
"Roughly, maybe..."
Noah started counting on his fingers, then scratched his head, looking utterly confused.
He indeed hadn’t counted how many people there were as he never felt it was necessary.
Leo: "..."
Nathaniel: "..."
It really seemed somewhat unreliable.
Noah recounted, then the few of them continued discussing, while Holly leisurely played her game.
Decision-making is something they handled; she just provided the people.
"Nancy Miller is looking for me; I’m heading out now."
Holly slowly put down her phone, said a word, and went out.
Nancy had already arrived, right at the doorstep, as Mrs. Hayes had already gone out to buy groceries and wasn’t home.
"Sister."
Nancy was holding a large bag of things. Seeing Holly, she smiled.
"Why are you here?"
Holly invited Nancy in, her smile genuinely gentle.
Nancy rarely came to see her directly; usually, she’d just text or call whenever there was something, arranging a time and place.
"I have something to tell you."
"Things sister likes to eat."
Nancy handed the bag to Holly, her eyebrows showing some reluctance.
It wasn’t good news.
Holly accepted the bag, which contained candied chestnuts, roasted sweet potatoes, and a cup of milk tea, all her favorites.
Holly thanked her: "Thank you."
"Sister, are you going back to Arkenfall?"
Nancy sat down in the living room, glancing around the villa and lightly biting her lip.
The weather was chilly, so Holly poured her a cup of warm water to warm up.
"Yes, from now on, we’ll probably count the days we meet by the year."
Holly slightly curved her lips and said slowly. Arkenfall felt like a city with a sense of belonging.
Bexley was just a temporary stay, entirely viewed as a short-term city, and she never intended to live there.
In comparison, Bexley’s weather is a bit better than Arkenfall, not as excessively cold.
"I can come visit you."
Nancy slightly tilted her head, looking at Holly and saying. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
She really liked Holly and didn’t want to lose contact with her. She hoped their sisterly relationship would continue as it is in the future.
"I’ll also visit Bexley when I have time."
Holly slightly curved her lips.
She deliberately used the word "visit" rather than "return," clearly indicating her sense of belonging was never to Bexley, but to Arkenfall.
"Oh right, sister, the reason I came is because of Miles Miller."
Nancy quickly got to the point, cautiously observing Holly.
"What’s up with him?"
When mentioning Miles Miller, Holly showed no expression, her tone indifferent and emotionless.
Not out of curiosity either. She just asked casually following Nancy’s lead.
"He wants to find you, asked me for your contact, but I didn’t give it to him."
Nancy spoke slowly, carefully observing Holly as if worried she’d get angry.
Holly said nothing, her index finger lightly tapping the table, a cold smile playing at the corners of her lips.
She knew exactly why Miles wanted to find her, as clear as a mirror in her heart.
