The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 133: I’ll Buy for My Girl
The food street was bustling with people coming and going. The winter wind was a bit cold, and Holly Sawyer snuggled tightly in Leo Grant’s embrace. The corners of her mouth carried a faint smile—the taste of happiness.
She didn’t need a passionate love; what she pursued was plain and simple. It was enough to spend the mundane days well with Leo Grant.
"Brother, I want to eat grilled rice cakes."
After finishing the candied chestnuts in her hand, Holly pointed to a stall not far away. The vendor was skillfully frying rice cakes.
She had always had an obsession with food.
"Wait here, brother will get it for you."
Leo Grant stuffed a warm water bottle into Holly’s arms. He stood up and gently rubbed Holly’s head.
He had always fulfilled the little girl’s requests.
Holly held the warm water bottle, sitting on the bench, her smile sweet.
"Why are you with him?"
Suddenly a voice came from above, Henry Hughes’ voice mixed with a bit of disbelief.
He knew Leo Grant, had known him for a long time, and there was a connection between the two of them.
"Does it have anything to do with you?"
The smile on Holly’s face faded as she turned to look at the person behind her, her tone instantly turning cold.
Her attitude depended on who the person was; she could be very gentle or very indifferent.
"The sweeter you smile at him, the colder you are to me."
Henry held a cup of milk tea, looked down at Holly, his lips showing a trace of bitterness.
Very humble.
There’s an old saying: What you keep in mind will eventually echo.
Unfortunately, his persistent thoughts had no echo.
He had liked Holly for a long time, had expressed his feelings numerous times, and Holly rejected him coldly each time.
Maybe it was the more frustrated he got, the more courageous he became, he never thought of giving up. The so-called persistence wears down the stone; he thought he could eventually warm Holly’s heart.
He didn’t expect that after just a few months of not seeing each other, Holly already had someone by her side. She could smile so sweetly at Leo Grant and talk to him in gentle tones.
Holly could be very gentle, very clingy, but that exclusiveness did not belong to him.
"If we’re just friends, I can smile at you too."
Holly was silent for a while, then spoke slowly.
If it weren’t for Henry’s feelings for her, she thought they would be good friends.
Henry was a good person, just not to her taste.
"We can be friends."
Henry was silent for a while, tightly gripping his milk tea, his voice soft.
"Here, grilled rice cakes."
Leo Grant came back quickly, stuffing the grilled rice cakes he bought into Holly’s hands, wrapping her entirely in his arms, with a kind of sense of declaring his territory.
"Brother, you’re back so fast."
Holly’s face lit up, her brows filled with delight.
Her attitude towards Leo Grant was worlds apart from her attitude towards Henry.
Leo Grant’s gaze fixed sharply on Henry, very unfriendly.
Probably the young girl’s admirer.
"Are you cold?"
Leo Grant gently rubbed Holly’s head, his voice full of doting.
The weather outside was cold, and they had been outside for a long time. The little girl must be feeling cold.
Holly nodded lightly, "A little."
Well, she was extremely afraid of the cold. Staying outside for too long really felt cold. She still preferred heated indoors.
Leo asked, "Wanna go back?"
Leo and Holly were finishing each other’s sentences, completely treating Henry as if he were air, as if he didn’t exist.
Holly nodded, "Okay."
"Here’s your milk tea."
Watching Leo and Holly’s interaction, Henry felt like his heart shattered into pieces. He moved his lips, called out to Holly, and handed over the milk tea in his hand.
White peach oolong flavor milk tea, Holly’s favorite taste.
He flew to Bexley after finishing his work just to see Holly, encountering her on the food street purely by accident.
He didn’t expect that after just a few months apart, Holly already had someone by her side.
He didn’t think he was that bad, or that he wasn’t good enough to Holly.
He knew all of Holly’s preferences, remembered everything about Holly.
He knew about Holly’s menstrual cycle, knew she had period cramps, and even prepared brown sugar ginger tea and warm water bottles for her.
He knew Holly liked white peach oolong flavored food, and would always bring Holly different varieties.
He knew...
So many things about Holly, he always cared about.
He did those things to be good to Holly, but Holly never appreciated them. She made her stance clear from the beginning, not sparing any sentiment.
But he thought Holly had no one by her side, so he had been particularly persistent, believing he would have a chance.
"No need, I’ll buy for my little friend myself."
Before Holly could speak, Leo Grant stepped in first, tightly pulling Holly into his arms, his voice slightly cold.
Henry’s fingers tightened as he stared at Holly, holding the milk tea, his hand still raised.
Very painful.
"No need, drink it yourself, the weather is quite cold."
Holly slipped her hand into Leo’s pocket, speaking slowly, her words gentle.
Henry slowly lowered the milk tea in his hand, taking a deep breath, his fingers clenching tightly.
Watching the girl he liked, intimately leaning against someone else, really did make his heart ache.
"Let’s go."
Holly said, then slowly left with Leo Grant.
Henry watched the departing figures of Holly and Leo, silently turned around, and tossed the milk tea into the trash can.
He didn’t like sweets, but he knew Holly did, so he tried to like sweets, tried to have topics to talk about with Holly.
But Holly really didn’t need it.
"Here, hot milk tea."
After walking for quite a distance, Leo Grant magically pulled out a cup of hot milk tea, placing it in Holly’s hands, his tone doting and gentle.
"When did you buy it?"
Holly’s eyes were full of surprise as she looked at the milk tea in her hands, a warm feeling spreading in her heart.
"Guess."
Leo gently rubbed Holly’s head, his eyes filled with smile.
"Guess if I’ll guess."
Holly playfully blinked, took a sip of the milk tea, feeling warm in her heart.
White peach oolong flavor, it was the taste she liked.
Leo Grant: "I bought it when I got the grilled rice cakes."
The little girl liked to drink milk tea; he certainly knew, so he bought a cup for Holly when getting the grilled rice cakes.
"But I didn’t see it."
Holly looked up at Leo, her eyes full of confusion.
She clearly remembered that when Leo came over, he only had grilled rice cakes. There seemed to be nothing else in his hands, definitely no milk tea.
"Brother knows magic tricks."
Leo Grant looked at Holly, smiling very gently.
