Chapter 405: Resemblance

Chris had decided to check out from the hotel he was staying at after conversing with Elandir and Marina that night and moved into his empty new house. The next day he immediately started with his agenda, and that was to get closer to Elsa.

He woke up early to pick Elsa up and he was glad to find her gate wide open. He went in when he saw Wena and Roxanne who greeted him right away, recognizing him from last night.

The kids immediately called out to him from inside the car. "Mr. Chairman! Over here!"

"Good morning! Wow, you are in uniform. Where are you going?" he asked.

"It’s our first day of school. How about you? Where are you going?" Rocco asked in return.

"I was looking for your mom, is she still here?"

It was Wena who answered his question, "Madam is still inside, would like me to call her?"

"Can I go in instead?"

"Sure, she told us to let you in if ever you come. Please go ahead."

Chris went in and saw Elsa on her way out.

"Hey, lonely and hungry already?" Elsa jested.

Chris chuckled and gave her two thumbs up. "I was planning to pick you up so we could have breakfast together but I saw the kids outside."

"Yeah, it’s their first day of school. I will go to work after lunch. Sorry, I can’t join you for breakfast," Elsa casually replied.

"Can I come with you instead? You know, I can go to work after lunch as well," Chris grinned as they walked out of the house.

"Oh yeah, I forgot, you are the owner, you can do anything you like. But I am not sure if you will enjoy it. The first day of school is usually full of crying children."

"Mommy! Please let Mr. Chairman come with us," Daisy said.

"Please, please, please!" Rosey added.

"See, your kids approved. So what do you say?" Chris urged.

"Fine! But don’t blame me if you didn’t like it there."

Chris nodded with a big smile and asked, "I brought my car, can I park it real quick back to my house?"

"Let’s bring it since Wena will wait for the twins and then she and the driver will pick up Rocco after."

Chris immediately went to Elsa’s driver and handed his keys. "Let’s switch. You drive my car instead and I will drive this."

Elsa was flabbergasted but nodded to the driver when he looked at her asking for her permission. She also instructed the nanny to go with the driver so he wouldn’t be alone.

They first went to Rocco’s school which was a huge exclusive school for the gifted. Chris immediately noticed that it was not an ordinary school. Even though he had lost his wolf, he could still sense that the students there were not entirely humans.

"How did you find this school?" he asked, wondering if she already knew that their children are not ordinary humans as well.

"My father recommended it. The owner is his close friend, but still, Rocco still had to undergo the tests. It was a hard one they said, but he passed and I am so happy."

’Ahh, so that’s why. Perhaps Ambros was already anticipating their shifting that’s why he recommended this. I need to talk to him soon,’ Chris mentally noted.

Chris and the twins went with Elsa to take Rocco to his classroom. They already had their orientation last week so Elsa already knows where to go and who his teacher will be.

"Dr. Morgan! It’s good to see you again. We are excited to have our young Rocco here. I assure you he will be treated here like a prince, you have nothing to worry about," the homeroom teacher greeted.

"Oh, thank you, but there’s no need for that. The school director promised us that he would not be treated differently just because he is friends with my father. Please, I don’t it to cause trouble for him," Elsa replied.

"Of course, doctor, whatever you want, we will follow," the teacher said before noticing Chris behind her. "Oh goodness, forgive my rudeness. Good morning, Your– Sir... It’s nice for you to come with your wife. Your son topped our entrance exam it must run in your blood."

"Sorry teacher, but he is not my husband. He just accompanied us here because the children were begging for him to come," Elsa quickly explained.

The teacher gave Chris a meaningful look before bowing a bit when Elsa looked at Rocco who let go of her hand and went into the classroom. Chris understood the gesture of the teacher so he nodded back.

"I’m sorry, my mistake," the teacher apologized, but then added, "It’s just that he and Rocco look like two peas in a pod, just with different hair colors. Even the twins—someone might mistake you all for a family."

Elsa’s cheeks warmed; she wasn’t sure whether to take it as a compliment or an insult. She wondered if the director had informed the teacher that she was a single mom, which might explain the comment. Regardless, she felt embarrassed in front of both Chris and the teacher.

"Should I stay or can I leave Rocco now?" she asked, hoping to diffuse the awkward situation.

"You can leave him. Look, he’s already made friends. I know you’re busy, so I’ll text you if needed," the teacher said.

"Alright. His nanny, Wena, will pick him up later since I’ll still be at the hospital," Elsa told the teacher, pointing to Wena, who was standing behind her.

Next, they headed to Rosey and Daisy’s kindergarten. As she predicted, some kids were crying, not wanting to let go of their mothers.

"Do you want Mommy to stay?" she asked the twins.

The two shook their heads in sync and immediately ran inside to play with the other kids.

"Wow, they’re big girls now," she remarked.

"Madam, I think it’s because Rocco kept telling them yesterday not to cry or you’d be sad if you saw them cry," Wena said.

"Aw, my sweet boy."

"You’ve raised them well. I’m proud of you," Chris whispered to her.

Her heart started beating faster at those simple words, and she couldn’t explain why. She felt happy and sad at the same time, finding it strange.

"Mommy, Daddy, please have your pictures and fingerprints taken before you leave so we can be sure it’s you when you pick them up," the twins’ teacher told Elsa and Chris.

"Good morning, teacher. Their nanny Wena and I will be the ones to register," Elsa said.

"Oh, that’s fine. You can register as many people as you like, so all three of you can do it."

"He’s not my husband or their father," Elsa smiled awkwardly, hoping the teacher would stop there.

"Really? But the twins look like both of you. They have his face shape and hair. They have your eyes, which is why I called him Daddy. He resembles them a lot."

Elsa wanted to tape the teacher’s mouth shut to stop her from talking, but she began to see the similarities between her children and Chris. She started questioning herself, wondering if their father looked like Chris.
