The Royal Mark-Chapter 404: Get To the Bottom of It
After dinner at Elsa’s home, everyone went their separate ways. Marina ensured that Jai came along to avoid leaving him behind. Once Dr. Chaudhary had left, Marina and Elandir urged Chris to join them at Marina’s house so they could have a conversation with him.
"Tell me, what are you two planning?" Chris asked directly upon arriving at Marina’s house, which was just a block away from Elsa’s.
"Well, we want you to get back together," Marina said.
"I can do that by myself. I don’t need your help, but thank you anyway."
"But we wanted to ensure that Elsa chooses you, not someone else... like Jai. They have a long history, you know," Marina pointed out.
Chris remained unbothered. "I know, and she chose me before. She will choose me again."
"Don’t be too complacent, Chris. In the five years I’ve known Elsa, I’ve seen how irresistible she is to men, single or not. She didn’t entertain any men before because she was busy with the kids. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
But things are different now. The children are growing. The twins will start school, and Rocco will enter primary school. She’ll have more time for herself, and she might consider entering a relationship sooner rather than later," Marina expressed her concerns.
Marina’s words began to sink in, and Chris suddenly felt uneasy about the possibility she described. They were no longer fated mates, his mark on her had faded, and her feelings for him might have changed. As a beautiful and successful woman, it was only natural that men would be drawn to her.
His chest tightened, and he started to feel anxious. "So, how do you plan to help me?" he finally asked. If he really wanted to have an advantage over the other men, he knew he must accept the help of Marina and Elandir or at least listen to their suggestions first.
"Living next to her is already our second step since we already managed to buy the hospital," Elandir mentioned.
"I’m still curious, how did you manage to buy it?" Marina asked.
"Simple, we brought some expensive metals and gems from our kingdoms and sold them here. Too bad we could only carry some so we still need to work like normal human beings here," Elandir responded.
"Aren’t you already that? Your lifespan has been significantly reduced and your ears are already human-like. Stop being in denial my friend," Chris teased, making Marina laugh.
"Anyway, let’s go back to our plan," Elandir said. "We will try our best to guard your wife against other men and we will make sure that you two are always together so that you can do your part to sway her heart."
Chris sighed remembering what the goddess said, "I am still not sure about this. Every time I am with her I want her. But... Remember the goddess’ rule? I cannot tell her who I am or I will die and her memories will come back.
I don’t know how long can I keep this secret. Earlier I already had a slip of the tongue. I called her my love, what if I do something worse in the future?"
"Chris you worry too much. Since you are aware of it, then for sure you will be more careful next time. Plus, you don’t have to tell her who you are. Just be yourself and let your love for her flow naturally.
She doesn’t need to know who you are for her to fall in love with you again. Look back and remember the things you did that made her heart skip a beat. I believe that what the mind forgets, the heart remembers. You just have to find your connection again," Marina encouraged.
"Speaking of connection, their wolf puppy is really weird," Chris uttered.
"Yakobo? What do you mean weird? Beside his name, what else did you notice?" Marina asked with so much curiosity since she had been wondering how did Rocco came up with the name Yakobo when he was only a year old when they left Vectus.
"When it bit me, I felt something. As if it was trying to talk to me but I didn’t hear anything it was like I could feel its emotions a bit. I don’t know, it must be my imagination because he has the same name as my wolf."
"Maybe Nathan, I mean Ambros is trying to make Elsa remember you on her own. Come to think of it, the goddess didn’t say anything about what if she recovered her memory by herself. She didn’t also mention any rule about the seraphim helping his daughter right? And she said that she has no control of the seraphim’s action so maybe that’s why he named the pup Yakobo," Elandir assumed making Marina frown.
"No, no, no," Marina quickly retorted, "It was Rocco who named the pup himself. I was so surprised that he thought of that of all names in the world. I even asked Ambros about it and he said that that name never came out of his mouth.
I think your son could talk to wolves! He is still part werewolf, right? He mentioned that the wolf pup was the one who told him its name, that’s why he started calling him Yakobo. Elsa also mentioned that Rocco is always talking to the pup and is telling her the pup’s answers.
She finds it cute since she has no recollection of her huskies being her suppressed powers. Plus she thinks that all kids do that so it’s normal. But from what Elsa told me, it sounded like Rocco’s wolf pup is your wolf. Could it be that he materialized? Is that even possible?"
"Something weird is going on. The ability of Rocco to speak with wolves is not a surprise, like you said he and the twins still have werewolf blood. Hera was only able to suppress their magic before they left but their werewolf ability will still manifest.
But if what you’re saying is right. Then it means that Yakobo didn’t really die when I crossed the portal but instead, the goddess only transferred him to a real wolf’s body. I must know more. I should speak to Rocco one-on-one and get to the bottom of it," Chris uttered with determination.
