Chapter 332: Fulfill My Promise

"Do you really have to scream like that? It is not the first time you’ve seen a man’s body or is it a scream of enthusiasm?" King Mordrak asked, beaming as he entered the room coming from the bath chamber.

He was completely naked and was holding a towel to dry his wet hair.

Elsa quickly turned around upon recognizing the king. Her face flushed red, not only from embarrassment but also from fear that her plan might be discovered.

"I-I just got startled. I woke up alone and didn’t know where I was, and that’s what I was trying to find out that’s why I am roaming around," she replied.

The demon king laughed, "Is that so? You’re not trying to escape?"

Elsa grew increasingly anxious, realizing she needed a plan before being discovered. ’Fine, I’ll do my best until I can’t anymore,’ she thought.

She turned around and met the demon king’s gaze, ignoring his nakedness. "Maybe I am trying to escape, and it’s your fault for not upholding your end of the deal," she boldly declared.

"I must admit, there’s some truth to that. But you can’t blame me entirely. It was Milda’s idea, really," King Mordrak responded, wrapping the towel around his waist.

"Really?" she retorted sarcastically. "Then where’s the cure you promised?"

"How about we discuss it over lunch so I can get dressed too? You’ve been out for a while, so you must be hungry."

The demon king was right; it was only then that she realized her hunger. She knew that in order to escape, she needed her strength, and food was essential for that.

"Alright, let’s talk."

"Wait in your room. I’ll send a servant to help you get ready. It’s not pleasant to dine with someone in their battle gear. I might get indigestion."

Elsa rolled her eyes and glared at the demon king before returning to the room where she had woken up.

King Mordrak watched her walk away with a smirk. "She’s something else. Her annoyed face is quite cute. I’ll enjoy having her here. She will give colors to my boring life."

He then summoned his servant and instructed him to assign someone to assist Elsa.

Back in the room, Elsa paced nervously. ’This is not good. I want to get away from here as soon as possible, but it seems I have to pretend for a while.’

Without waiting for the servant, she began searching the cabinets and drawers for a change of clothes. ’I must make King Mordrak believe I’m here to fulfill my promise as long as he keeps his,’ she told herself.

It took a while for the servant to arrive and when she did, Elsa was already dressed up and ready to go.

"Madam, I was sent here to serve you–"

Elsa did not let the servant finish and cut her off. "Let’s go to the dining hall. I am supposed to have lunch with the king," she said impatiently.

"A-Alright... This way please..." the servant said.

As they walked through the hallway, she noticed how nervous the servant was and she could feel something weird about her.

"What’s your name?" Elsa asked the servant.

"My name is Lulu, Madam."

"Are you nervous Lulu?"

Lulu stiffened and gasped, she was not expecting her question, "I-I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it. It’s my first time serving a royalty. I’m afraid I might make mistakes and you’ll kill me."

Elsa stopped from walking, bothered by the servant’s reply. "Is that the practice around here? Killing servants who made mistakes?"

"I-I think so, t-that’s what I’ve heard. I-I’m sorry I was just too nervous. Forgive me for saying those. Please don’t kill me, I beg you." Lulu stammered and bowed before Elsa, pleading.

"I won’t kill you. Unless I have to defend myself against you. Other than that, you are safe with me. I am curious though why would they assign you to me if you have no experience in serving the royals?"

"The chamberlain chose me because I am human. The King wanted human servants for you madam but I was the only one available today. So tomorrow, you might get another one. A much better servant than me," Lulu said while still bowing.

"Hmm, so that’s why I get a different feeling from you because you are not a demon. Why are you in Kurzen then and not in Zemaria? Did the demons abduct you?"

Lulu finally stood up and hastily waved her hands, "No, no, no, Madam. I was born here. My family has been living in Kurzen for centuries now. And there are many humans living here. Most of us serve in the castle and other wealthy families while some are farmers. Those are the only two occupations that a human could have."

Elsa stared at Lulu and thought, ’So the humans here are basically slaves by the demons.’

"Alright, let’s go now. King Mordrak must be waiting for me," Elsa uttered.

Lulu bowed once again and led the way to the dining hall.

Elsa kept looking around, studying the castle. She wanted to memorize the place as fast as she could so plan her escape better.

"Lulu, how long have you been working here?"

"I grew up here, Madam. My mother works in the kitchen while my father works in the garden. I started working here as soon as I came of age."

"I see..." Elsa immediately thought of something that would be essential to her plan.

But her thoughts were interrupted when Lulu spoke again.

"Here we are, Madam. Behind these doors is the dining hall. I cannot enter there, you have to go alone when I open the door."

"Why are you not allowed inside?"

"Because I am just your temporary servant. Tomorrow they will replace me with someone better," Lulu explained.

"I understand. Thank you for your help, Lulu." Elsa patted Lulu’s shoulder with a bright smile.

Lulu blushed, surprised at Elsa’s kindness towards her. It was surely different from the stories of the servants who served the king and other wealthy families in Kurzen.

She quickly opened the door for Elsa and bowed one last time as her Madam entered the dining hall.
