The Royal Mark-Chapter 295: A Favor and a Gift
Bono’s tent was not that far from where he greeted them, and they were surprised to see a lot of nobles and wealthy people coming in and out of his huge tent.
"If you don’t mind, we will use the entrance at the back since as you can see there is a long line and I don’t want my customers to think that I am favoring you over them, not that I don’t," Bono said.
The four followed the merchant quietly and were amazed at what they saw the moment they entered the tent.
"Wow! Are all these for sale?" Neia inquired while her eyes were sparkling and busy looking at the colorful silks, rare gemstones, and exquisite pieces of jewelry on display.
Elsa was fascinated at how many items the merchant was selling. It reminded her of shopping in a mall back in Novus.
"You are right, Your Highness. Please go, and take your time looking around," he then called one of his servants to assist the princess.
"Your Majesty, are you ready to see the medical tools that I have?" Bono asked Elsa.
She just nodded and followed Bono to the table where different kinds of metals and weird-looking items were displayed. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Elsa’s eyes widened at how many medical tools, Bono had acquired. He almost has everything she needs to be able to operate a small clinic. From stethoscopes, dissecting sets, syringes, sphygmomanometers, otoscopes, and thermometers, to microscopes, and many more.
"H-How did you get these? It is forbidden to go to the other world. If the guards see these, you might get arrested," Elsa queried.
Bono looked at Chris and Stefan who were busy checking the things on the table before he whispered to Elsa, "I’ll be honest, My Queen. They were thrown away by the new ruler of Saldivar. I guess the former queen owns them. I promise you, I did not steal any of it and definitely did not break any law to acquire it. Please don’t tell anyone, my reputation is on the line."
Elsa chuckled and replied, "Alright, I believe you. Your secret is safe with me if you will sell them all to me, and I want a big discount!"
Bono clapped in excitement and immediately called his two other servants and ordered, "Pack everything that the lady likes, make sure to give her a fifty percent discount."
"Fifty? Really? You are so generous, thank you!" Elsa exclaimed in joy.
"Of course, I am. And always remember my name, Bono, the famous merchant. I will surely look for you again once I have items that you might like. But for now, please excuse me, I will make an offer to your husband and his friend."
Elsa chuckled and nodded before starting to point to the assistants the things that she’d be taking.
Bono squeezed himself between Chris and Stefan, hooking his arms to theirs. "Follow me, Your Majesties. I have something for the both of you," the merchant remarked before swiftly dragging the two men to the opposite corner of the tent.
Chris and Stefan saw racks displaying expensive cigars and wines. Stefan briskly freed himself from Bono’s grasp and started checking each shelf and selecting the product that he fancied.
"Well, well, looks like the Vampire King knows what he wants. Now it leaves me to just you, Your Majesty. And I just have the perfect item for you," Bono walked behind the table with different trinkets and took a small box under it.
Chris took the box and when he opened it, he was utterly confused. "What am I supposed to do with this?" he questioned Bono and picked up the object to inspect it closer.
Bono promptly snatched it and put it back into the box. "Your Majesty, this item is highly sought after by men, both married and not. But I only sell it to the highest bidder. However, you are the King of Arcanis so no need to bid for it, I will give this to you. Consider it as my gift to you and the queen."
Chris pressed his lips tightly together, thinking if he could trust this merchant, so he stated, "You know, Bono. Nothing in this world is free. I am sure you are giving this to me in the hope of me, doing you a favor someday. Also, I don’t know what is this for, that’s why I decided not to accept it."
Chris returned the box to Bono which he didn’t accept. "Come closer, Your Majesty. I will tell you how to use this."
Chris moved closer and Bono whispered to him the instruction. His eyes soon grew bigger and his lips curved into a smile as he listened carefully to the famous merchant.
"I see... May I know what favor will I owe you if ever I take your gift?" Chris willingly asked.
"My request is simple. After your father died, your uncle forbade me and my people to travel to Arcanis to sell our stuff. We want that privilege back. We have never caused any trouble in Arcanis and will never do. We just want to earn while traveling, would you be able to allow us to?" Bono sincerely asked.
"Is that all you want from me?" Chris wanted to make sure that the merchant had no hidden agenda once he is allowed to enter his kingdom.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Bono answered.
Chris smirked, he put the box into his pocket and said, "As long as you promise to not sell anything illegal and forbidden in my land, then you can freely sell your stuff there. Let the royal guards know once you arrive in Arcanis, I will invite you to the castle if you have other things that you want to sell to me and my queen."
Bono clasped his hands together in happiness and quickly grabbed a box and showed Chris what was inside.
Chris saw something like a flat rope made of leather and some kind of wand.
"Here, take this as a token of my appreciation. Thank you so much, Your Majesty. I will take my leave now so you can freely browse my tent and see if you like something else. If you need anything please call on my assistants. Thank you again!"
Bono looked around to make sure that no one was watching them before he bowed and left.
Chris smiled before he closed the lid of the box that Bono gave him. He could already imagine the things that he could do with it. He gulped as he felt the urge to take Elsa home at that very moment so he could show it to her.
’This will blow her mind. I’m sure she will love these...’ Chris said internally.
