Chapter 241: Fading Away

"Everyone stop!" Hoven roared on the castle ground, after receiving the news that King Alaric was in critical condition after King Stefan jumped off the balcony to save Laureen from hitting the ground.

When everyone who was fighting stopped, Hoven looked at Prince Andrius who was standing in the Balcony. He nodded and shouted, "King Alaric is down! He was attacked by the switch queen and has taken Princess Neia. The reign of King Alaric has ended. Hail the new King of Arcanis! Long live King Christopher! Long live Queen Elsa!"

Everyone on the castle grounds both humans and werewolves dropped in one knee to honor their new king and queen, including the rebel werewolves. While everyone was celebrating, the demons and witches tried to slowly escape.

"Capture all the demons, witches, and rebel werewolves! Spare no one!" Hoven commanded and everyone was fast to take action.

"Hoven, take your best men and run after Yvonne. She has Neia, they must haven’t gotten far enough yet," Elsa yelled from the balcony and Hoven immediately did what he was ordered.

Elsa then turned to Alaric who was being assisted by Baahu and Kaizer since Lexi could not go near him since there was silver all over not only on Alaric but also on the walls and floors.

"I don’t know how to save you, but I will try my best," she said to Alaric.

"Lexi, can you lead Baahu and Kaizer on where they can place him, I’ll check on him in a bit. I will just check Chris first. Guys, please clean him up. Remove all silver from him, I will send Rylie to help you."

"Alright, Princess, I mean My Queen," Lexi uttered then giggled.

"We will talk about that later. Right now, let’s focus on healing everyone that needs it." Elsa left but Andrius went with her.

"Elsa, what is wrong with Laureen?" he asked worriedly.

"I am not sure too. It looks like she’s under a spell but I have to check first."

Andrius did not ask further questions and both stayed silent as they walked out of the castle. Upon exiting from the main entrance, the moment people saw Elsa walking towards the castle grounds, they stopped whatever they were doing and bowed at her.

"Your Majesty..."

"My Queen..."

Everyone greeted Elsa as she walked towards Chris. She tried her best to acknowledge all the greetings of the people of Arcanis and the mages of Zemaria but worry is still evident on her face.

Her eyes welled up when she saw Tallor tying up Chris’ arms and legs like a wild animal. He is still in his werewolf form and he was huge.

"Why are you tying him up?" Elsa tried her best to not sound annoyed but her voice still sounded that way.

"I apologize, My Queen, but just to make sure that he will not attack someone in case he wakes up we have to do this. As you can see, he is still in that form, when he should have shifted back to his human form the moment you knocked him out," Tallor said.

"So, you’re saying that this is not normal?" Elsa asked in confusion. There are still many things about werewolves that she doesn’t know about.

"Yes, Your Majesty. There’s something blocking or stopping him from returning to human form," Tallor replied.

"Bring him inside. Lexi said something about it earlier. Bring him to his room and I will talk to Lexi first," Elsa ordered.

It took four werewolves to carry Chris in that form and before Tallor and the rest could go far, Elsa stopped them.

"Wait!" She ran to Chris and hugged him. She rubbed her cheek on his black fur on the chest. It was a long hard embrace. She couldn’t stop herself anymore from sobbing. She buried her face on his furry chest as she cried her heart out.

His body felt warm, it was the warmth that she had been longing for in the past few months.

The people who witnessed how their new Queen wailed for their King also shed tears. No words were needed to be said as they felt the pain in her heart. They all know their story, and they are both happy and sad.

Happy that finally, they are together but sad at the same time for they don’t know what will happen to their King.

After pouring her heart’s pain out, Elsa quickly wiped her tears and planted a kiss on Chris’ forehead, before saying, "Fight for me, my love. I will save you."

She then signaled Tallor to go and bring Chris to his room. She stayed on her spot as she watched Chris fade away. She was going to look for Rylie, she badly needed her help and also other healers that could assist her on both Chris and Alaric.

"Looks like you are so fond of your wings and you are still proudly showing it to everyone," Drake said. He found her first together with Arla, Rylie, and Dasher.

She turned around and placed her hand on her chest as she released a deep sigh. "Thank God you are all fine," she then hugged Drake hard wanting to cry more. But there are more important matters that she needs to attend to.

"I have no idea how to retract these wings, I don’t even know if it can be hidden. Have you seen Elandir?" she said.

"He went with Hoven and the rest to pursue the witch queen," Dasher answered.

"When he comes back, I need him to go to my mother and ask her what is happening to me. I need answers. But for now, I need healers. Rylie, come with me. Arla, go and find some human healers whose skills are far more advanced. Dasher, I also you to find me some werewolves who are knowledgeable about silver poisoning and Drake, please check Gavin and Aeson," Elsa ordered.

"Wow, you are on your way to becoming a great leader, my niece," Drake praised, feeling proud at how far Elsa had come when they all thought back then that she was a weak untrained mage.

"Tell me that once everyone is already safe. These cases are far from my knowledge and skills. Let’s stop talking and let’s start saving everyone."

Everyone nodded and went their separate ways. Elsa and Rylie saw Andrius carrying Laureen, behind him was King Stefan and Laura, Laureen’s mother.

"How is she?" Elsa asked.

"She’s burning, but I can manage, My Queen. Go and save your husband. I will tend to her and will let you know if her condition worsens," Laura said.

Andrius gave her a meaningful look before walking away. However, King Stefan stayed.

"Queen Elsa, do you still need my help here? Because if not, I want to join the group that is looking for Princess Neia," the vampire king said.

"That would be great, Your Majesty. I will thank you properly after all this mess is settled," Elsa remarked.

"Tsk, tsk. Call me Stefan, you are queen now, and even if not, you are my friend’s wife, that makes you my friend too."

"Alright, Stefan, thank you for all your help. Please find Neia. My husband would be devastated when he finds out that his only sister is missing."

The vampire king bowed and bid farewell before walking out of the castle.

"Where should we go now, My Queen?" Rylie asked.

"I have no idea. Everyone needs medical attention and my wings are hurting my back already. Do you know how to fix this?"

Rylie chuckled at Elsa’s silly question.

"Sorry... It’s just so frustrating that it’s hindering my movements. I wish someone could tell me how to hide this."

"I think you should relax, Your Majesty," they heard Malvar utter. "I observed Bendy multiply times retract its wings after landing. It will take a deep breath and after a few seconds, its wings will be hidden."

"That’s a good idea, but how can I relax in a situation like this?"

"Let’s try, remember the meditation technique that I taught you?" Rylie said. "Let’s try that while you are inside a water dome."

"Alright, let’s find a quiet place." The two then went inside a room that they found in the hallway. They asked Malvar to wait outside just in case someone looked for them.

Rylie created a water dome around Elsa while she sat comfortably on the floor.

Elsa closed her eyes and concentrated on Rylie’s words. True enough, she can feel her back relaxing and her wings don’t seem heavy anymore. She slowly breathes in and out, while listening to the sound of the water that Rylie was creating.

"Stop! No, no, no!" Elsa quickly stood up, causing Rylie to clear the water dome.

"You did it! Your wings are all hidden away!" Rylie exclaimed joy after not hearing Elsa’s panicking voice.

"We have to go!" Elsa grabbed Rylie’s arm surprising her. She dragged her outside of the room puzzling Malvar too.

"What’s going on?" Rylie asked in confusion.

"It’s Chris. Our mate bond is back. He is in extreme pain. He is fading away, my husband is dying!"
