Chapter 174: I Can See Through You

As expected, every council member was present in the great hall of An’owyn Castle the next day. There was tension as everyone expected the king to choose someone among them since the king’s only son, Elandir had not yet gained his title back. As per Elven tradition, if the king has no direct blood-related heir, the next in line would be a member of the Elven Council.

The great hall was filled with murmurs from everyone until King Tyrion and Queen Ydril arrived. To everyone’s surprise, Elandir was behind them, which had not happened ever since he was stripped of his title as the Crown Prince of Qiryn.

Everyone stared at Elandir wondering what he was doing there since he was also not wearing anything fancy that would fit the occasion in case he was the chosen one by the king. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

All people present bowed to King Tyrion and Queen Ydril as soon as they faced their subjects. Elandir went to the side, away from the king and queen to start enabling his plan.

King Tyrion turned to the council’s adjutant and asked, "Is everyone present here?"

"Yes, Your Majesty. Everyone is present including the ones who got injured when Princess Elsa attacked the council hall," the adjutant replied.

"Well done. Now close all the entrances," King Tyrion ordered.

"Eh? Your Majesty?" and just like yesterday, the council’s adjutant is once again thunderstruck at the king’s order.

"Are you asking me to repeat myself? Are you deaf?" King Tyrion sternly questioned, getting into character again.

The adjutant quickly ordered the guards to close all the doors and murmurs from the Elven Council erupted once more.

"Silence! You are all gathered here today because I have things that I want to discuss and announce. One of them is the incident of the stealing of the Moonstone Mithril Staff. You are all here so we can find the mastermind," King Tyrion said.

"My King, we are all doing our best to find it but how can we do that if we are all here instead of looking for it," one of the council said.

"My son, Elandir will take of that. Something that none of you can do."

Elandir waved at everyone with a grin which seemed like a joke to everyone who saw it.

One of the council scoffed and said, "Elandir? That mischievous boy who think everything is a joke and always causes trouble?"

"Yup, yup, yup, that’s me!" Elandir answered instead of the king.

"Don’t make up laugh boy. You are using the king’s weakness again to fool him. You can’t do anything right at all," a member of the council said.

Elandir smirked and said, "Are you sure?" He then pointed his finger upward, "Look up."

Everyone looked up and saw vines crawling on the ceiling while producing leaves and white flowers.

"Is this a sick joke? How can your plants find the staff?" another member exclaimed.

"Please be patient and wait for the show," Elandir said and pointed his finger up once more.

Within moments, the white flowers burst open, unleashing a multitude of spores that spread in the grand hall. Many individuals coughed and waved their hands to disperse the spores from in front of their faces.

"Elandir! What is this trickery again?" Queen Ydril exclaimed as she watched the great hall in a state of disorder and utter confusion.

"Just watch mother, I have trained for years to master this one," Elandir said while his gaze was fixed on the crowd as if waiting for something else to happen.

"What do you mean? What have you done? Explain or better stop this!" King Tyrion said, slightly panicking.

"No! No! No! That is mine, Frieda! You will not return it, do you hear me!" Eion, King Tyrion’s younger cousin exclaimed.

His yelling caught the attention of others for he seemed to be not in his right mind. It was as if the council member was dreaming while his eyes were opened.

"Gotcha!" Elandir teleported to Eion’s side starling everyone including King Tyrion and Queen Ydril. No elf could ever teleport that fast without using a totem, casting a spell, or using a portal. However, Elandir did it in a blink of an eye.

Everyone around Elandir and Eion stepped back, looking back and forth between Elandir and Eion.

"I used the spores to make the person who touched the Moonstone Mithril Staff hallucinate. The scene that Uncle Eion is seeing right now is the one that I created. In his hallucination, Frieda is trying to return the staff to the princess and right now as you can see he is trying to stop her," Elandir explained.

"But how? How can you do that? No elf in our history could do that!" King Tyrion asked.

"Well, I guess I am the first then. Father, all those years that I told you that I was trying to find new herbs. It was true, but while doing so, I was also able to discover this skill of mine. Since you also took my portal conjuring ability, I was able to master teleportation without any downtime. All thanks to your strict training. You think I didn’t know that you were doing all that for me? I can see through you, Father..."

King Tyrion’s eyes welled up by Elandir’s words but he quickly blinked his tears away. His son is not yet done exposing Eion. They still have to know where is the staff now.

"Now, for the main event... My lady, can you please do the honor?" Elandir glanced at the woman with reddish brown hair, beside the queen and gestured to step forward.

Elandir ordered the guards to hold the still hallucinating Eion and pushed him down to his knees.

The woman then used both her hands to hold Eion’s head before uttering a spell. Her eyes glowed white while Eion screamed in pain, and when she was done, he dropped to the floor unconscious.

"Where is it, my lady?" Elandir asked the woman with a reddish brown hair.

"It is in an underground dwelling under his house. The servant is there too, guarding the staff."

In a blink of an eye, Elandir disappeared. They didn’t have to wait long for after just less than a minute, he reappeared with the Moonstone Mithril Staff in his hand with a grin on his face.
