Chapter 171: I Knew It Was You

When Baahu pulled away, Lexi was speechless and just stared at him. She was not expecting Baahu to act that way until he broke the awkward silence in the galley.

"Are you okay, Lexi? You looked like you’d seen a ghost," Baahu said.

"What just happened?" Lexi’s brain lagged behind as she still tried to process the situation.

Baahu chuckled and cupped her face, "Let me take care of you from now on. Let me show you how much I like you. I want to make you fall in love with me, hoping that it will stay the same when you find your mate."

Lexi lowered her head and was hesitant to reveal it but she did it anyway. "You don’t need to worry about my mate. I have found him."

Baahu frowned and got irritated, he hadn’t started courting Lexi but it looked like he already had a competition. "You did? Who is it? Did he reject you? Just thinking about it makes my blood boil."

"M-My mate is y-you..."

Silence took over the galley as the two stared at each other’s eyes, utterly at loss for words.

*BOOM*

Lexi almost hit the counter when the ship shook but Baahu was able to envelop his arms around her.

"We are under attack! Laureen just called out via our link. Let’s g–" Lexi was about to head to the main deck but Baahu pulled her and gave her one short kiss.

"Let’s go. We will talk later, so promise me that you will be careful, okay?"

Lexi nodded and both of them ran to the main deck. They found the others already engaged in a fight. Lexi quickly shifted to her wolf form, a white silvery wolf, just like her hair.

’Even in her wolf form, she is still beautiful,’ Baahu uttered to himself before lifting his hands with open palms to harness the dirt inside the barrels he brought along.

He manipulates the dirt to shape them into throwing spears and striking them at the enemies. Arla quickly created a shield-like barrier in front of him to protect him from the enemies.

"What happened? Why didn’t Dasher inform us of the incoming ship?" Baahu asked his sister.

"He didn’t see any incoming ship. It only appeared when it first fired. They must have a powerful witch with them to be able to cast an invisibility spell on a huge moving ship. Looks like they also know exactly where we are," Arla informed Baahu as she continuously blocked the magic that could harm the people near her.

"Everyone! Don’t spare anyone! Attack with full force!" Chris ordered everyone causing them to smile. It is just what they wanted to do... to kill everyone in sight for ruining their barbecue night.

"Prince Christopher," Arla shouted, "Is the princess safe?"

"Yes, she should be in a safe place by now."

"Your Highness look out!" Rylie shouted and Chris dropped to the ground.

The next thing Chris saw were three werewolves on top of him and a witch with an enchanted whip wrapped around his neck. Another witch tried to implant in him a magical worm but his body was resisting it.

"So the rumors are true after all."

Chris turned his face to the owner of the voice and he gritted his teeth, "Yvonne... I knew it was you!"

"You should’ve killed me when you got the chance. But it’s too late now. Where is your dear wife?" the witch queen asked.

"Far away from you, bitch!" Chris briskly pushed everyone holding him and shifted into his wolf form, completely not aware of what the witch queen had prepared for him.

"Oh no, you’re not..."

Everyone gazed at Chris when he howled after they heard multiple shots. They saw him with a lot of tiny bottle-like objects with pink tail-like at the end of them, sticking on different parts of his half-shifted body.

Chris fell on the hardwood floor with a loud thud and was unconscious. That scene caught everyone off guard and one by one, the mages, Aeson, Laureen, and Lexi were caught by their enemies.

"Search the ship and look for Elsa. The necklace is still here," Queen Yvonne ordered to her men.

"What did you do to Prince Christopher?!" Aeson screamed.

Yvonne smiled as she walked over to his spot and said, "I just gave him an opportunity to sleep well tonight. It’s my gift to your Prince. I bought them from Novus using my salary and they are very expensive. I made sure those drugs were of the best quality and very effective. I don’t want him getting a headache when he wakes up."

"You will pay for this!" Laureen exclaimed. Yvonne laughed out loud and pulled Laureen’s hair toward her back, "Pay you say? You are very wrong my dear. Everything that is happening is already the fruits of my labor. You have no idea what I have to go through to get to this point. Not why don’t you tell me with is that Luna of yours so we can all get this over with and I can enjoy her beauty and power."

"We will never tell you!" It was Lexi who shouted back. Queen Yvonne used her power to choke Lexi up.

"You are pretty. How about if I suck your beauty first before your Luna’s?" Yvonne tightened the spell that was gripping Lexi by the neck making her gasp for air.

"No! Do not touch her!" Baahu struggled and was able to get free from the werewolf who was restraining him.

He cast a spell that made the dirt scattered all throughout the main deck into tiny balls and fired them at Queen Yvonne.

Yvonne quickly moved her hand to stop the tiny balls from hitting her and redirecting them to Baahu.

"NO!" Lexi and Arla howled in unison as they watched Baahu slowly drop to the ground, bleeding, because of the tiny balls that hit him.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. I don’t want to shed blood, I have seen enough blood in Novus that I don’t want to see them here anymore. The nauseating stench lingers in my memory and it is just disgusting. But your friend here insists. Who wants to go next?" Queen Yvonne taunted.

"Please, don’t hurt him. He just wanted to protect me," Lexi pleaded.

"Hmm... I know you. You are the sister of Chris’ second-in-command. Why are you so concerned with that ogre?" Queen Yvonne insulted Baahu causing Lexi to squint her eyes.

"He is my mate," Lexi tersely answered.

"Oh! This is exciting! Let’s make a deal then, how about you tell me where my dear Elsa is and I will let your healer heal your mate. How does that sound?" Queen Yvonne proposed with enthusiasm.

’Don’t you dare, Lexi!’ Laureen told her mentally.

’No, Lexi. Remember she’s our Luna. She dies, we lose our power from her and the chance to defeat this bitch!’ Aeson uttered via their link.

’I’m sorry. The princess will be safe. She’s powerful enough to protect herself. But not Baahu. Just look at him now!’

"The longer you make a decision, the closer your mate faces his end. Do you want him to die? He is losing so much blood you know," Yvonne remarked making Lexi panic more.

’I have to save Baahu, I just told him he is my mate and we haven’t got a chance to talk about it. The princess and prince will surely forgive me,’ Lexi told Laureen and Aeson before speaking to the witch queen.

"Princess Elsa is in Qiryn as of the moment. She and her dogs sailed ahead of us. One of her dogs found out about the necklace so we all stayed here and waited for whoever was coming while she went to Qiryn with her dogs," Lexi said. Her little lie somehow lessened the worry of Laureen and Aeson hoping that it could buy Elsa some time.

"My Queen, we found this in the captain’s quarters," one of the witches called out, handing Yvonne Elsa’s amethyst necklace.

"Grr! Stupid stupid stupid! I’m sure that old mutt was the one who detected my locator spell. Why? Just why didn’t I kill those mutts back then?" Yvonne voiced out angrily before throwing the necklace into the ocean.

"Take everyone to our ship and sink this down. I will take Elsa some other time. We can’t be reckless now when we are so close to finishing our plans. Let her come to me, I have her dearest husband and I am sure, she will go after him." Yvonne told her crew who quickly followed her orders.

"Let the healer heal that ogre first. I don’t want blood on my ship!"

The werewolf holding Rylie released her and she immediately ran to Baahu. She glanced at Lexi and Arla who were keenly watching her. "He will be fine," she said after seeing that his injuries did not damage any major organs in his body.

Arla nodded at Rylie, but Lexi started crying. ’If only I didn’t tell him that he is my mate, he wouldn’t attempted to save me,’ Lexi said inwardly.
