The Royal Mark-Chapter 162: Try Harder
Elsa and her dogs headed to the small wooden lifeboat at the very back end of the ship. Elsa frowned when they found Aeson who was lowering the lifeboat to the water.
"Where is Chris? Where is everyone?"
"We will follow, Luna. Please go first. Rylie and Dasher already cast a spell on this one so that when it touches the water, it will only go to Qiryn’s location. Be safe, Your Highness." Aeson signaled Nile, he bit on Elsa’s belt and pulled her towards the lifeboat, making Elsa hit her bum on the boat’s floor.
Aeson then kicked the lifeboat before releasing the rope holding it, and dropping it to the sea.
Elsa stood up only to sit again after her knees trembled when she saw the other end of the ship destroyed and on fire. She also saw people fighting on the top deck so she knew that everyone except her was still boarded on that ship. She covered her mouth with both hands and quickly reached out to her husband.
’Chris! Where are you? Why the fuck did you evict me from the ship?! I can fight! Let me help you!’ Elsa pleaded with a quivering voice.
’We will follow you, we are just buying some time. Please go ahead, we will soon join you, don’t worry. We will kill all these bastards,’ Chris remarked before shutting off his link with her.
’Damnit, Chris!’ Elsa screams through their bond but it never reaches her husband.
Elsa searched the boat for an oar, she would not let her husband and her team fight alone without her. "Why is there no single fucking oar in this boat?!" she yelled.
[Because they don’t want you back there. That’s why they enchanted this boat to move away from the ship so you won’t join them in the fight,] Ciel said.
"That’s stupid! I can burn all the enemies down! Fuck this!" Elsa jumped out of the boat and so did Niel to get her back to the boat.
"Cold! Cold! Cold! Damn! Let go of me!" Elsa struggled in the water but Nile was not letting her go. She tried casting a fireball but it only reached a short distance as if there was some invisible force blocking it.
"What the heck!" She tried one more time and it did the same thing.
"YOU DAMN MAGES!!!" Elsa stopped struggling, letting Nile, Ciel, and Gaia drag her back to the boat.
"They put a protection spell on this boat. Just like what they did on the villa..." Elsa murmured with a lowered head and dropped shoulder as she sat on the boat with her dogs.
Her tears fell down while she maintained a composed gloomy expression, not a single sound left her mouth. She remained unmoving without removing her gaze on the boat’s floor.
She listened to the battle happening from afar, the roars of werewolves, explosions from spells, and wood getting destroyed, echoed on the vast sea but she remained motionless and feeling betrayed.
’Am I not good enough? Do they see me as a weak person? Am I a liability to them?’ she asked herself inwardly as her tears continued to flow like a waterfall.
*BOOM*
Another explosion was heard coming from the ship but this time it was louder causing Elsa to look up and see what the explosion had caused this time.
"No... NO!!!"
She screamed and wailed as she watched the ship slowly sink into the sea after it got split in half.
"No, no, no... Dasher and Rylie can definitely save the others, he can cast a spell to protect them from sinking into the water while she can make them float. I should not panic." Elsa said out loud trying to convince herself that everything would be okay.
She watched the ship completely submerge into the water while both her boat and the enemies’ ship kept sailing away from it. She waited for a few seconds, then minutes, until it reached more than an hour, and still, no one came to her or at least emerged from the water.
Chris did not come to her as promised, everyone was gone. She was alone with her dogs in the wide ocean. Alone in a world that she only knows little of.
Elsa tried to use her hands to paddle and steer the boat in the opposite direction but it was futile. The boat keeps sailing away from it and keeps going in the direction of Qiryn.
"No, no, no... This is not happening! Ciel, what can I do? Please help me. I know Chris is not dead. I can still feel him but he blocked me from our bond. Help me get back to him," she pleaded desperately, hoping that Ciel had an answer and solution for her.
[You want to counter your mages’ spell? Then stop crying like a child and start using your power!] Ciel scolded sternly.
"I tried but it’s working!" Elsa retorted. Her dog is acting like a mother who knows better than her child and it’s annoying her.
[Then try harder you spoiled brat!] Ciel exclaimed harshly, making Elsa angry.
Her heart started to beat fast as rage and fury filled her heart. She’s angry not only by Ciel’s words but also about a lot of things.
She’s blaming herself for just blindly following Aeson when she could have looked for Chris first. She is mad about not being trusted by her mages that they had to trick her just to save her. She is furious about how helpless she is right now that her mages overpower her and that she can’t even break the protection spell that was cast on her.
She used to be independent, wise, and strong. But ever since she arrived in Vectus, she felt like she was a damsel in distress, always needing protection and always out of control.
But enough is enough. She doesn’t want to be weak anymore, she doesn’t need protection from anyone, she can protect herself and other people. She is a powerful divine mage, the last of her kind, and someone who holds all four elements, someone that people only talk about in myths.
And it’s about time for them to talk about her in the present. She will show everyone that she is truly powerful and she will be the one who will protect her loved ones, she will protect their people, their kingdom.
