Chapter 153: The Antidote

"Hallucinating, vomiting, screaming, delirious, dilated pupils, and fever..." Elsa repeated the words like a spell while on their way to the alchemy room.

’Why do you keep repeating that, Your Highness?’ Laureen asked via their link while in her wolf form.

"I think I’ve read it somewhere in one of the books, and there’s actually a cure. But I need to figure out how can I sneak you inside the room. I need fast eyes and hands."

When they arrived in front of the alchemy room, Laureen dressed up after shifting back to her human form. Elsa made a cut on her finger before she handed over the pocket knife that she used last night to Laureen, "Do the same as I did. I want to try if it will work."

When Laureen nicked her finger, Elsa quickly dropped her blood to Laureen’s wound before it healed and then uttered, "Divinuum presidium." Laureen was quickly enveloped in a faint yellow glow. Elsa took her hand and together they went inside the room.

"Oh my God, it worked! My great-grandmother’s spell can be tricked after all!" Elsa exclaimed making Laureen chuckle.

"What do you want me to do, princess?" Laureen asked.

Elsa gave her a stack of books and said, "You do this half, I’ll do the other half. I remember seeing a bell-shaped flower that was dull purple with a tinge of yellow-green toward the base. I couldn’t remember the name, my fault, but I remember the looks of it because it is similar to the plant that we have in Novus that is poisonous too."

Laureen nodded and they didn’t have to look for long since Elsa found it right away. "I found it, my memory is still sharp,’ she commented before showing the picture to Laureen.

"That is Belladonna, Your Highness. But that is not too poisonous for us, I believe there is a lot of that in Saldivar Territory, the land of the witches. They even use it for curing some diseases," Laureen informed Elsa.

"It might be a cure by itself, but remember it was a mixture of poisons that was given to Chris. I also found this..." Elsa turned the page of the book and showed Laureen a note at the bottom of the page.

"Look it said here, ’If mixed with certain plants, it can cause hallucination, vomiting, delirium, dilated pupils, rapid heartbeat, fever, prevent sweating and death due to breathing problems.’ And on the next page, it tells the ingredients and the mixture of the cure."

"Right, and that’s what Prince Christopher is manifesting now," Laureen replied.

"Let’s find out." Elsa immediately contacted Lexi through their mind link, who was in the room with Rylie, Chris, and her grandmother. ’Lexi, with the time that has passed. Chris should be sweating by now, can you check if that’s the case?’

’Your Highness, the prince is still not sweating and his fever is still high,’ Lexi answered.

’Please tell Rylie and my grandmother to continue trying to lower his temperature, I found the plant that caused it I just need to make the antidote.’

"You need to find out if there is a calabar bean and manchineel fruit in the glass jars inside the other room. Please find it fast. I will prepare the fire, pot, and other ingredients that I need here while you look for them," Elsa said before walking toward the very end of the room.

Laureen tilted her head wondering what room was Elsa talking about.

Elsa took out from her pocket the paper that Valeria gave her and read it out loud while extending her right hand to the bookcase with a row of brown books. "Aperi ostiuma ad mani sani tatem."

Both of them gasped when the bookcase moved by itself, sliding to the left, exposing the hidden room.

"Go Lauree, I am counting on you!"

Laureen nodded and swiftly entered the room to look for the jar with the ingredients that Elsa was looking for.

Elsa prepared the small burner with a glass pot that she filled with water while she checked the other jars for the other ingredients that she needed.

After finding everything she needed she called Laureen who was still inside the secret room, "What is taking you so long?"

"It’s like I am looking for a needle in the haystack here. There’s too many!" Laureen answered so Elsa decided to go in.

Elsa dropped her jaw after seeing the number of glass jars with different herbs, animal parts, and other things inside them. It was like a laboratory of a mad scientist in some horror movies that she saw.

"What kind of family do I have? This is like a room made for Frankenstein!" Elsa exclaimed.

"Franken who?" Laureen asked in confusion.

"Nevermind. I’ll help you look."

’Princess! The prince is convulsing! His fever is too high. Rylie said it may affect his brain. You have to hurry!’ Lexi uttered in their mind link.

"DAMNIT!" Elsa growled, tears falling from her eyes as she looked at Laureen who was startled by her cursing.

"Chris is in danger we have to hurry!"

Laureen nodded and continued searching.

[Elsa, let me try helping you,] Gaia uttered.

Elsa jolted in surprise to see her three dogs already inside the room.

"Ok, how can you help?" She asked Gaia.

[It is from the earth, I can use the earth element to look for it with the help of your divine magic. We will use a spell. Repeat after us.]

Gaia, Ciel, and Nile placed their paws on Elsa’s hand and started chanting.

[𝘊𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘲𝘶𝘰𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘳𝘪 𝘯𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵, 𝘲𝘶𝘰𝘥 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘳𝘰, 𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘮, 𝘢𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘮, 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘮, 𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘮.]

"Custos quod inueniri non potest, quod quero, per ignem, aquam, terram, et aerem."

They repeated the spell three times and a flowering vine suddenly appeared from the wooden floor crawling up the shelves until it wrapped itself on the two jars that they were looking for.

Elsa quickly grabbed the jars and read the labels of each, "Calabar bean powder. Manchineel fruit extract."

She quickly ran out of the secret room to pour the ingredients into the pot that she was boiling and exclaimed, "Laureen! Start shifting, I got the antidote!"
