The Royal Mark-Chapter 151: Mistletoe and Mountain Ash
"You’re right, we should kill his wife instead," Elsa uttered. "He wants to kill my husband then I will kill his wife."
Hoven dropped his jaw at what he heard. He knows the wife of Erwan, and she’s a nice lady, totally different from her husband. "I will check his memory instead, Luna. No need to bring other innocent people into this."
Erwan laughed again, saying, "You will not see anything! Didn’t you think that I had thought of that before? My memory relating to the poison has been era– Arghhh!!!"
Erwan screamed in pain when Hoven sank his claws into the back of his neck as he went through his memories. But Erwan could not do anything since both his arms and legs were chained to the wall. It took Hoven a while before he let go of Erwan who had fainted due to the intensity of Hoven’s memory transference; only to give Elsa the bad news.
"He is right Luna, I can’t see anything, not because it was erased, but because something is blocking me. Must be the work of the witches. Only the witch queen is powerful enough to do that."
Elsa clenched her fists and gritted her teeth, completely frustrated by the situation. "I want his wife and everyone in his family!"
"But Your Highness, I don’t think they are here in Zemaria. They must be safely hidden in Arcanis, and right now it would be very hard to sneak in there, more so take his wife and family," Hoven rebutted.
Elsa closed her eyes and sighed, "So, tell me, Hoven, what should I do? Should I let your future king die?"
"Of course not, me and my men are also trying to find solutions. I am not sure if you are already aware of this, but it has been a long time since all kingdoms agreed to exterminate all wolfsbane and other dangerous plants. This was before Zemaria and Arcanis formed an alliance.
"Hmm... What other plants can kill a werewolf?" Elsa asked.
"Mistletoe and Mountain Ash, but a true alpha’s body can cure that, it will be slow but they won’t die from it," Hoven explained.
"Find out what you can, Hoven. I will ask around to see what else can we do."
Elsa went straight to the castle’s main library to check what she could find.
’Lexi, how is my husband?’ she asked through their link.
’Still the same, Your Highness. Mistress Valeria was looking for you earlier,’ Lexi informed Elsa.
’Hmm... Maybe she could help. Can you ask someone there to tell my grandmother to meet me in the main library?’
’Laureen is here, I will tell her, she’s faster than the servants,’ Lexi replied.
Elsa also called for Arla, Kaizer, Baahu, and Dasher to help her look for the plants that could harm a werewolf since the castle’s library was huge. She doesn’t even know if the information that she’s looking for is in there.
After some time, Mistress Valeria arrived in the library together with Constance, "Elsa, can I talk to you in private?"
Elsa nodded and turned to Constance, "Could you help the others? Talk to Arla, she will tell you what to look for."
Valeria took Elsa to the private room inside the library that only the royal family could use, "Dear are you alright? We are worried about you."
"I am not okay! How can I be when my husband is on the verge of death!" She exclaimed angrily.
"Are you sure it’s only because of that? We were informed of what happened back in the woods, it doesn’t seem like you."
"You don’t know me, grandma. Those witches and demons don’t deserve to live anyway, so why let them live? If I did not kill them they would only harm others, so it’s better if they just die."
"I know, dear. But we are just concerned about what effect it will have on you. You are not a killer, you are not used to it. We do have laws here and if they are found guilty, the king will order their execution and someone will do it for you, for us, and–"
"Enough!"
Valeria was startled by Elsa’s anger, she had never thought that her granddaughter was capable of yelling at her.
"What done is done. You are wasting my time when I should have been using it to look for answers on how can I save my husband. And honestly, I don’t regret anything at all. I would do it again if I needed to.
My husband is lying in our room fighting for his life. I am a very good doctor in my world but I am fucking useless here! Without the modern tools and equipment that we had there, I couldn’t save Chris.
I was not able to save my father and now I might not be able to save my husband too! And here you are nagging me about killing those evil creatures who do not think twice about hurting and killing others, so if you have nothing good to say, then excuse me, I have some saving to do!" Elsa wiped the tears that had fallen from her eyes and then walked away from Valeria, leaving her dumbfounded.
But Valeria quickly realized how affected Elsa was and ran after her. "Elsa, wait! Tell me what you need, and let’s see how can I help you and Chris."
Elsa told her everything including what she learned from Hoven with the hope that her grandmother would be able to help her.
"Hoven is right, I can still remember that time. Let’s go to my mother’s alchemy room. She has a mini library there, only our bloodline can enter that place. Maybe she kept a book that could answer our questions," Valeria informed Elsa before leading her to the said room.
It was a long walk from the castle’s library and it was already late at night. Most of the torches were already out but since Elsa just acquired back her fire magic, she put up a little show for her grandma. She lit up the torches by shooting tiny fireballs at each and every one of them while maintaining small flames on each end of her fingers to serve as their light.
