The Royal Mark-Chapter 110: Life Source
Elsa stayed with the king and queen of Zemaria at the main castle entrance to bid the guests farewell. Elsa felt elated when she felt that almost everyone welcomed her with open arms as their second princess. Some even told her short stories about her mom, Hera and that made her really happy.
After everyone left, King Allister asked her to meet him in the drawing room. She wasted no time and went there immediately. She saw her grandmother, Prince Andrius, and Prince Drake in the room with serious expressions on their faces.
"What’s with your grim expressions? Did something happen?" Elsa inquired.
"We want to talk about your wedding with the prince, please take a seat," King Allister said.
Elsa took a seat near Drake where she was most comfortable since her grandparents looked serious enough to scare her. "What is it about? You are scaring me, to be honest."
"It’s about your wedding night," Valeria hesitatingly said.
"Grandma, my profession in the other world gave me enough knowledge about a man and a woman spending the night together. No need to lecture me about it, I am sure I know more than what you think." Elsa said casually.
"It’s regarding their ritual. He has to bite you between your neck and shoulder to mark you. We want to hold your wedding as soon as possible but according to what we gathered, werewolves mark their mates on a full moon and the next full moon is after three weeks. So we don’t know if Prince Christopher will agree to get married after three days," King Allister said.
Prince Andrius quickly added, "We would want to secure the alliance right away. So if you could convince him to do the wedding ceremony first and then do the marking later, that would be great."
Elsa was speechless and dumbfounded, she didn’t know if she would laugh or what. She was feeling nervous for nothing, and her family really had no idea how the marking works and she thanked the heavens for that.
She decided to not give them more details, for they might not like what they will hear since the people in Zemaria appear to be more conservative than werewolves. "Don’t worry. I am sure he will agree. I am his mate after all. He had given every member of my family luxurious gifts, I think it just says how much he was trying to impress all of you to like him."
"Perhaps, you are right. But can you at least talk to him about it tonight, give him a heads up, and then tomorrow I will personally inform him," the king said.
After their conversation ended Elsa went straight to Chris’ room she entered without knocking, "Chris, my grandfather–Oh, I’ll just come back when you’re not busy," Elsa quickly turned around after seeing Chris with alphas who introduced themselves earlier in his room.
"Elsa, wait. You can stay, you will be my future wife, and you can listen to our conversation if you want to."
Elsa nodded and sat at Chris’ side on the long sofa, he quickly snaked his arm around her waist as he listened to Hoven’s report.
"The witches are gradually moving into Arcanis as if it is their land. The witch queen was also rumored to have been staying in the Balkan Castle but we can’t confirm this since everyone in the castle has been implanted with the magical worms. Just thinking of betraying King Alaric will harm them greatly and we don’t want to risk their lives for some of them were forced to accept the worms."
"We must attack them soon, Your Highness. Their number is growing and it might be too late if we wait for too long," Alpha Gavin said.
"I understand what you are saying but we must be tactical about it. Did my uncle find what the queen asked him to search?" Chris asked Hoven.
"I don’t think he will ever find it. Even here in Zemaria, it is considered a myth. That witch must be crazy to think that a group of divine mages has been sleeping until now for a thousand years. It is not possible," Hoven replied.
"Did you say sleeping mages?" Elsa butted in.
Hoven turned to Elsa and nodded, "Yes, princess. The witch queen told King Alaric that she would marry him and be his queen if she found where the sleeping divine mages were located. And the stupid king did believe that. I am sure that witch only said that to avoid marrying the stupid man."
"Did she say to him where are the mages located? Or at least any clue where to find them?" Elsa asked seriously.
The men glance at each other, thinking if Elsa is serious with her question if she really believes that it is true. However, only Chris was brave enough to ask her, "Princess, don’t tell me you believe that woman. It is just her excuse to not marry my uncle, she doesn’t like him at all."
"What if what she’s saying is true and they really find those mages, what does she plan to do with them?" Elsa dismissed what Chris said and probed more.
Hoven was truly intrigued as to why Elsa was getting interested in those mages so he replied, "Witches have the power to steal magic or absorb the energy of a person, making it their life source. So we think that if ever she found them then she would both steal their magic and absorb their energy."
"Life source? What do you mean by that?"
Chris was the one who answered this time, "Her life will be extended. She will be young and live longer. Witches can only do that to humans and will not work on their fellow witches."
"If that’s the case then, the witch queen must be old enough to know the truth behind the myth and her demand from your uncle must not be taken for granted. We must inform my grandfather right away," Elsa exclaimed with conviction.
