The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 34: Appease
Chapter 34: Appease
The reluctance expressed by Violet wasn’t enough to prevent Lucas from dragging her to the dining room.
"No matter how sleepy you are, eat something first or else you will be grumbling later when you feel hungry," Lucas stated in a solemn tone.
Violet pouted.
Thinking about it, she was indeed hungry.
But then when her eyes fell on Sylas, Violet didn’t believe she would be able to swallow anything.
Sylas’s demeanour reverted back to his elegant self. His hair was neatly tied, and the white shirt was buttoned to the top, giving an air of abstinence. He maintained his refined eating habits. The allure he radiated today was completely different from yesterday’s bold and fierce aura.
Violet blinked her eyes, almost feeling as though what happened yesterday was a dream.
Lucas nudged at Violet.
"What are you daydreaming about while looking at the Alpha? Sit down," Lucas voiced out.
At that, the pair of silver blue eyes met hers. Unlike the intense and fervent golden brightness, they were calm and silent like the moonlit ocean frozen in time. Her own hazel ones trembled, and she tore away the contact.
Violet grew flustered.
She pulled back the chair and sat down. Usually, her mood would be focused on enjoying the delicious chicken sandwich and egg muffins. However, she found herself too distracted today.
Her thoughts were occupied.
It took everything within her to not look towards Sylas.
Violet lowered her head as though she was about to bury herself in her plate of food. She nibbled on her food slowly.
What was Sylas thinking at this moment?
Would he be mad at her?
Will he go back to ignoring her?
But this wasn’t her fault.
He was the one who pulled her and kissed her.
She even pushed him away!
Violet felt like an abandoned wolf and wanted to let out a small growl of pain.
Lydia noticed her condition and inquired, "Are you feeling unwell? You do not have to force yourself to eat."
Violet shook her head.
Lucas added, "Is the food not to your liking today? Would you like to eat something else?"
Violet shook her head again.
Lydia and Lucas exchanged looks, wondering why Violet resembled a wilted plant today.
"Do you want some watermelon? Lucas got it fresh from the garden yesterday," Sylas brought up.
Hearing Sylas talk to her caught Violet off guard. Her hazel eyes widened as she stared at him. Violet froze for a second, not knowing how to react.
Then, he raised one of his eyebrows.
Violet wanted to deny immediately, but the thought of juicy and sweet watermelon made her feel greedy. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com
She nodded.
Also, she didn’t want to turn down Sylas.
Violet then glanced at Sylas again.
Could it be that he didn’t remember what happened last night?
Or is it that he didn’t mind what happened?
No matter what, since Sylas was willing to communicate with her, Violet felt better, and her taste buds started to function again.
Egg muffin was delicious!
When the meal was done, Violet was surprised to find Sylas take the initiative to enter the kitchen and cut the watermelon for her. She instantly followed after him into the kitchen.
Knowing that she couldn’t allow him to do it, she instantly tried to grab the knife from him. But the slight skin contact between them made her hand burn. Her eyes fell on his face before tracing down to his pink lips. The memories of last night flooded into her mind.
Violet inadvertently took a step back.
Sylas noticed her instability.
"Let me do it," he said, "consider it a compensation."
The knife cut through the thick shell, separating the watermelon into two sections and revealing the red, juicy flesh. Sylas sliced through the sections neatly, resulting in almost even cubes.
Violet noticed the small frown on his face when the juice got on his hand.
"A compensation?" Violet questioned.
"What happened yesterday was discourteous of me. It is sexual harrasment. I apologize you had to see such a unsightly side of me and become the victim.
There is nothing I can do to erase your trauma but make it up to you, so that you wouldn’t be uncomfortable around me anymore. When it is the full moon night, my wolf side overpowers, and he is rather— how do I say it— lustful?"
Violet stared at Sylas for a second thoughtfully before nodding.
She brushed aside the complex set of emotions that overwhelmed her and focused on how Sylas wanted to appease her.
That meant he was not angry at her, rather felt she would be disgusted.
What surprised her his words were valid. She would have disgusted and freaked out if it was someone else. But because it was Sylas, she was more concerned about the bond she worked hard to form between them breaking.
Unlike what Sylas assumed, she didn’t avoid him because of discomfort; it was because she couldn’t come in terms with her emotions and how he would treat her.
The corner of her lips curled up.
No matter what, she was glad— glad that everything between Sylas and her remained unchanged.
Did that mean he cared about her more than she thought?
"I understand, Alpha. What happened yesterday? I don’t remember anything at all. You have been so kind to me. It would be petty of me if I held that against you," Violet excitedly stated.
Sylas silently observed her for a second. "That’s good then. Come on. Taste the watermelon, and see if it’s as sweet as Lucas claims."
It must be indeed because he cared for her!
If only Violet knew how wrong she was at that moment.
Violet took the fork Sylas handed to her and pierced the watermelon. She picked it up and took a bite. Closing her eyes, Violet relished the sweetnesss.
Her eyes sparkled, and her smile grew wider.
"Alpha, this is so good that I can eat the entire watermelon by myself!"
With the burden in her chest lighter, Violet was back to her carefree mode once again.
