Chapter 33: Inexplicable

Violet’s heart skipped a beat.

The rational part of her head warned her she should run away from here; this wasn’t safe. However, the intoxicating scent was clouding her senses.

"Alpha, are you alright?" Violet asked, moving forward to reduce the distance between them.

The silence from him made her realize how wrong it was of her to enter the room. She suppressed her curiosity and swallowed hard, deciding it was best for her to leave.

That’s when his bright golden eyes darted towards her. They gleamed with a fierce, predatory light, making her blood run cold and alerting her instincts to flee from there. ƒгeewebnovёl_com

She felt like a small, helpless animal being watched by a hungry, wild beast.

If she got caught, she would meet her demise.

Violet turned her back, about to hurry out.

But it was too late.

The beast had already caught her.

Her wrist was grabbed, and Violet was pulled backwards. A gasp left her mouth before she was brought into the embrace of a man. The hold was tight and secure, preventing her from escaping.

Those shocked hazel eyes fell on Sylas’s face only to meet his burning golden eyes. They stared at her with emotions she couldn’t describe. Violet shrunk in his arms.

If it wasn’t for the same face, she wouldn’t believe this was Sylas.

Sylas was someone who presented himself in a calm, refined, and restrained manner. However, the man before was the opposite story.

He was a ferocious beast. His eyes did not hide his emotions. They were passionate and overwhelming, suffocating Violet.

Yet it tempted her at the same time, blurring her judgement.

Violet shifted uncomfortably.

"I will go get Lydia. Please let go of me, Alpha. You’re not feeling—"

Before Violet could carry on her words, Sylas’s finger fell on her lips, quietening her down.

She blinked her eyes as his other hand traced her face before placing the strands of her hair behind ear. Then, he grabbed on to her chin and pulled her close, narrowing the gap between them.

The pair of hazel eyes widened. Violet’s heart beat so rapidly in her chest that she felt it was about to rip out of her chest.

"Mine," he commented in a hoarse voice.

In this room overfilled with the bewitching scent of grape wine, there was a sense of familiarity, a deja vu that Violet couldn’t exactly pinpoint.

When has she last experienced it?

Violet clenched her hand into a tight fist, and the nervousness made her tremble.

A part of her was afraid of what Sylas would do next while subconsciously, she was anticipating.

"All mine," he enunciated. There was strong possessiveness in his voice.

Violet’s teeth dug into her lower lip.

Everything that was happening right now was hard for her to process.

When Violet was about to resist again, she was brought forward, and a pair of lips was pressed against hers. The warm touch caused her eyes to freeze for a second before she harshly pushed away Sylas.

This time, she managed to get rid of his hold on her.

She held on to her mouth and hurried out the office. Her breathing was heavy.

When Violet entered her room, she shut the door behind her. Leaning against the door, she fell to her knees.

Her fingers then traced her lips. The lingering feeling of the kiss still remained. Unlike the fierce appearance, the touch was soft, subtle, and careful, as though he was cherishing it.

And what horrified her more was that Violet didn’t push him away because she was disgusted.

It was because she wanted to prevent herself from making a mistake.

The rationality within her prevailed, letting her know that if Sylas came into his senses, he would hate her for this. She was too afraid to have that being ruined.

That’s why, Violet was afraid.

Unbeknownst to her, the seed has already started to take root in a small corner in her chest.

Although Violet initially thought that she wouldn’t be able to get a wink of sleep due to her restless mind, her pregnancy allowed her to lose her consciousness the moment her head touched her pillow.

When Violet woke up the next morning, she got dressed and was about to go outside until the memories of last night flooded into her head, halting her in her position.

She took a step back from opening the door.

Sylas kissed her yesterday.

Violet’s head leaned forward and hit the door.

Now that Sylas was sober, she was ashamed and scared of facing him. She had no clue on how he would react, and her chest clenched painfully at the thought of him going back to ignoring her.

At the same time, the inquisitive part of her wanted to get the answers.

Why would he do something so inexplicable?

She wanted to get answers from herself as well.

Why did she not feel disgusted?

Why was she alright with what happened?

What were these emotions and expectations she started to harbor?

Violet ran her hand through her hair and pulled them, releasing a painful, exaggerated cry after it.

"This is all on pregnancy. It dumbed me down so bad that I don’t even know what I am thinking," Violet mumbled.

Her self-blaming session was cut short when she heard the knocks on the door.

"Princess, are you awake yet? The breakfast is served," Lucas called.

Violet was about to respond before she held back her voice and froze to make no motions. She couldn’t get Lucas know that she was awake.

"Princess?"

Violet removed her slippers and made slow, careful movements towards the bed. She was about to lay down on the bed when the knob was twisted and the door opened.

Startled by it, Violet’s head fell back quickly, and it hit the headboard of the bed. A small wince left her mouth.

Lucas chuckled at the silly expression on her face while she rubbed her head— pain evident on her face.

"Did you hurt yourself bad?" Lucas asked, coming over to take a look.

Violet closed her eyes and grimaced, shaking her head. More than the pain in her head, she was concerned about having to leave the room and face Sylas.
