Chapter 35: Agitated

"Violet, what do you think of the Alpha?" asked Lydia solemnly.

Taken aback by Lydia’s sudden question, she wondered why Lydia wanted an answer. Violet pulled her lips into a thin line thoughtfully.

Then, she responded, "The Alpha is a good and considerate man." freewebnσvel.cøm

There was a lot more Violet wanted to say. However, her disorganized thoughts prevented her from voicing those out, making her feel as though speaking too much would let her expose a deep secret.

Violet did not understand why she was being so cautious.

Lydia’s eyes narrowed at her as though trying to understand her better. She solemnly added, "Is there nothing else?"

The hazel eyes seemed oblivious of Lydia’s intentions.

"I am really grateful to the Alpha. Even though he appeared cold initially, he helped me a lot along the way and did everything in a careful and considerate manner."

Unbeknownst to her, the soft smile on her face reached her eyes.

Lydia was about to say more when the door to the house pushed open, and Lucas stumbled into the room. The stench of various alcoholic drinks flowed in, and Lydia’s sensitive nose instantly scrunched up.

Lucas bumped against the wall and the furniture while his unstable footsteps carried him forward. He blinked his eyes, trying to focus his vision.

The silver silk shirt he wore was wrinkled up. His hair was messy. Traces of lipstick were over his neck, showcasing the intense session he had.

"Oh! Princess, you are still awake! There’s sour face here as well. Eh, princess, why are you shaking!? Are you alright?" Lucas gasped.

His concern made him rush forward and try to grab on to her shoulder. But his inebriated state prevented him from focusing properly, and he merely grabbed on to thin air.

Violet was about to touch Lucas to let him know about her position when the dissatisfied Lucas grumbled. "I won’t let you run away from me, Princess!"

Then, in excitement, he leaped to grab on to thin air, and Violet’s hazel eyes widened, watching Lucas crash against the tiled floor, flat on his face.

Violet instinctively felt pain all over her body.

That must hurt!

Violet was about to check him to see if he was alright when Lydia voiced out, "Leave him alone. He should suffer to learn a lesson."

Lydia’s tone was laced with disgust.

"But he looks pitiful," Violet commented softly, not wishing to arouse Lydia’s anger.

Lydia furrowed her brows. Extending her foot, she kicked Lucas on his leg without holding back her strength, and Lucas groaned.

Violet winced, thinking that must have been painful.

Without any consideration for Lucas, she harshly kicked him once again. This time, it worked, and Lucas turned, resting on his back this time around.

Other than the redness on his face, it seemed that Lucas was fine.

"Who is it messing with me!? I will beat you up!" Lucas exclaimed in his unconscious state. He raised his fist about to show off his power before going back to dozing off again.

He grinned widely as though he was dreaming of something good.

One glance at Lydia’s face made Violet realize that she wanted to hurt Lucas again. Lucas’s situation was already embarrassing enough. She couldn’t let Lydia add more injuries.

She grabbed on to Lydia from behind before Lydia could kick again and said, "Why don’t you bring up over to the couch? I will get him some pills and honey water or else he will complain of headache in the morning."

Lydia’s face contorted, wishing nothing to do with the bastard.

But she couldn’t refuse Violet’s pleading eyes.

"Be quick," Lydia coldly said.

Violet released her and voiced out, "Don’t hurt him," before rushing into the kitchen.

Creases formed between both of Lydia’s brows before she bowed down to Lucas’s height. She raised her hand to slap on his arm. Then, thinking about what Violet had just instructed, she controlled her strength.

Even then a crisp sound was made.

"Get up!"

Even then Lucas kept laughing like a fool. "Hehehe..."

Lydia grew irritated and slapped him a few more times as if to release all the built up resentment within her. But the man remained unaffected.

With no choice left, she muttered curses under her breath as she reached out to carry the man. The heavy weight of his muscles made her shoulder slump, and the stench of alcohol mixed with feminine perfumes hit her strong.

Nausea formed at the pit of her stomach.

Lucas’s face fell on the base of her neck, and he sniffed twice. "Hmm, it smells good. My favourite."

Horrified by Lucas, Lydia immediately threw him on the couch and grabbed her neck, glaring at him. Her hasty action caused the man to barely land on the couch. As his legs laid out of the couch, his head leaned against the headboard in an awkward position.

Lydia wanted to leave, but a moment of hesitation made her feel tangled up.

She pinched her forehead and moved forward to fix Lucas’s position. Grabbing on to his neck, she was about to gently place it down on the soft cushion when suddenly Lucas lifted his leg.

Lydia’s dark eyes widened when Lucas placed his leg over her and his hand wrapped around her, pulling her into a tight embrace.

Lydia’s heart skipped a beat.

"It smells so good," he commented once again.

Lydia froze.

"Lydia, are you— wait, I didn’t see anything! Sorry for interrupting."

Violet who came out from the kitchen saw Lydia and Lucas in such an awkward position. Various scenarios ran through her head, and deciding to give them both the privacy, she immediately turned her head, respecting them.

Lydia could feel a headache forming.

She pushed Lucas away from her body despite his intentions to stick to him and stood up straight, feeling further agitated.

"He is like a dog when he gets drunk. He likes to stick to anything," Lydia provided an explanation. "Don’t let your head run too much."
