The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign-Chapter 29 - 28: Qin Fan, You Forced My Hand!
Instead of going straight home, Qin Fan didn’t even bother with his Bentley. With his current mindset, he had grown quite indifferent to such worldly possessions. He walked to the side of the road, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for Jiangzhou’s largest medicinal herb market.
To solve Ye Congjun’s health problems, the items available in the market would be more than enough.
「At the same time.」
At Mountain and Water Manor, Zhou Xueman had been playing distractedly. The more she thought about things, the more frustrated she became. Gritting her teeth, she finally walked out. Just as she was about to start her car and leave, her phone suddenly rang.
"You useless trash! Why haven’t you dealt with that piece of garbage for me yet?" Zhou Xueman snapped the moment she saw the caller ID, her anger flaring.
"Zhou Xueman, you bitch! All fourteen of us, myself included, were crippled by that bastard! We’re all lying in the hospital right now, and the doctor even says I’m going to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair! Is this the useless trash you were talking about? Ah!" The young man, whose legs Qin Fan had crippled before extorting two hundred thousand from him, roared with ferocious rage.
Upon hearing the doctor’s report, he had nearly fainted on the spot. To think, at just over twenty, I’ll have to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair? What kind of life would that even be?
So when he made this call, what he wanted from Zhou Xueman was a guarantee of financial support for the rest of his life.
"What did you say?" Zhou Xueman exclaimed, her eyes widening in disbelief. In such a critical moment, she paid no mind to the caller’s vulgarity and continued, "How is that possible? A piece of trash that any Tom, Dick, or Harry could trample on crippled all of you? You know Qin Fan’s reputation. This is simply impossible! Did you get the wrong person and mess with someone you shouldn’t have?"
"There’s absolutely no way we got the wrong person! I don’t care if he’s trash anyone can bully. The problem now is that he crippled one leg of all thirteen of my brothers, and the doctor said I’ll have to rely on a wheelchair from now on! I’m not asking for much. Twenty million! You have to give us twenty million in compensation! Otherwise, I’ll show you just how insane a man with nothing left to lose can be!" the young man shrieked hysterically from his hospital ward.
He had accepted the job willingly, so he wouldn’t go so far as to blame Zhou Xueman. But to end up like this for a mere two hundred thousand? No matter what, he demanded that she provide appropriate compensation.
Twenty million... is that a lot? For me, right now, it feels like too little.
Just how insane can a man with nothing left to lose be? Hearing his ferocious, hysterical voice, a chill ran down Zhou Xueman’s spine. She took several deep breaths to steady herself. Swallowing in her suddenly dry throat, she said, "Let me think about it. I’ll give you an answer."
"You have three days," the young man said.
"Fine, three days!"
With that, Zhou Xueman hung up the phone and leaned back into the leather seat.
I know I can’t escape paying this twenty million. No matter how proud or aloof I am, I know this is a risk I can’t afford to take. If he really has to live a life worse than death in a wheelchair, then any crazy action he takes would be understandable. Risking my life over twenty million is not worth it!
Just the thought that these twenty million were lost because of Qin Fan made an endless hatred surge within her. Back then, I couldn’t even bring myself to accept one million from Zhao Yuhao, and now I’m losing twenty million. Twenty million... all because of a worthless piece of trash?
"Qin Fan, you forced my hand!" she seethed through clenched teeth, a vicious expression twisting her face.
Suddenly, she slammed the car into gear, stomped on the accelerator, and wrenched the steering wheel. The fiery red Maserati performed a sharp drift turn on the spot and roared out of Mountain and Water Manor.
「Ten minutes later.」
Zhou Xueman hurriedly walked into the same private club she had visited once before, heading for the teahouse on the eighth floor.
Zhao Yuhao was still brewing Kung Fu tea, just as he had been the last time. Hearing the footsteps behind him, he spoke without turning his head. "Speak. Don’t waste my time."
"Two million. Help me deal with the Qin family’s reject. I want him to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair," Zhou Xueman said, stopping in her tracks and getting straight to the point.
"Two million?" Zhao Yuhao said coolly. "Is that all you think I’m worth? Five million. Not a penny less."
"Fine!" Zhou Xueman agreed through gritted teeth, without a moment’s hesitation.
Compared to the twenty million being demanded as compensation, this five million was something she could accept.
"Planning to stay for tea?" Zhao Yuhao sneered, noticing that she was still lingering after agreeing.
"Boss Zhao, I’ll take my leave then!" Zhou Xueman said before turning and walking straight into the elevator.
But as she left, her heart was in turmoil. A sense of unease even began to creep in, though she couldn’t quite say from where.
This girl, barely eighteen years old but set to inherit a fortune worth tens of billions, was walking further and further down the path of madness.
「In the medicinal herb market.」
After spending over a million, Qin Fan walked out carrying a bag that weighed no more than five pounds.
If he were simply trying to solve Ye Congjun’s health problems, it would be easy. He could just infuse his True Qi into the man’s body to repair his blood vessels. But getting him to live to be a hundred years old, given the physique of a modern person, was absolutely impossible without a Nourishing Yuan Pill.
Although he only needed to concoct the lowest-grade Nourishing Yuan Pill from the Cangqiong Continent, ordinary herbs weren’t enough to bring out its full effect. Luckily, he had won a huge sum at Mountain and Water Manor, so this million-plus was just a drop in the bucket for him.
Back at the rental building, Qin Fan found the key to an empty room on the third floor. He grabbed a cooking spatula and a pan, along with the Yellow Paper he had previously bought for drawing Talismans, and carried everything with the herbs up to the empty room.
In the empty room, Qin Fan muttered to himself with a bitter smile. Fortunately, this is only the most common Nourishing Yuan Pill. If it were anything more, these simple pots and spatulas would never work. Finding a real Alchemy Furnace on Earth will probably be impossible. It seems that refining any high-level Elixirs here will be incredibly difficult.
He held out his left palm and directed an invisible stream of True Qi into its center. With his right hand, he gently tossed the frying pan forward as he released the True Qi from his left.
Suddenly, something that defied the laws of gravity happened.
Held aloft by the True Qi, the pan floated steadily about thirty centimeters above the ground. This was the first time Qin Fan had used True Qi since his rebirth and breakthrough into the Qi Refinement Realm, and he smiled in satisfaction.
Next, he opened the bag of herbs and poured them all into the pan. Though the herbs weighed about five pounds, the pan remained motionless, still floating in midair.
He picked up a sheet of Yellow Paper from the floor and quickly traced a pattern on it with his fingertips. In the next moment, the paper began to emit streaks of golden light. Already familiar with the steps, Qin Fan tossed the dazzling, golden-glowing Yellow Paper directly under the pan.
With a low shout, he commanded, "Golden Fire, rise!"
WHOOSH!!!
At his command, the Yellow Paper burst into a cluster of golden flames, blazing fiercely against the bottom of the pan.
