The Reaper's Wicked Obsession-Chapter 149: You Sit On The Throne, The Permission Is Earned
Chapter 149: You Sit On The Throne, The Permission Is Earned
The moment Isadora heard his threatening words, reality slipped back in—the horror of what almost happened consumed her.
’What did I just do?’ she thought, mortified. She’d rubbed herself against him and almost...
Her breath hitched as her mind went in a spiral. What in the name of the seven gods was she thinking?!
’No, no, no!’
Her plan backfired!
Kraven gripped her jaw in a possessive hold, reminding her of the consequences of her action.
He pinned her down with a look that caused her to liquify. She’d indeed played a dangerous game and if his little bunny thought she could get away with it, she thought wrong.
She wanted a show? Then he would gladly give it to her.
Isadora gasped, panicking, as she felt the pressure of his hand gripping her leathers, an impulsive need to rip it off.
"Cat got your tongue, love? Can’t handle the taste of your own poison?" He gripped her pants tighter. "I’m sure you’ll enjoy the taste when I fuck you in front of them."
Kraven tugged against the leather again and Isadora’s heart momentarily stopped as the image played in her head. It was not good!
Isadora quickly thought of something to distract him before he did something insane. He was borderline ready to give her the taste of her own poison and he looked far angry.
’Oh no!’ she thought, eager to not let him further embarrass her. Was it honestly worthy to be called an embarrassment if he does something shameful in front of his council?
"T-They made mention that you can’t go after the Court now, why?" Isadora asked.
Kraven paused at the unnecessary interruption, tilting his head to his side.
Good, she had his attention. Isadora knew this had something to do with his glorious purpose. This could work.
Moons ago Kraven mentioned something about taking the world. Even though she wasn’t experienced in politics she knew the Five Courts held strong power in the realm. Even a child having their first birth celebration knew that much.
The Five Courts were chosen by the gods and their power was absolute.
When Kraven mentioned taking the world, he meant the Court.
"The Court is the world you want to take, right?" she asked again, gaining relief from his divided attention.
"Close enough," he replied.
"You’ve got the warriors and yet you stall."
Kraven chuckled. "I’m not stalling, love, you know..." He leaned to her neck taking a whiff. "Power struggle is about making a statement."
"A s-statement?"
"They won’t fully recognize a threat if it’s stagnant, they see this Court as a bug they need to quash but not with intention."
"You want to feed on their fear."
A grin spread on his lips. "Precisely."
Of course, he did. This was Kraven, he didn’t want to be the bug, he wanted to play god.
Isadora turned her head back to the arguing council. They were mostly arguing about Kraven’s decisions because they all knew why he wanted to crush the serpents. It didn’t align with their purpose.
"Your council is divided," Isadora said with a frown watching the display, it was mostly Logi, Rav, and Nyssa who argued about something.
It was certainly because of her, she didn’t belong here. ’Does Rav disagree too?’ she thought. Seeing how heated he looked it gave her the answer she needed.
"Let them grunt all they want, it won’t change anything."
"Because that is always your way." She turned to him. "They are not inside your head, Kraven, they don’t know the full extent of how you think because you don’t reveal everything."
Kraven raised an eyebrow, leaning back on his seat, his fingers resting lightly over his lips "Logi knows."
"Certainly he does, but he’s like you, entertained by the chaos." She faced the council.
’Don’t do anything stupid, Isa, this doesn’t concern you,’ she thought, forcing herself to endure but the more she saw this knowing this was just brooding chaos for Kraven to entertain, she disliked it.
’He never lets them in his head,’ she thought as her fist clenched.
She had a feeling it was a mechanism for him. Kraven was always careful, she knew this because from the first time he had every opportunity to kill her because of his thirst but he didn’t.
He was careful and distant. And someone like him doesn’t know how to communicate their intent, striving only to use what they know best.
In Kraven’s case, he fed on pain, death, and chaos.
"I-I need your permission to speak."
Kraven narrowed his eyes at her request before saying. "You’re the one on the throne, love, the permission is already earned."
Isadora’s mouth was already moving before she could stop herself. "He’s trying to make a statement!"
Silence took over the hall at her outburst and their eyes turned to her. Feeling the weight of their stares caused a heavy need to retreat. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
But Kraven’s hand pinned on her waist reminded her of his presence, especially when he mindlessly rubbed against it.
This action may not be international, but it eased her a bit. Knowing unlike the rest of them he’d welcomed her opinion.
She had the permission to speak.
Ignoring their eyes and the pressure which hung in the air she opened her mouth again. "I-Its a statement. The Five Courts consider this place a bug, a fleeting nuisance. Destroying the Serpents—their puppets—is an opening you all need."
’Smart girl.’ Logi mentally praised, a smirk on his lips. When the rest of them argued, Isadora read through Kraven’s actions. He was impressed.
Nyssa placed her hands on her waist and faced the filth that thought she had the right to speak.
"And how would you know his true intentions?" she voiced grabbing their attention. "You’ve only known him for moons, Isadora, whilst us for Winters, far longer than before you were even born. Your words don’t matter to us who’s his ruling council."
Isadora’s fist clenched against her knees, as she glared at Nyssa in return who had just discreetly insulted her for being inexperienced.
Nyssa smirked. "Now and we should go back on discussing—"
"You’re so concerned with what I don’t know," Isadora spoke again, her tone holding an edge of anger but calm.
She was eager not to back down and let spiteful words be thrown her way. She did before when Nyssa whispered poison to her ears.
Isadora may not trust Kraven completely but she trusted those raw emotions he showed her that night when he declared she was the only woman he’d ever been with.
Nyssa scoffed, turning to her. She opened her mouth to speak but Isadora cut her off.
"Maybe I don’t understand him the way you think I should. But then, he’s never really tried to make you understand, has he?"
Nyssa’s face morphed into pure anger. ’You filth!’
"You claim you know his intentions yet you can’t see the true intent of his wishes. If you did, you wouldn’t be divided in his presence."
