The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 96: The Chosen Fate - IV
Never had never imagined for a prince to bend down on his knee in front of the man willingly. Prince Terence held out a huge emerald ring in his hand that was raised in between us as he stared into my eyes with such intensity and passion that I wanted to look away.
"Princess Genevieve," he said in a surprisingly strong voice, " I know that what I am about to do now was something that my first ever supposed to dream of but I want to give you a choice. Will you do me the honour to have you as my wife? Will you marry me?"
I could not control my breathing as I hurt his question again and again in my mind. Will I marry him? Do I want to? Did I not expect this to happen all my life?
"I understand that is expected of us but I want to give you a choice for this. Entering a marriage with me would be setting us off into a new life and I want you to have a choice and I would freely respect whatever you choose but I also want to tell you that if you say yes there are responsibilities that you are agreeing to."
Responsibilities that I agreed to? It seemed like getting into a proposal that could have been killed.
I wondered what he was truly getting me into. I knee of the responsibilities I had as a married Princess and then a Queen but he made it sound like I agreed to something more than I know about.
I heard a small sound, perhaps a snap of wood and immediately glanced into the direction to find my father along with the rest of my family watching us. They were everywhere and they were just witnessing the moment.
I could feel the stair of everyone boring into me even though they were standing quite a powerful stop no one had expected me to say no in fact they probably did not expect this to happen but here we were. My legs were shaking I could feel that I wanted to say no that no was on the tip of my tongue but I could not say it. . .
"Yes." I uttered the word but immediately felt myself to be buried with huge amounts of guilt. The Prince held my hand but I was not in the moment I felt something slip on to my finger but all I could see was something watching me from afar, someone instead.
"Thank you princess genevieve. I hope the life we spend together is full of happiness and joy." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Roars of joy, cries and happiness along with loud clubs were her and I could feel people coming towards me but the hair at the end of my neck. Someone was watching me and it was not the people that had already come closer, it was someone else.
A pinch was felt on my waist and I immediately looked to the hand of Marilyn, who probably had realised that I was not in the moment and tried to bring me back as I smiled to everyone and thanked them for the hearty congratulations.
The feeling did not go away and I tried to look back but only to be brought forward by someone else trying to congratulate me.
I swallowed my own spirit as I could feel the small building up sweat on my hairline. I turned around half way and tried to see who it was. Except for the people that were congratulating us, there was no one else.
I turned around and focused on the people again.
"Well, this all calls for a feast!" Augustus nodded with a huge smile. "I shall immediately give the instructions for it to be prepared!"
Terrence laughed along with my father. I think Terrence had already told my father about the proposal which is why they had decided to send me a way with him one day after today probably because they were going to get drunk heavily tonight.
"Let us all go in." Mira smiled and moved along with everyone but not me. I could not shake off the feeling that I was being watched which is why I turned around once more from where I felt the eyes on me only to see a flash of red gone in a blink.
What?
"Princess," Merilyn ran to me and stood beside as she gently try to check me out of what I was in. I had no idea what was happening. Why did it seem like—
"We must go in!" She whispered hurriedly. "They all think that you are too happy but shy to move along with the prince. I think it is the right time for you to enter now, the rest can be taken care of later."
The rest was my feelings that she thought I might have feelings for Tristan.
"Did you, when we were leaving Tristan’s house, did you see his eyes?" I asked in a low whisper as we were walking. Keeping the word in between us.
"Yes, I did. Why?" She said in the same voice.
I gulped. "They were read, were they not? They were like two little rubies but slightly darker in colour, were they not?" I asked her but in my mind I was terrified of the rejection she might tell me of. It could not be my imagination because when I asked him about it he had also deflected the question.
She frowned as if trying to remember what it was like. "No, I do not remember to be red. I think they were like. . . Brown?"
"Brown ?" I spat out the word. " How could they be bro—" I halted immediately.
’ Genevieve. . .’
"Did you hear that?" I turned around and scouted the area thoroughly. I remember the voice, I remember how he took my name. It has to be him!
"Hear what?" She turned around with a concerned expression. "What are you talking about? There is no one here except us."
" There it was!" I asserted, " I heard it!" I looked around again to see him. There was no one here which meant meridian was right but I heard my name. It could not be the wind and I could not hear my name from the wind itself!
"Princess," she whispered and I looked over to her, her forehead was creased and she had her hands on my back, "maybe we should go inside and you should rest before the feast tonight."
Rest? "But he—"
"Come with me," she placed her hand on my elbow and we walked inside.
He was there. I was sure of it. I had heard my name over it but it had to be his voice but then again how could it? He was too weak to stand up from the bed so travelling to another country continuously for a week was something completely out of the question.
I glanced back again, but there was no one.
*********
"He is getting better." The father sighed, "A miracle it is."
"Her blood is responsible for this. We need her more. She went back to her country, how are we going to get more?" The aunt tsked in irritation. "You could have made her stay for longer."
The mother snorted. "At what cost? She is getting married, we have to look out for that too. If that is not enough then also if she was not found they would all come looking for her."
The healer shook his head. " Speedy recovery would be made with her blood. I suppose the blood of a relative would be fine but her blood would work wonders for him."
" Whatever it is we get," the father waved it off, " he and his group of friends alone would be more powerful than any army combined so we do not need to worry about him being fully recovered to fight them all. We need to worry about him waking up."
" Which we would need her for!" The aunt hissed. " He woke up as soon as she stepped in and was affected as soon as she stepped out. Even if you try to keep her away his beast inside senses her, yearns for her and we cannot do anything about it."
" Perhaps we should go after her then. There might be a few windows where we could take advantage of ans take her blood for his health. I am sure that in the long run she would understand this was for the survival of a Kingdom." The healer shrugged.
The mother was a silent spectator finally added in her words. "He is a Prince after all. He deserves a chance to The throne and cannot be deprived of that under any circumstances."
"We’ll make sure of it." Her husband kissed her shoulder, easing her worries. "We are powerful enough to provide him with the chance that he deserves."
"He will be the king." A new voice was announced. "Not his brother; the son of that wretched woman, but on his head would be the crown."
