Chapter 97: The cloaked man.

Once again in the middle of the night I found myself walking into the royal graveyard veg generations of ancestors of the house of Hearthron were laid down for burial.

The familiar of grave of my mother Queen Cynthia came to my sight and I would the light of the latern. The gaurds, once again, who thought was following me secretly stopped short at the entrance from where they could see me and assess the surroundings for any possible threat.

"Mother," the word was not devoid of any emotions that I was feeling. The pain, the feeling of longing, the anguish, the sadness that I felt was all in this one word. "How is it that I am going through so much all at once?" I sniffed closed my eyes, trying to breathe for more courage to carry on with my words.

"How is it that for the first time and I was being given a choice by a prince no less of a country more stronger than mine I could only think of one man.. . ." I looked at her headstone, " how did you do it? How did you convince everyone to let you marry my father? A commoner?"

" I apologize to having cause intrusion, " I snapped my head back immediately as you had shared to interrupt my time with my mother and have had the guards let the man pass, "birthday task I bring to come to you is of the utmost importance."

" Konrad?" I stood up as I soon realised that it was him before brightening the light of the latern. "How did you?" I look back to the gaurds once again and they were nowhere to be found. How this man managed to do this every time was something I could never understand.

"Now, back to my task," he directed my attention back towards him, "I need your blood."

"What?" I stared at him incredulously. "What do you mean? And whatever for do you need my blood?"

He tightened his lips and reached one of his pockets to retrieve a small vile probably as small as my thumbs, " I did not ask you why you’re helping a man out of the prison over you had injured a God severely. Now you do not get to ask me why I need your blood for. The moment you give your blood and I leave a wager would be complete unless until you call us once again."

I glanced at the while as I heard his words. If it was all a small quantity of blood required for me to complete the better that we had I was ready to give it. But what purpose was taking it for concern me. I was a believer of God and devil which is why I did not want him to practice blackmagic at the expense of me.

"Why?" I stressed. "You need to tell me what you are taking my blood for. As a God fearing citizen I must ask you to tell me the reason."

He sighed harshly. "Forgive me but I am not allowed to tell you the reason. Trust me I want to tell you that as well as it would speed up the process but I am not allowed." He gritted out the last words as it hurt him as well. "How about without using this as another barter I make sure that the next five days that you have to travel to another country go by a blink of an eye."

That had manage to get my attention immediately. "What?"

He nodded. " Yes and you will not have to owe me it as well."

I raised my palm towards him and he placed the violin it and stepped back to where he was standing away.

With the small thing in my hand I realise that I had nothing to cut my palm with. Conrad must have understood because within seconds you step forward with a small knife in his hands.

Without thinking twice I cut my thumb and filled the vile.

"Wake up my dear," I caressed my sister’s hair, "Good morning." I smiled and wished for her as soon as she opened her eyes.

"It’s too bright." She complained immediately without opening her eyes as our routine was.

"Wait," she opened one of our eyes and I watched her antics in amusement, "why is it not bright at all?"

I laughed and kissed her forehead. "That is because it is dawn, the sun is yet to rise. I have woken you up earlier than usual today." I informed her and she abruptly got up from the bed.

" What? Why would you do that to me?" She cried. "I want to sleep more!" She said before turning around and lying back on the bed with her back facing me.

I sighed and answered her question. "Because today is the morning that I am leaving. We are leaving before sunrise, Katherine. I thought you would like to meet me before I left."

" What?" She sprang up from the bed immediately taking me by surprise. Without thinking twice and waiting for a moment for to get ready she threw her arms around me and hugged me tightly to her chest making near reciprocate her actions.

" I did not know." She said in a muffled voice as she spoke into my shoulder. "God Genevieve, earlier you were sick and now you are going away so suddenly I feel like I have not spent any time with you recently."

I closed my eyes in shame as a remember that I had faked my sickness because I wanted to find out more about the creatures of the night. I had landed myself in nothing but trouble because of that.

Neither did I find about the creatures of the night or even remotely come close to that nor have I contributed to any of that. It was a complete waste of time. More so I had fallen in love with the man who I could never imagine marrying.

"I know love," I patted her back lovingly like a mother would. "Perhaps after a few months you could come to me and we could spend time as much as you want together."

I pulled apart and patted her cheek. Kissing her forehead bid her farewell.

"Only grown ups will be there Catherine. I apologise but you cannot come to see me off which is why I decided to come to see you personally." I told her when she begged need to come and let her see me of. This was something children were not allowed to do even I did not know why but since it was early in the morning I did not want to disturb her sleep.

"Do not worry," I kissed her forehead again, "We will meet each other soon."

Estelle on the other hand was quite bitter about the farewell. My strong-willed sister was not ready to shed a tear unlike my younger sister Katherine who was balling her eyes out.

"Princess," The Prince immediately provided me with his help to step on the horse. Even though I did not needed as I had the steps with me I grateful he took his hand and smiled at him thanking him for his help as I climbed on the horse.

Dare, I say my father did not even bid me farewell. His only focus was how was the prince faring.

As the prince smiled are all of them at once more. He stepped forward and one step behind, I with my horse followed along with the rest of the company we had.

We have entered the Jungle and instead of walking behind us now the guards had surrounded as completely.

"I hope that you are not too much trouble by the journey. Palanquins, I have had a much more comfortable." He smiled and talked in a hushed voice to which I smiled, genuinely interested in the conversation as well.

" They are, but I am used to travelling host rights as well. Not for long hours at a stretch but perhaps I could make do." I giggled slightly at his charming sight. I omitted out information that I had also travelled in a carriage that also had animals in it.

He chuckled. "That is good to know, perhaps we could travel together in the future."

I blushed at that. Future and the mountain of uncertainty it held always managed to unnerve me.

Even though I had always imagined my life to be a monotonous written and chosen by fate but now how drastically has changed to me loving someone else with my whole heart and how he have managed to occupy my entire mind.

Is that how my mother said for my father question mark was this very possible that even though I knew he and I was so far away yet he was the one who was able to occupy my mind.

I glanced at the prince next to me. Perhaps if god willed, we could have a happy marriage instead of a loving one.
