The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 88: A Bleeding Princess- II
"How is it that even with guards that were trained for taking care of the Royal family no one managed to see the face of the intruders?!" The queen yelled out in anger. "I am quite surprised by the incapacity of my guards. I should behead the lot of you!"
Everyone heard her but no one even try to comment on what she was saying. The queen was furious and the word furious would just be an understatement.
She was raging.
Not only were the royal guest was attacked, it at a was a princess of another country and the queen had seen that their security had completely failed in front of me.
She was ashamed on the inside and outside she was showing her anger at those who had failed her.
"Are you still feeling weak?" She aksed me and I looked at her, I was a bit hazy still. "What am I even asking, of course you are still weak." She muttered and cupped my cheek. "You should go rest."
I nodded but then I thought of Lara and another thing came to my mind. Perhaps it might work in my favour as the Queen would try to have me well rested before I would start my journey for my country.
"Your highness," my voice was croaky but I tried to talk still, "how about you leave me here, for the timing, to rest. The healer seems fully capable and if I go back in this condition and you are seen in the royal infirmary nursing and helping me it might raise suspicions."
The queen stared at me with hesitation but she had also understood what my words meant. No one had seen me and if more people so they would recognise me when I was married announced to the public eye. It would only races patients to what I was doing in the palace of another country without the knowledge of my father.
"Perhaps I could." She nodded thinking about it and then glanced at the guards. "They would stay here as long as you’re here with you. And this time I expect a better job otherwise you might as well say goodbye to your families." She warned them I saw one shiver.
This was not an empty threat and they all knew that.
*******
Lara had previously fallen asleep but now that she had woken up Marilyn had informed me and I had gone to her room to ask for her health as well.
"You do not need to worry about me I am as fine as I was earlier!" She said in her usual chatty voice making me believe her. "Are both of you good? Did you get hurt too?"
"We did, but we are fine now." Merilyn answered her as I was still a bit weak and now it hurt to even talk.
"How far is the cabin in the woods?" I aksed her in a coarse whisper. This was an opportunity.
"What?. . Oh," Lara’s eyes widened, "My brother would be better by now. From here the cabin would be at a good distance for which we have to walk but if we leave around the time of dinner the might reach in time there and come back by the morning." She then looked a bit hesitant to say but still did, "I mean, that is only if you stay for some time."
I sighed and closed my eyes before holding my head in my hands.
This was a difficult choice to make. I was not well but if I wanted to visit Tristan this was the only time that I could do it without having to worry about the guards chasing after me.
"I think we should do this." I turned to looked at Merilyn, "I will give you the money to arrange for the horses. We should be there in time and I could stay for longer then, right?" I asked Lara who nodded excitedly.
"Are you sure?" Merilyn was concerned but I wanted to do this.
I nodded with a firm expression on my face making Merylin nod too.
*******
"I will lock my door from the inside as well, all of us will." I told the guard who nodded in understanding. It was understood that where did more than ten men guarding the house we had to make sure that our rooms were locked from inside as there were only four ladies staying inside.
"My lady, here." The healer handed me a small glass vial, "take this after dinner and have a good, long sleep. It will help in healing."
I nodded and all of us, including two guards ate dinner after which I retired.
I was ready to leave out of the window when someone knocked on my door. "Yes, who is it?"
"It’s is Gart, your grace." Ah, so that was the name of the Messenger.
"Yes, gart what is it?"
He opened the door but did not enter. He raised his hand and I still for a small moment. "You left this, my lady. You must have it for a good recovery." He raised it towards me and I knew what he was doing.
He wanted me to drink it in front of him.
"Thank you, Gart. I will have it before retiring to bed." I took it from and went to close the door when he stepped inside by placing a foot on the threshold of the door.
"The queen has asked me to take care of you and the most I could do in this situation is make sure that you take your medicines properly. Please excuse me your grace, I have to ask you to take the medicine in front of me."
I looked at the vile. It would make me asleep within moments but if I did not take it the Messenger would surely be suspicious.
Twisting the top of it, I gulped the contents of it in a go and gave him the bottle for satisfaction.
"Thank you, my lady." He bowed and stepped back. "I will let you rest."
I closed my eyes and barely held the cry in. I was so angry!
"Psst!" Frowning, I look out the window where Lara stood with a huge grin on her face. "Do not worry Layla, I changed the contents of it! You are fine! Let us go now!"
