The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 53: Market of flesh -III
We had reached the market and at the first glance, I gasped at the horrific activities taking place right in front of me. Those were what I could see through the entrance.
I stopped short in front of it. There was absolutely no way, that I could gather the courage to walk in.
"Come." I felt him grab my elbow.
"Wh-No!" I hissed as tears gathered into my eyes. I was not going in there. "Are you given looking at what is happening inside your kingdom? How can you turn a blind eye to all of it?!" I hissed in his face, harshly pulling my arm out of his grip.
Her lips thinned and he glanced at be market once before turning to me. "do not make me regret bringing you here."
I rebuked back, "Instead of that, why don’t you regret letting this market exist in the first place?" This was sin.
His eyes glinted again and he raised a brow a bit higher. "Do you want to find the girl or not?" He muttered low, for only my ears to hear what you wanted to say. "Because that good for nothing merchant, cannot bring you to this market." Tristan would never.
"And only you can?" I chuckled. How many had he bought?
The glint in his eyes shone brighter. "Yes," he nodded with his lips tilted upwards, "Unlike him, there many facilities that I can provide you with the blink of an eye."
"Really?" I did not beat around’ the bush and challenged his words directly he nodded confirming that he could do it.
"Stop the market then." I presented, "Stop the market and stop The torture that is being done on people."
He sighed and look away for me as if bored by the conversation itself. "As I said earlier, there are a lot of things you do not understand as a princess who was just kept inside the palace walls. I assume that I stand correct in saying that you have no idea how certain things work. Allow me tell you, the market of the flesh is none of your concerns and you should leave it. Our main concern is getting the girl out but if you want we can turn back and leave."
He knew what he had presented me with and what limited options I had, I was already aware of them. I gulped and looked away from his face he knew that he had cornered me well.
Also, the prince failed purposely. They were getting the profits then.
"I cannot go in," I answered him firmly. "I can wait here."
He scoffed. "There is no way in seven hells that I would let you stand outside the market vulnerable to all those vendors to come and abduct you." He growled. "You are either way coming inside, either by your own, to stand alone or to walk with me as I find out where the girl was brought in or not."
"What difference would it make?" How was it any benefit if I entered the market alone or with him? If I was entering the market then I might as well walk with him.
"If you are inside the market then it proves you to be influential enough for no one would ever try to even touch you." He answered and look at me for mine.
I did not want to be abducted and those men won’t abduct someone powerful and rich.
"I’ll go alone," I said, ready to take it on.
Both of his eyebrows shot up for a brief moment and he scoffed looking at me, "You," he pointed at me, "think that you can walk in there alone and come out safe and sound and not get abducted?"
I smiled back, sweetly at him. "I thought it was you that said that if I walked inside, I was influential enough to not get harmed."
It was so satisfying to watch the change in his expressions. From mocking, he had gone to being frustrated within moments.
He gave out a long sigh as if trying to not snap at me and control His anger from lashing out. He turned back and snapped his fingers making a man come forward.
"He is going to be with you inside." The Prince informed me. "This is my most trusted man and will accompany you throughout. If you ever separate from him, my advice would be to find him first and then move forward." He said seriously and all of this I was going to Remember.
I nodded and he nodded to the man who stepped along and walked to me.
"He knows how long it is going to take for me to ask around for the girl. When he tells you to leave, follow him on the way out." The prince informed and I nodded before moving into the market itself. I sent a small prayer to God knowing that what I was going to see, It was sin being committed rght in front of my eyes and I was doing nothing to prevent it.
I gave out a shaky sigh as I stepped to the threshold of the market and immediately was met with the sight of young boys and girls tied in chains and all bloodied and bruised.
My heart truly ached for them so much so that I had to lower my eyes to the ground because I could no longer hold them off and look at them.
This was a mistake. I could not do it.
How could be the followers of God the ones who talked of his creations, buy and sell people of our kind? How had we fallen so far?
I gulped and continued to walk forward and behind me, the guard walked, keeping a respectful distance in between us.
There were children in all kinds of shops which were yet similar to each other.
"How dare you!" I heard and jumped up in fright. A big fat man whom I assumed to be a vendor threw down a boy in chains sickly and pale, bruised and bloodied. He was too weak to even get up or open his eyes and coughed out blood immediately.
"You are of no use to me anymore! Die!" He roared and whipped him with a leather belt. "I have wasted too much of my resources on you, yet you fail to bring me anything. Perhaps I could be merciful for once and give you death!"
My heart was still when I saw him reach for the dagger in his belt and advance to the boy.
"Stop!" I cried out in pain for him. "Stop it at once!" I shouted at the top of my voice attracting everyone’s attention.
