Chapter 287: A sister’s letter - II

’Dear Sister,

I hope everything is well, as well as it can be over your side. I know things are going to be hard without my presence and the estranged relationships with Astria especially when the vampires have taken over the country.

I must tell you that there is no help coming from here anymore. They are barbaric, murderous kind of people that even leave the kingdom of Lythoris behind them.

They drink and eat food blessed with blood. In fact, I can say that it is almost raw and bloody in nature when they eat it.

They hunt their prey but the prey or not animals, they are humans. Yes, you read it right sister. They prey on humans.

And they do it with no humanity because it died long ago for them.

They make the humans run deep inside the forest before running inside after them. It is a game to them, a game that they play while hunting for their food and once they find it, they devour it whole. Leaving no life whatsoever behind.

My help is no longer anything that you require at this point. I can only imagine the turmoil going inside the country at this point.

The hell coming from the country that I was supposed to wade in was essential and something we were banking on but since it is no longer available, you have to search for different resources and make different alliances now.

Sister, I have no clue when I would ever be able to come out of this kingdom. If I would be able to do it alive or not. So you have to make this journey without me but I do know a few rumours from the staff of the palace is self that I would like to inform you about;

The vampires are going to expand the kingdom. We are going to conquer almost all four of the kingdoms and they’re going to start with us, us being the weakest first. We would be the easiest conquer.

Second is what I have heard about the north. You must make your journey not to make alliances with the king over there. It is going to be a long and learn the journey but the king will certainly help us once he learns the presence of the vile creatures.

I have to end my letter here, the pages are hard to find and I was able to scavenge for these. Please be reminded of the Second information. You must make your journey to the north and make alliances with the king. The vampires will attack melenmore.

Your dearest,

Genevive.’

Estelle past the five small pages containing the handwriting of a sister to her Lady in waiting taria.

Once the pages were taken away from her, she stood up and moved to stand in front of the balcony that had one of the most beautiful views to their gardens. That was the benefit of the apartments of the queen. They only got the view of the sunset but their mother had the view of the entire Garden and the mountains of the north.

The north...

The vampires were going to attack, which made her suspicion come true. It also meant that she had to make new alliances just as her sister had stated. But what she was supposed to make new alliances with, that barbaric kingdom down South was nothing worth to spend the time with.

They would demand something way too precious to help them fight a war that would benefit them also.

Rejecting the alternatives would leave her with only one option and that was to choose the kingdom residing in the north of the world. But how was she supposed to make alliances with the kingdom that she didn’t even know had anyone living there in the first place.

The snow was too thick as she had heard, too thick for any human inhabitation so how was an entire country to survive there?

"What am I to do now, Taria?" Estelle exhaled a deep breath. "I do not have many that stand with me, and if I send people to make alliances with the north then who am I left with here?"

Taria came closer and stood behind the Princess. "Maybe before the alliance, we should increase the number of the blueberry cakes we gave to the people. Unfortunately, your father does not have much time left and when he passes away as the king, the crown will land, more likely, on the head of your step brother. So I guess this is the time we have to act."

That was true. The crown would learn on the head of her brother, August this. So it would not matter if she made alliances with the north or not. She had to do it as the Queen, when she would have the power in her hands to make and forge the alliance.

Until then, it was just word of mouth, a simple promise but nothing that one could hold another responsible for.

"Then I suppose you know what to do. Increase the poison and increase the cakes. I want them dead by the end of the month." Estelle turned around to face Taria, "father dearest has at least until that. After the death of all these people, his supporters and supporters of my brothers, let me see how the crown lands on the head of anyone else but mine."

And after which she could finally bring her sisters home without the fear of them being sent into another kingdom for the sake of marriage and alliances or assassination.

She had to kill all of them. There was no way she could trust a crooked and corrupt official after he had turned to the side of the enemy.

That was one of the mistakes her mother made. Traitors always deserved death and that was what the people were going to receive that had betrayed the crown and the bloodline.

"Yes, Your highness." Taria bowed deeply, "not long then."

Not long, Estelle nodded, but not too soon as well.
