Chapter 238: A Queen’s will - III

Was I ready to go in front of a group of people that had been told that I was dead and Marilyn was responsible for it?

Not really.

But I had to do it. I placed my hand in his, comforted by the slight warmth his hand had, and nodded to him. I had to be courageous enough because I wanted to do it. Aron deserved this. Tristan and I walked out of the room together and found his uncle and Chiara waiting for us at the end of the hallway. They were looking at us, waiting for us to catch up to them.

Once we were in the earshot, Chiara spoke to Tristan, "Lara will be doing the honors of telling the humans. I shall explain everything to her."

What? I stopped and stared at her in disbelief.

"B-but," I scoffed, "did we not just talk about me standing up for myself?"

"We did," Chiara answered frowning lightly, "Why?" she asked as if she did not understand the whole point which only made me feel angry.

"Because this is my idea! And rightfully so, it is in my hands to declare it to everyone. Then why are you asking Tristan to let Lara do it?"

Chiara watched me carefully with the tilt of the head. "You have a lot to learn about. I think we can start here." She told me.

"What is that supposed to mean?" I barely kept my voice low. "Why can’t you talk about anything except riddles?"

She shook her head as she continued to watch me with amusement in her eyes. That irritated me the most. "Tristan knows what I am talking about. You will understand it sooner than later or in your case later than sooner. You shall learn how many factors you are to consider when you make a decision."

What factors? Was she seriously telling a princess, the one who was born into this, what factors were to be considered?

I glared at her. "I think I know what factors are to be considered. If anything I have seen my father make thousands of announcements as the king-"

"Tell Lara," Tristan said, cutting me off, "I want to be fully prepared for what might happen."

I could not believe it. I understood his aunt who had barely known me and I was the reason her nephew almost died at the hands of the royal family but I did not understand him. Why would he take an opportunity away from me?

I stared at him before Looking away and blinking my eyes repeatedly. I did not want anyone to see a tear rolling down my cheek on this.

"You agreed that this idea could work out yet you’re not going to let me do this? Did you not understand?" I looked at Chiara, "a human doing this has a greater impact than a vampire, creature of the night that has taken many from them and killed too."

"Stop it," Tristan warned and I looked at him to find anger swimming in those red orbs. What was he angry about? How was I at fault here?

"Stop what?" I whispered to him, shocked at his antics. "Stop what, Tristan? She’s the one that’s—"

"Enough," He raised his hand, showing me the palm, a clear indication for me to stop. "I do not want to hear anything more on this matter, Genevieve. If you cannot understand why we are doing this then I cannot tell you." He turned to his aunt, "Let her know what to do and expect."

He was completely ignoring me now. He addressed his aunt as if I was not there and this had not been stolen from me. Why was he doing this? I just could not wrap my head around this that Tristan was doing.

His aunt nodded and left along with her husband leaving me alone with Tristan. Instead of asking another question I simply turned around to leave. I did not want to stay with him anymore, especially after what happened.

"Genevieve,"

I stopped but did not turn around. I did have the courage to look at anyone after I was defeated.

"I expect you to be there in the morning."

I slightly turned around to look at him. "Why? What use am I going to be of when you have allowed someone else to do my part?" Without waiting for him to answer, I turned around and walked away from him.

His face appeared in front of me in a flash and I stepped back at the suddenness of it. He did not say anything immediately and continued to stare at me as I calmed my chest trying to calm down my breathing.

He appeared out of nowhere!

"What?" I muttered in hopes of having him talk finally.

"I said I want you to be there when the announcement is made tomorrow morning." He stepped closer and I simultaneously took one back. "Do I have to be any more clear on this or would you rather have me say this in another language?"

"I don’t want to—"

He cut me off, "I want you to." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Oh, really? "Well then, if the king wants it, what can I do about it?" I smiled through the tears, I did not understand why they were here, turned around and walked away.

When I turned around the hallway I finally closed my eyes and let them fall. Here I could see no one and I hoped that no one could hear me crying.

Once I was in my room I broke down completely as I kneeled by the bed. I sniffed as I wiped my tears. Was I supposed to trust anyone? His aunt tried to give me a lesson to stand up for myself but she took the opportunity away after placing it in my hands.

She wanted Lara to do it? She wanted her daughter to do something that was my Idea and Tristan allowed it.

That hurt me more than anything.

It was my idea. It was my efforts and it was taken away by them so conveniently. Was there any difference between them and any other royal family I had ever seen?

I think not.
