The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 237: A Queen’s will - II
Sir Dawson sighed and looked over to Chiara. "What do you think about it, my love? I find it to be reasonable."
Chiara nodded, "I do too." She whispered as her eyes moved to me. "Remarkable idea it is, that we thought of earlier, but what makes you think it would work now?"
I glanced at Tristan who had conveniently handed over all the responsibilities of answering the questions to me whose idea it was.
I looked back at his aunt. "Nothing has changed except the fact that people will know the truth. Whosoever will be at fault will be punished and that is it."
When I presented Tristan with my idea who remotely had an idea about what I was going to say, his immediate reaction was to consult his family members before going over it with his ministers.
"I am afraid that is not convincing enough." Chiara shook her head in disapproval but I challenged her back,
"Why not? For all you need to make them she is how unbiased Tristan will be as a king. There is nothing else that we need to show them for now."
Her eyes narrowed very slightly and if I was not staying at her I would have not noticed it. "You are a young girl who has never been involved in politics unlike your sister and you think you know what to do?"
I frowned at the remarks About my sister. "How do you know about Estelle participating in the court?" She was not surprised to know that. As far as I remember only I knew about my sister and the participation in a court of the kingdom I was born in. As far as it came for Marylin, I knew she would never say a word and was permitted by me.
Chiara looked pointedly at Tristan as if she was proving a point here. "How is she going to talk to anyone or present opinions on a topic when she cannot focus on what to say and if we talk about it doesn’t even know what to focus on." She scoffed at the end of it and I could feel myself shrinking in my seat.
"My love," Dawson addressed her with a resigned look over his face, "you must consider the idea and what she is thinking about it. After all—"
Chiara sighed loudly and silenced her beloved. I saw Tristan and he was already looking at me. I found myself losing even before I had begun. How was I supposed to win her? Better than that, why was she even involved?
He arched his eyebrow and looked in the direction of his aunt. It was as if he was reading my mind and asking why I was not going forward?
I licked my lip in nervousness that I felt before looking at her. "Well then, fortunately enough the decision does not rest in your hand. Whose hand it rests in, is not being considered. Tristan, what do you have to say about this?"
"Well then," Chiara snapped at Tristan, " what would it be?"
His eyes—we controlled them before they could widen a fraction and turned to his aunt directly. He completely ignored me.
"I think we should." He glanced at me. "She is a human. She must know what they want from us." Sir Dawson looked hopeful which gave me confidence.
Chiara hissed under her breath. "If humans knew what they wanted then they would have reached heights more than we had. None of them are even loyal to one another and you want us to trust what she has to say? Humans are fickle minded!"
Every insult was an arrow through my heart. People changed according to their wants and no one was loyal until they had something to receive in return which is why she was right and I had no argument.
I could feel all three of them looking at me but I returned my eyes to the floor. She was right and how was I supposed to defend myself?
"Would the princess like to say something or is she going to keep mum?" Chiara taunted me, making me close my eyes.
I shook my head. She had me there.
I could not control it. "What is it that you want then? Do you want a man, exactly the age of Tristan, to die with something that he did not even have complete fault in?" I spat not with holding my anger anymore. "The least I can do is at least try to protect him and make sure that the culprit is punished just as he is, if he even has a fault in it, and there you are challenging me at every turn. Can you come up with a better solution than I have?!"
I did not care to look at Dawson and Tristan but continued to stare hard at Chiara.
She was wrong here. How was I supposed to help someone when I had not even begin of thinking something. If she wanted she could help us make the Idea more practical rather than just shutting it down.
Chiara stared back at me equally hard before she leaned back into the chair and a smile graxed her facial dear. "Next time," she pointed a finger at me, "when someone tells you that they do not believe in your Idea you do not shut down like you did two times before standing up for yourself. If you ever want to be the queen you wished for, standing up for your belief is the very first step on the ladder."
She stood up as she walked towards the door. Instead of exiting the room she stood there, "and the ladder is very long." She stepped out of the room with her husband behind her without another word from both of them.
I stared at the door before slumping my shoulders in relief. "So, This was all a ploy?" I looked at Tristan who sat down in the place of his aunt. "She was challenging me but not really?"
Instead of answering me he walked closer and held his hand out, "Let us put that to test, shall we? Because the real challenge is going to be the people that stand outside this palace."
I gulped.
"Are you ready?" He asked as he continued to hold his hand out.
