The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 212: Dinner with the kingโs - III
My step faltered and it went noticed by Tristan because I could feel his hand come up to my back as he gently pushed me forward. And before I knew it I was sitting on the throne while everyone was looking at me. ๐๐ฟ๐๐๐ฐ๐ฒ๐๐ง๐ ๐ง๐ฒ๐ฅ.๐๐จ๐
When the musicians started to play the instruments everyone looked away from us and started their conversations. I could feel their gaze on me from time to time.
"You were reluctant,"
I looked at Tristan to find him looking at me as he said his observation. I nodded.
"Why? I thought you agreed to give this a chance?"
I frowned slightly realising that he was talking to me while the entire courtroom was filled with the creatures that could hear everything no matter how quietly it was said.
"Donโt worry about that," he took my hand in his, "there is a spell casted on this room. No one can hear anything and even if they can, one learns to tune unwanted things out."
Not enough reassuring it was.
I could feel his eyes on me as he waited for his answer. I gave in. "I did agree to give this a chance Tristan but I never agreed to go so far to sit on the seat of a queen."
"That does not matter because youโve always meant to be my queen and sit by my side. The question was of the time." He interlaced our fingers. "This was bound to happen."
"Was it?" I hissed as I glared at him. "It feels like I am giving you my finger to hold and you just held my entire hand."
"Your entire body is mine. I do not see why I cannot hold my hand."
I looked away hurriedly and watched the entire room to see if anyone had heard his words or not. I found this to be surprising. How could he say that!
He did not leave my hand and as I gave it a discreet glance I noticed that the chair of the king and queen was much closer than it usually was.
I looked at the ballroom. It was decorated beautifully and the floors were shined to the extent that there was no difference between the mirror and the floor underneath needing my shoes. The thick curtains that would read on the side of the walls were made of pure silk. The candles and chandeliers lit it all around giving it a soft glow in the ballroom and the musicians played the soft music beautifully.
It was as if everything was normal. No creature of the dark lurked around neither them nor did their threat. They just seemed like normal people that I had grown up with.
"Where is king Darius?" I whispered to him who peeked at me.
"He wonโt be here soon. The moment it is time for dinner, he will appear."
"But that is not how itโs done. As the king he is supposed to be here and attend the ball with us before going to dinner." That was how it was done. Why was he not here?
He smiled at me slightly. "I know that my dear, but balls, by the supernatural, are used as a common ground to meet people and find out about their loved ones. Darius has not found one for himself which is why he refrains from going."
I nodded as I glanced around the room only for the dinner gong to be rung.
I huffed silently as the announcement was made, it was addressed to me and Tristan first and then everyone. I wanted to know more.
He stood up first and held his hand out in my direction. I placed mine in his as if it was the most natural action to do. We walked to the dining room only for me to frown slightly. There was only one seat at the table instead of two.
I looked at him in question. Where was I supposed to sit?
"Come on," he gave me a light push, nudging me forward. I did move but I stared at the single chair. Why was he not asking for another to be brought?
"Uh," I turned to Tristan only to watch his actions. Tristan stepped forward, held out the chair and sat making me stare at him in silence. Where was I supposed to sit now?
"Take a seat love," Tristan said and it was the expression on his face that made me doubt his intent. Why did it look like he was sneaking his way into something?
"Where?"
He patted his lap in answer.
His lap, of all places, his lap.
I widened my eyes as I saw his hand on his lap before looking away to the entire room in front of us. I wanted to see if someone had seen him behaving like that.
But what I saw in front of me had completely taken Me by surprise.
Almost every one that I could find appearing to be a couple had their spouse sitting on their laps. Most of the women were on the laps of men.
Even his aunt and cousins were doing that and what surprised me most was none of them appeared to be slightly unwanting.
Even Merilyn.
"I apologize for being late." The dining room fell into silence as the king of the wolves entered. Darius what can Sahi with the bright smile on his face ready to greet everyone when his eyes fell on me and we stared at each other before he smiled at me playfully.
"What is the matter, Your majesty? Are you not going to sit?" He glanced at Tristan before looking back at me.
The entire room fell into silence as every eye turned to myself. It made me freeze. I had been the centre of attention many times but everyone was looking at me with so many questions that I did not know what to do.
I gasped loudly at the sudden pull I felt by my hand making me drop onto the lap of Tristan.
I looked at everyone and they stared at us.
"Have a seat my friend," Tristanโs chest vibrated as he spoke, "let the dinner begin."
