Chapter 203: A Letter to Estelle - V

~• somewhere in Astria •~

I heard the footsteps before I saw who was coming in. Not many people came around here but those who did were either the enemies or the last remaining members that were supporting the ideas.

The man stopped and bowed down in front of me. "It’s Ezekiel, your grace."

I smiled. Of course, I remember who he was. Ezekiel was one of my most prized possessions.

"What have you brought for me?" I asked not bothering to stand up.

Raising his hand, he showed me the envelope in it. "The Princess finally sent a letter."

His words made me huff. He was just as impatient as I was regarding the whole matter. But we needed the letter to move forward.

I stood up from where I was sitting and moved to the iron bars. He stuck his hand in between them and passed me the letter that I took.

"Look at that," I commented as I opened it, "only two small pieces of paper?" I mused. This was less but they have to make do.

I read over the contents with great precision, not wanting to miss any hidden word that Genevieve might have written.

She was clever to not acknowledge any of the claims that I had made earlier but she was dumb enough to not give her sister a hint. However, the best part of it all was that Genevieve had sent help.

She had proposed it.

Which meant that my assumption about everything was right. The new king had offered Genevieve his help but why did he do so was the question that remained. It was obvious that he did so to win her heart but what I did not like was whether he wanted to have good relations with the kingdom of Melenmore or was it that he wanted to conquer it for himself. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

I leaned back on the cot and kept my back against the rough wall. What a disgrace.

My eyes were on the papers. It would not make sense if he wanted to conquer Melenmore by offering his help to Genevieve. If he did that he would not be providing Genevieve, he would not be winning her heart so I would have to rule that assumption out.

But it only got confusing because Genevieve wrote it like he had offered it to happen which would only pave the way for my first assumption, he wanted to woo Genevieve.

I stood up with a tired sigh.

"My darling Genevieve," I looked up at the burning torch before placing the letters there, "who would have ever thought about this." A creature of the night fancying our princess Genevieve.

I watched as the paper crumpled up before the fire took it all leaving nothing but ashes behind. Who would have thought it was going to be Genevieve the creatures of the night were after?

But it also works perfectly well because she was the one that was a perfect link in this chain. She was the one that connected to the odd dots without anyone growing suspicious.

I moved back to the iron bars where Ezekiel stood with an inkpot and Quill held out for me to take. I could not afford to have it with me.

Next, he handed me the same papers that Genevieve had written her letter on. They were exactly the same.

The girl was still an amateur.

I joined my thumb and index finger together completely ignoring my middle finger in writing the letter. It had to appear hurried and in broken handwriting.

I started by addressing Estelle just like Genevieve had done but the only thing I wrote differently was that Estelle was not going to receive any threat. It was just the proposal.

All she was receiving was going to be pleasantries and how cruel the creatures of the night could be, not only that but I had added the horrors that Genevieve had seen through my eyes.

But this was not all, because Genevieve was yet to receive a reply.

Now I used another Quill for writing. It would for someone who has access to better sources and would have access to a more luxurious quill.

This time she was going to get a horrifying letter and thus would take a long time. Until then she could establish every relationship she wanted with those creatures of the night because, in the end, they would come crashing down.

As I dipped the Quill in the inkpot continuing to write, I wondered if she knew all of this was going to happen or not. If the creatures of the night had taken a fancy to her then there has to be a reason for them to do so.

Whore. I huffed. I knew it.

I waited for the ink to dry and slightly fanned the papers to hurry it up.

Ezekiel waited patiently. My ever-loyal companion knew that I would not take more time than necessary. I packed both of the letters in different envelopes.

I handed him one. "This one goes to Estelle, Melenmore," he nodded and then I handed him another, "this one shall go after a few days when I tell you to Genevieve."

He nodded again.

"Do you remember a small container that was given to you by," I gulped slightly, "Ambrose?" My name brought chills.

He nodded without any hesitation remembering it very clearly.

I nodded back, "put the letter, " I pointed to one specifically, "put in a wooden scroll. The small container should not break while traveling."

He nodded. "Is that it all?"

I nodded. That was, for now. But then I remembered, "Wait, Ezekiel,"

He stopped and turned around at once. He walked back and stood in the same place where he previously stood that was in front of me. "Yes, your grace?"

"Has Ambrose been made aware of the letters?" If that man knew then he was going to come for the child soon.

"Not yet Your Highness," Ezekiel shook his head, "another man is on his way to inform him about it."

That could not happen. I needed more time for my child to survive. "Kill him," I whispered the command, "make sure to do it in a way that no one would question."

In a way that the creatures of the night would kill them.
