Chapter 202: A letter to estelle- IV

~ Genevieve pov~

I watched as sir Walter picked the book from my side as he picked up the cup of tea that was empty. Marilyn’s cup, on the other hand, was still full.

I had managed to calm myself down. The constant presence of Marilyn was helpful.

My eyes were trained on the cupful of cold tea that belonged to Marylin. "Why are you not drinking it?" I asked her without removing my eyes from the object. She loved tea.

"Oh," she glanced at the teacup, "I need to have blood in it to be able to drink and digest it." She softly informed me knowing that this was still a sensitive topic.

I nodded slightly telling her that I understood whereas in my mind were revolving a thousand questions. So blood was an important factor.

I kept on staring at the teacup without blinking my eyes. Whenever I blinked my eyes I could see the image of Tristan almost changing into something heinous.

The doors to the library were opened with great force and before I could see who had entered I heard, "Where is she?" Chiara walked in but it was the expressions on her face that made me petrified of her. "You!" She yelled and started walking speedily towards me as Marylin stood between us with her hands raised in front of her.

I gulped and stood behind Marilyn not even trying a little to hide my fear.

The older woman had charged towards me and furious expression over her face and with how things at gone down with Tristan I had no desire to stand in front of a furious vampiress.

"Move!" The older woman commanded as she glared at Marilyn for committing such an offense.

"Please, Aunt Chiara." Marilyn pleaded as she continued to stand in between us.

I watched the two of them communicating with their eyes. Chiara’s glare did not abate. Her eyes moved from Marilyn to me standing behind her.

"You," she hissed and I blinked at the voice. I cowered slightly. She narrowed her eyes at me, "I took you for a grateful and good girl but you have been doing nothing but causing problems for this family."

Merilyn glanced at me before turning back and shaking her head to Chiara, "That is not true—"

"That is!" She snapped, making Marylin look away from her. "You have been creating so much trouble and I am tired of it. Get your act straight and together!" She yelled, making me flinch.

"I . ." I tried to find the right words but stepped back slightly. The entire family scared me especially when they were angry. I gulped as I watched her stand behind my shield of Marilyn. "I don’t. .know . . " What have I done?

"Of course, you don’t," She scoffed, "I’ll tell you." She said as she tried stepping closer but Marylin moved to the side blocking her again.

If Chiara felt offended then she did not vocalize it. Instead, she continued to stare at me. "What do you expect when he had told you that he was restraining his beast day and night from taking you forcefully?"

Her glare intensified as I remembered he did, "I expected you should be thankful and give him a chance but on the other hand you went ahead and destroyed it all! How do you take the name of another man in his presence! Is it not enough for you that he found you caught in the act while accepting the proposal of another?"

"I did not accept it." The lie I felt bitter in my mouth to say.

"Oh?" She exclaimed with her eyes growing wide, "look at that she lies now too!" Chiara shook her head with disappointment. "I cannot believe it. If it was not enough for you to accept the proposal of another when Tristan made it clear, time and again, to what you meant to him, first you go ahead and provoke him then you lie to me about it."

I felt shame wash all over me. I barely held my tears in by not blinking. I lowered my eyes to the floor and closed them when I heard her scoff.

"I never understood the need for Tristan to act like that from the very beginning but since he chosen to, I never questioned it. You make me regret my choice of staying quiet. You are an immature girl who never learns."

That hurt.

Yet, I felt defensive of myself. "I do learn. . "

"You don’t," came her sharp voice cutting me off, "if you learned, you won’t have chosen someone else over my child who has been there for you since day one. Had it been anyone else that you would have had imprisoned and beaten to the very end of life, I don’t think you would have got to see that face again, at least not in the best of the ways that Tristan is letting you see."

I blinked my eyes repeatedly to get rid of the tears. Each word of her was a sharp jab to my heart.

"I think it is enough Aunt," Merylin whispered, "I understand that you are angry but Genevieve had her reasons."

That infuriated her even more. "What reasons are these that hurt everyone around her, especially the one that cares the most for her!"

From where I stood I knew that Merilyn was not pleased with her choice of words.

"It is enough," Chiara shook her head with an absolute mind and determination, "I have heard Tristan talk about how much things need to change but he always gives into whatever she wants," her eyes moved to me from Marilyn before going back to her again, "but now it is going to the correct order. The way it should be done. She is no longer going to get any treatment that one of us does not get."

She turned to me with hardened eyes, "I will not let my nephew suffer any longer. From now on, you shall be treated like every other young girl or boy who has a beloved. From now on you will be treated as soon-to-be turned beloved."

I bit my bottom lip that trembled dangerously. I did not argue but simply looked away from her. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Look at me Genevieve," she commanded on my head snapped to her, "I am not joking. Tonight you shall have your rest because from tomorrow onwards you will resume every Ritual and responsibility that is to be done with tradition." She declared with finally in her voice and I felt it in my bones.
