Chapter 186: The letter - III

•~ somewhere in Astria •~

"She hasn’t replied yet." I told the man who titled his head at that information.

"What do you mean?" He asked in a calm and collected voice but I knew he was far from that. "Has she not received the letter I gave you?"

I shook my head. "It has been delivered by someone close to her but she has not written the letter yet."

"And why not?"

"I do not know!" I yelled in frustration, tired of the constant questioning. "I do not know why she has not—" I gasped and choked on my next words when I felt his hold tighten on my neck.

"Do not forget the place with me woman," the man warned as he squeezed my throat slightly to assert his point, "you need my help not I. Next time make sure it is done. I am not going to have you here for much longer." He said and left my throat, having me gasp for Air.

"Ye. . " I heaved, "but you need me for your son."

"Our son, woman," He corrected with a smirk, "you need me for son to sit on the throne." He corrected.

I wanted to yell at him. It was a mistake but it was the only option I had left.

"Make sure she writes the letter. The sooner it is done the better it would be." He said before he turned around and left from the only secret way that was known to the loyalty.

I looked at the lock on my prison bars. I won’t be alive for long and certainly not for this girl to write the letter which is why I have to hurry.

I was playing with the food on my plate. It was something I never did but I was considering if I was to talk to Tristian about the guards or not.

I also could not stop glancing at him eating. I knew he was not eating so why was he pretending?

Should I even save that man? What relationship did I even have with that man to go to such lengths for him?

But then I felt guilty because I had told him and I had also accepted his offer. I could have denied the offer but I had to get him out because I had promised to do that.

I had given him my word after all.

"Tristan, why do I have guards?" I asked and glanced at him to see his reaction. It seemed like he was almost expecting it.

"Because you are important to me."

As if. "Or is it because you want to know where I am and who I am with all the time?" I presented and he sighed.

He placed his fork and knife down as he gave me his full attention. "What made you think about this?"

"Because even Marilyn does not have gaurds and I know that Allan is placed at a high position in the court. So why is it that I have guards? Is it because you do not trust me?"

"Yes," he answered, tearing right into my eyes, "it is because I do not trust you."

"But why?" I shrieked incredulously. "Am I to be the one to trust you then? You hid your entire existence from me!"

"So did you because you never mentioned belonging to avoid family much less being a princess." He pointed out, "second of all, you have tried to run away and you know what that cost you."

Shame washed over me. "Tristan." I said and stared at him in disbelief at what he had said and implied. "Some events should not be mentioned."

He shook his head and his stare hardened as his jaw clenched. He was angry. "Some events should be thought through as well Genevieve. You should have considered that you were in a completely different Kingdom and the one that you have never exploded. You never saw inhabitants around the capital to travel safely at night." He leaned in and folded his arms above the table, "because of that decision of yours and lack of thinking I have decided that the Guards will be with you all times."

That was too much.

I gulped the tears and lowered my eyes to the plate as I blinked them continuously to not let him see my tears.

I heard him sigh and I could not control it anymore. I held my face and cried.

"Genevieve," his fingers held my wrist as he tried to pull away my hand from my face but I resisted.

"No," I pushed his touch away, offended by what he just said. "Leave it be." I stood and started walking out of the door.

"I did not mean it—’

"No!" Turning around I yelled at his face, " don’t you dare ever say that again. What happened happened to me and I have made my peace with it but I do not want it thrown over my face every time." I glared at him, "and remember, it is not just you who doesn’t trust me, I do not have much trust in you either."

I stormed out of the room and ran into mine. " Send me Diwal." I snapped at Solomon before closing the door to my room.

I stopped in front of the writing table. I was going to walk away and not only that, I would help the prince in escaping because at least and unlike Tristan he trusted me. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

That Vampire could wait and watch.

I heard a knock on my door and Diwal’s head peeped me. "You called?"

I nodded and he entered. "Wipe, your face Diwal. I can see gravy on the corner of your lips."

" Oh!" He turned his head to the side before licking his entire lips. "Now?" I nodded. "Alright, what do you need me for?"

Now, I smiled. "You are going to find the exact time that Solomon and bert go for feeding."

His face paled. "What?"

I nodded. "Tonight you will come to my room and help me go back to the dungeons."

"Why there?" He whispered in shock. "Those can be very dangerous at night."

"I know." I waved it off. "But this is necessary." I was going to get the prince out and I was going to leave after that.
