The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 187: The demon - I
I almost fell asleep by the time Diwal came. It did not help that the wound on the right side of my neck had me take medicines that made me sleepy. But I still have something important to do.
"Must we do this?" He spoke cautiously and did not raise his voice as we stepped down the staircase, "what if someone catches us?"
I stopped for a moment in shock, "Would someone catch us? Did you not make sure?"
He looked at me, startled. "No, I did. It is very late into the night and humans usually are in very deep sleep which is why they take a quick feeding."
"And the guards in the dungeons?"
He gulped. " . . . Not sure about them." He admitted and I gaped at him in shock.
"What!" I spat. "Do you not remember what happened when we visited Marilyn?"
He opened his mouth but then closed it. His eyes darted around the room as he tried to find an excuse. "Maybe . . I could send a maid to them? Like someone is called them?"
I stared at him in disbelief. "What in the world makes you think that they would believe that?"
He shrugged, "Why won’t they? It is obvious that the king would not go down there to call them upstairs himself. Someone will have to be sent for that."
It must be the sleep getting to me that I was actually thinking his plan was practical. I nodded because I had to hurry.
Lysar needed to be ready for the window and this was going to be the last time that I was going to meet him before finally giving him the chance to escape.
I remained on the stairs as Diwal went downstairs and informed a maid that he had been sent by the minister to call the guards upstairs immediately.
My eyes widened slightly when I actually saw the girl moving away to the dungeons. She must be new otherwise she would have boarded to ask which minister it was.
I squinted my eyes at the staircase that went to the dungeons. I was sure that the godswood would hurry up to go to the ministers because usually they did not get to interact with anyone, especially from one of the higher authorities in the king’s court.
They ran up and disappeared towards the courtrooms.
I picked up my skirts in my hand and hardly moved down into the dungeons. It was only a matter of time before they figured out that at this time no courtroom would be holding a meeting.
"Should i—"
"Wait here," I stop and tell Diwal, "if the Guards come around you hold them until I can leave, Alright?"
He wasn’t exactly confident with the task that was given to him but he nodded nonetheless and remained on the start of the stairs as I moved down and took the torch from the room where the Guards stayed.
I really hope that they have not changed the prison of the prince. I suddenly stopped in front of the one that I had previously seen him in. Raising the torch I could see a figure lying on the small cot barely fitting on it.
"Lysar?" I whispered out but the man didn’t move.
Did I say it that quietly or was the man inside dead?
"Lysar?" I raised my voice slightly.
The man barely moved. Oh my god, he was dead!
I bit my lip as I looked around for something to throw at him. There was Nothing here.
I looked at the man again. Now what?
". . .food?"
The man sprang up from the bed and looked at me. "Genevieve?"
"The word food awakened you instead of your name?" I scoffed in disbelief.
"If you felt only once a day, I believe the word could do wonders." He snapped and then blinked his eyes repeatedly as he stood up. "What are you doing here? Did I not tell you to be careful?"
I shook my head and disregarded everything he said. "Listen to me," I whisper in a hurry realising that the Guards could come in anytime now, "I want you to be ready because the next time that I would be coming here, I would come with the escape plan and we would move out of the palace."
He let out a breath and chuckled. "I have been waiting for that day. How soon can I be?"
I smiled slightly, "It goin—"
"Never."
My smile faltered and I could feel my blood growing cold. That voice was very familiar.
"My dearest prince of Lethoris," footsteps could be heard closing in on us and I was not there to turn around, "you are not getting out of here until your father comes for you."
I gulped as my arms and legs shook. I had my hands together to refrain them from shaking wildly. Tristan was standing right behind me.
"Don’t," Lysar warned, "do not stand close to her creature!"
"Why?" Tristan asked and I could hear the mocking in his tone. I prayed to God that Lysar would understand what Tristen was doing.
"Because that girl is going to be the future princess of —"
"Your country? Your wife?" Tristan completed. "No, she is not."
I wanted to cry now.
"Why not?" Lysar narrowed his eyes. "You are aware that one day you will have to address my father on my way about and I am taking Genevieve with me."
He chuckled. I felt the breath on the skin making me flinch. "I am tired of this nonsense. I am tired of everyone thinking that they can take you away from me."
That was addressed to me.
I tucked my lips in.
I felt his hand on my waist and before I knew it I was turned around to face a furious looking Tristan.
"I will no longer play the games and wait." He said and I felt the rise up. "This time I will make sure that everyone knows who you are to me."
"Tri-Tristan. . " I am going to cry now. He looked so angry! I saw his face change into the same that once Marilyn had done before I felt blinding pain on my neck.
