The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 177: The Secretary - I
The next time my eyes opened it was bright outside. I must have woken up around noon with how bright the sun shone. I blinked and got up. I felt much better than yesterday.
I moved out of the room because there was no one here and I did not find a bell to ring up.
I stood in the hallway slightly surprised at the fact that there was no one in the hallway.
Where was Solomon and bert?
Tristan had said that they would stay here with me almost all the time and I found it very peculiar to how they were not here.
I sighed and moved out. Where were all of them?
I found this whole way to be utterly confusing. I had never been to the healers hallway and thus palace and finding my way back was extremely difficult.
I stumbled upon to use doors. Looking around the hallway I found no one. I had never explored this area of the palace which is y without thinking twice I opened the doors only to frown.
Rows and rows and aisles of books in front of me. I had opened the door to the library.
What faith did I have. Why can’t I come across something more interesting?
I turned around and was going to walk away when I heard, "can I help you with something my lady?"
The voice was awfully familiar. I could not believe it. I turned around and look at the age man. His beard had turned white instead of the black and white colour that he previously had. His facial expressions was still same, Gentle yet stern.
"Sir Walter," I was surprised to see him here.
His face twisted as he was about to ask me before the realisation dawned on him. " You are Queen cynthia’s daughter!" He gasped. " You must be Genevieve!"
I nodded and my head and he near me. He held his hands out and I placed mine his. "my, my, child. The last time I saw you were about to reach my thighs!"
I giggled.
My eyes went over to the room that I’ve just found him in. "Sir Walter, what are you doing in the library of astria?"
"Ah . ." He nodded and I see how his face lost the smile. " Must we concern ourselves with the past genevieve? It’s been a long time since I met you and given the circumstances. . ." He trailed off and look at me expectantly.
"What circumstances?" I asked him. " I do not know what you’re talking about. And why cannot we talked about the past?"
Sir Walter did not answer me. He looked behind me and I turned around to see no one standing there. I turned back to look at him but he moved past me and close to the doors.
"Come along princess, would you like some tea?" He asked me as he stood beside me before pointing his hand forward.
I nodded, slightly catching the drift that he wanted to get away from the door. We walked In The huge library and in the middle came the seating area where he started the tea.
"The world might be different but everything is similar to a few things. There are things that are done in order as always and one of them is removing the loyal ministers after the ruling queen or king dies."
I listened to him talking attentively as he started brewing the tea.
"After your mother died, under mysterious circumstances as they all told us, it was only e obvious that your father would remove your mother’s loyal supporters first that included me."
Of course it did. Sir Walter was the royal secretary of my mother and was involved in every activity that my mother took part in politically and at times even in family functions.
"So then, how did you end up in Astria?" It still did not make sense because usually people were killed off.
He nodded and poured the tea. "He was going to kill us. I do not know this but now I assume that your mother knew what was coming which is why she made sure that me and my wife had a way out of the country."
That did not sit well with me. "Why just you and your family? Why did she not choose any other minister?"
He smiled. "Because not many can be saved. Queen Cynthia expected one of her daughters to be Queen which is why she get me a life. I was to guide the daughter in her Queenship."
He gave me the tea and I appreciated the warmth.
"The previous queen of astria, anastasia was aware of my presence in her Kingdom before I was to move to another. She took advantage of that and provided me a job here."
I frowned slightly. "Why would she do that are not ask you for every information of the kingdom? You were the closest minister to my mother and it was obvious that you knew a lot of things that no one had access to."
"But she knew I won’t talk." He raised his hand and showed me pointing to a huge blue ring. "This is a poison ring and if I wear one than I am courageous enough to suck on it and die but not reveal any information that could help in destroying us."
My respect increased for the man. I understood that he was loyal to my mother during her reign but we had also been loyal to us after she had died and he had been casted aside.
I smiled at him before sipping my tea. "How long have you been here?"
"In this castle?" He asked and I nodded. "Ever since your mother passed away, dear child."
I nodded to myself now. That meant that he had been here enough for me to know what happened with Tristan becoming the king.
"Sir Walter," I placed my tea on the table beside me and gave him my full attention, "can you tell me about the recent turn of events regarding the throne? And the man that sits on it?"
