The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 174: The king’s wish - I
The sound of multiple footsteps stopped and the door opened to the prison cell emitting a huge creaking noise.
"Marilyn," that was Tristan and the sound of his voice made her get out of my lap and stand up, "are you aware of what you are doing right now?"
She nodded and her eyes remained lowered.
"Were you not asked to stay away from Genevieve?" Tristan said and I frowned. He ignored me.
"I was, you highness—"
"I came down here Tristan. Marilyn did not do anything." I told while sitting on the ground and finally his eyes snapped to mine.
He looked to where I was sitting and I could see visible distaste on his face. He bent down in front of me and held his hand out, "get up genevieve. Do not sit on the floor."
I glanced at his hand and then at his face before turning mine away. "No."
"No?" He repeated, surprised. "why ever not?"
I looked at him as I pointed towards Merilyn, "I will get up once you promise that she is not getting punished."
His eyes narrowed. It seemed like it did not sit well with him. "How about we talk about this when we’re not sitting in a prison cell?" He once again extended his hand to me, "come on."
Instead of looking at Tristan’s face I turned to Marylin. I knew the girl enough to understand that a look of year had raised her face and she was trying her best to hide it.
"No," I said and turned to him, "either you promise me right now that you will not punish Marilyn or I stayed here all day and night."
He raised one eyebrow up before his hands most and I felt them over my shoulders and below my knees before I was raised up into the air.
"Tristan!" I gasped.
Before I knew with everything went past me in a hurry and I was back in the healing room.
" Wah. . ." I looked closely and carefully everywhere. This was the healing room but how. . In a moment . .
I looked at the man whose chest I was leaning against. Tristan looked down at me with an impressive face as I looked at him in wonderful. How did we reach here so quickly? I don’t remember seeing any staircase or even the kitchens. . .
"How?" I whispered out in amazement as he shrugged and walked forward to the bed placing me down on it.
"One of the many wonders of the world that you’re not aware of." He said. "Perhaps, one day, you will know about it all." There was a meaningful look in eyes. He hoped touch one day I would accept all of this.
I looked towards the door.
"You accepted Marilyn." I heard him but did not turn around. "We could hear your conversations. You forgave someone who attacked you."
I closed my eyes. "Marilyn is the only one I have as a family member in this Kingdom. None of my sister’s oh my father has ever asked about me. Do you expect me to let the last link go?"
He stared into my eyes and tilted his head slightly, "I know when you’re lying, Genevieve. Be honest with me."
I kept the stare. Somehow I found the support in his eyes just as much as the intimidated. "I could not stand her being punished. When I saw her hanging from a pole with the rope around her neck, I lost it Tristan. I cannot let it happen again." I shook my head as I spoke my words firmly. I was never going to let Merilyn get hurt again especially when I could do something about it.
His lips turned into a thin line. His hand reached up to my chin and his thumb lightly caressed my skin. "She hurt you," he grated out, "she hurt you and I was not there to protect you from it, which is why punishment is important. Every Vampire needs to learn what will happen when an an innocent and an unwilling person is harmful."
"But not Merilyn," I said quickly.
"But Merylin, yes, she would be punished here." He nodded his head slightly disagreeing with my words. "Marilyn is the one that attacked you, she is in the wrong and she has to be punished, Genevieve." He told me softly.
Why was this so difficult? I could feel like crying at the moment. I did not want her to be punished. I understand why she did so. There was a reason and she had not done this solely to hurt me. It was the darkness inside her that did it.
I licked my lips. "Why can’t you be excused once?"
He shrugged slightly.
I was ready to retort to something sarcastic and defensive when I remembered something.
"Tristan," I said his name as a small smile came to my face, "you must be aware that kings grant special favours to people they love. Am I not your beloved? The only one you can love?"
His eyebrows slowly raised and a smile stretched over his face before he lowered his head and chuckled. "Clever Genevieve." He praised me and I giggled.
I giggled?!
"I was waiting for you to take advantage of that fact." He leaned over and tapped his finger over my temple. "You are very slow."
I frowned immediately, "what is that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing," he replied innocently with a smile, " now if we come back to your special favour, you must know that the king receives something in return."
When he had started to talk about the favour a smile graced my face but as he went on it disappeared slowly.
He stood up from the chair and took a seat on the bed beside me. "Now what is it that you can give me?" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
What could I give him? Giving him something meant giving into my feelings that I had buried deep inside my heart.
But Merylin had been selfish so why couldn’t I be?
With all the strength I could master from my bruised and battered body I raised myself and kissed Tristan.
