Chapter 158: A beloved ? - IV

They were cheering with happiness and content. If Tristan announced anything more, I was sure that they would start dancing too.

It made me furious. How can I dance in my misery? Who gave them the right to dance!

"Stop it!" I screamed! "Stop it! Stop dancing!" I yelled as tears gathered into my eyes and my vision blurry. How could they dance when I was miserable!

A sob broke out and my chest jerked but I sniffed and fisted my skirts in my hands, lifting it up. I ran out of the room and the men parted to let me out. They even opened the door.

I sniffed and ran up the stairs where Tristan had once dragged down from.

I opened the door to a room, which one I did not know, but threw myself onto the bed face down and cried my heart out.

What had happened? I wailed as I thought about it.

Why was everyone happy but me?

********

I had fallen asleep while crying. I felt the dried tears on my cheeks and my nose was still runny.

I sniffed before getting off the bed and walked to the door when I closed my eyes and cringed. How was I going to go out and face those people after yelling at them? I didn’t even know who was who.

"God," I whispered. But then my eyes narrowed, a lot has happened in Austria and the most important thing was I could find Diwal here and you must know another secret passage or two.

That might work but for that I would have to go out in front of other people. Those people that I had very conveniently held at.

I stepped away from the door and soothed my hair and clothes. They were all wrinkled from the nap. It was well needed though. At least now I could think straight.

I look back to the door. I would have to step out some day and face the mall. Why not that baby today itself. How long can I hide for?

I took a sharp breath in and pushed it out before walking to the door and opening it.

I was immediately made with two pairs of eyes who seemed like they had been waiting for me.

"I have met you two before," I commented on seeing their vaguely familiar faces. I had seen them in Lethoris.

They nodded. "Yes, your highness, I am Solomon and this is Bert." He introduced himself and then pointed out the man who was standing next to him. Both of them give me a bow of acknowledgement.

A bow that was only given to royalty.

I squinted my eyes as I realised that they were only giving me this respect because I had been introduced to them as their future queen.

"Call me Genevieve," I told them, "I no longer have a royal title and my family does not support me anymore. You can call me by my name."

Solomon shook his head. "I am afraid I can not do so, your grace. Shall we escort you to your chambers? The Prince has special guests for you."

"What guests?" I spat, "are they going to drink my blood?"

"On the contrary, they are going to make sure that you stay safe and feel comfortable." A new voice added and I turned around and saw that it was Allan and my anger disappeared.

Merilyn.

My eyes lower to the ground for a small moment before I turn to the two in front of me, "take me back to my cham—rooms." I was spared quietly and then ordered. One walked in front of me while the other walked behind me.

I won’t be getting chambers this time, I was sure of that. Only Royalty got those and I had my title taken off a long time ago.

Soloman who was walking in front of me opened the door after we climbed a staircase and crossed two corridors.

I walked in and as soon as they closed the door, I fell onto the floor and placed my head on my knees and pulled them to my chest.

Merilyn had married Alan and I was the witness. How could I forget that? Did Allen know? Of course he did what was I even thinking about.

Marylyn has been hanged in the middle of the capital; it was obvious that everyone has seen.

Even her husband for a day.

I looked at the door when I heard a knock. Who was it now?

"Who is it?"

"Your gift." I heard his voice and sighed. Why was he here?

I got up and opened the door, he walked in without and stood in the middle of the sitting area.

"Soloman told me that I have a gift for me." I narrated what I had been told earlier, "go ahead."

He raised an eyebrow mockingly in my way, "In a quiet hurry, are you now Genevieve? Where is it that you want to go?"

I did Not give him the satisfaction of seeing a change in my expressions. "Tristen where is it that I can go?"

"Anywhere you want," he said and stepped closer, staring into my eyes, "you are not my prisoner."

The red in his eyes made me look away. "Why are Solomon and Bert standing outside my room?"

I heard him sigh, "they are for your security. They are my friends and will guard you."

Now I turned to look at him. "Guard me from what? I thought you had taken over the kingdom."

He smiled slightly, barely trying to conceal it and nodded his hair. "We are now going through the process of who will pledge their loyalty to us and who would not. For now you will only see my man around the palace."

His men. "You mean—"

"Yes," he muttered, catching my drift, "I’m talking about the creatures of the night or blood suckers, anything you want to say now."

I looked away, nodding slightly.

"Now for your Surprise," he said taking my attention back on him, "kindly step away from the door."
