The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 148: A new pawn - II
The night had fallen and once again I was back in my bed. I had been informed by Anna that Tristan and Darius were not having their dinner together today as they were out of the palace for some kind of work which is why I took the opportunity to dine in my room by myself. I need it to get my thoughts together.
I wondered how the girl Naya was.
The queen was not afraid of showing her dislike for the girl who was pregnant with her son’s child. Even though the child was a bastard he was still her grandson or daughter but the queen had immediately broken off any kind of relationship that could be established between them.
I still could not wrap my head around having the girl killed. For whatever happened she might not even have a hand in it. For all we know, the prince could have forced the young girl.
After all, everyone knew the handsome man could make a girl’s heart flutter. Naya looked to be too young to even reach 20 years of age.
I couldn’t kill her. Even though now I had had a taste of violence and what kind of thrill it gave I was still not very willing to kill the child and the woman who had no hand in trying to destroy me. They could have been sent away.
I closed my eyes, the rest was well needed.
*****
A hand startled me awake. I opened my eyes as wide as I could and in the dim light of the remaining candles that wood burning at right to make out who it was. The hand on my mouth felt heavy, it was obviously a man!
"Quiet," I heard a harsh whisper.
I moved slightly and my hand reached under the pillow to grab the hilt.
I breathed heavily at this point. The man moved but did not take his hand off my mouth.
"Do not move," he said in a whisper, "I am taking off the hand. Do not make the mistake of yelling."
He called the yelling mistake? I called yelling necessary.
He slowly moved his hand away and I sighed in relief before grabbing his hand and biting down hard on it.
"Ah! Fuck!" He yelled and stumbled away immediately as he pulled his hand away from my teeth.
I threw the covers off of me and stood on the other side of the bed. I took the candle in my hands and raised it to my sight to see who it was.
"Wha—You!" I hissed at him. "What in the world are you doing here?!"
His face consorted into an ugly and paint expression as he turned to me. "I came here for you. Looks like you do not need any kind of help!"
I scoffed, "did you not see me sleeping peacefully? Why would I need help?"
He glared at me. "perhaps because anastasia has issued a warrant. She wants you in her Kingdom in front of her, dead or alive, she does not care."
The words should have brought me a turn off shock but did not. I was not sure that all. After all I was expecting the queen to behave like that.
"Oh, the queen was successful in killing me." I told him honestly as a small smile to my face. "I think I must thank her for it."
He eyebrows shot up for a brief moment before he looked away. He turned to me opened his mouth but then closed it shut. "What did you just say to me?" He whispered in a hurry and pointed to his ear, "I think I heard it wrong."
"You did not." I shake my head, "I am thanking her for trying to kill me. She did kill me and it only made me stronger."
"It is the opposite of that Genevieve. if it does not kill you it makes you stronger." He corrected and his eyes narrowed at me, " What is that you are not telling me?"
I wonder something else. "Prince Lysar what are you doing here?"
At that question he rounded the bed and changed to stand in front of me. I raised the lantern in between us so that he could not cover that distance and I could also see him clearly.
"Genevieve," he took my hand in his and before I knew it he had both of his hands holding mine, "I know what the queen has done to you. I do not know why but I also know that your kingdom is not responding to any of those allegations in the sense for you. I could not reach out to your sisters which has let me to be conclusion that they have abandoned you."
Every word that he said was like a needle through my heart. I knew that my sisters were unable to reach me but they had abandoned me was something I was not ready to believe.
"I had asked you before to let me protect you but you had refused. Right now you are in a situation where you need someone to help you through it all. I am ready to support you. I shall fight for you. Come with me."
I scoffed.
Perhaps this was the difference that had made me fall for Tristan out of all the men that I had never known. He wanted to fight my was with me while I was sitting behind him ready for him to defend me where as Tristan had handed me the knife in my hand.
What an irony it was.
Two men, completely different in in what they were offering me. One was ready to defend me no matter what and The other was ready to make me defend myself.
Lysar was giving me a life that was going to be filled with considered as he would provide for me where as Tristan was going to give me a life where I was responsible for myself.
"Perhaps not," I took my hand from his, "I shall not go with yoy Prince Lysar."
