The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 129: A change in behaviour - I
I could feel his warm breath on my shoulder as he took them. The proximity in between us was too much for me to bear which is why when I try to take a step to decide his hand came forward and caged me.
Without thinking much of it and moving towards the other side the same happened. Now he had kept me from both sides as his hands were on the table and he was right behind me.
Now I just wanted to stay the same forever and not turn around and face him. That was the worst of what had happened which is why I wanted to avoid it.
"Turn around." He whispered into my ear and I closed my eyes forcefully.
No thank you, I shall have to respectfully decline.
"Come on," I heard him say as I felt his hands on my shoulder and slowly turned around to face him before returning back to the table.
I stare at the pattern of his dress shirt in or into his eyes which I could feel staring at my face. Why was looking at me? I could feel the heat crawl up my cheeks as I must be looking like a clown with how red they must be appearing.
I felt his fingers approach might change and I shuddered at the touch. They slowly raised my chin and leveled my eyes to his.
"Why are you not looking at me? I do not think I turned so hideous in one day." He smiled at his own words because I was too embarrassed to do so. "Did I?"
"No!" The word left my mouth before I could realise and without my permission made me look at him with wide eyes and clear embarrassment. "I. . Uh . ."
"I believe you, if a pretty woman says that I am not hideous I believe her words."
My cheeks are burning!
" I. .I should go." I told him instead and stared at him expectantly.
" Go on then." He answered me and still managed to look serious while teasing me.
I suddenly have the urge to slap him upside down on the head. "You need to move."
"I don’t think so," he murmured slowly and neared me, making me press myself more into the table as I tried to create distance between us which only vanished. "I think I like you near me in my arms where I can protect you."
My eyes snapped upto his and a select for immediate lies or any hint of maliciousness in between them as I had seen enough people to realise what these two looked like. But the only two emotions; truth and sincerity. He was not lying and none of these expressions betrayed that.
His words had me accept the aura of protection he was offering me. I had never felt cell secure
"The man was drinking blood." I told him the truth without thinking about it twice. If he was offering his protection then I was not denying it, because it was protection that I craved the most. It was his protection that made me feel more secure than my own father ever did.
"I know what I saw Tristan do not put it like Anna did. I heard them. I saw how he was drinking blood from her neck, how-w the blood was dripping down his mouth and into his clothes I saw it all!"
As I was telling him everything that I saw his eyes did not viable and he listened to me with the utmost attention making it think that he was going to believe what I was going to say. As I was done I waited for his verdict on what I had told him.
My trust depended on what he would say.
"I think so too."
His words immediately took me by surprise and I almost screamed in pleasure. He believed me and he knew what I was saying!
"Have you ever heard of cannibalism Genevieve?" He asked me and I frowned.
" What?" Cannibalism? I had read about it here and there but I was not remembering where. And must have brushed the topic over once.
"Yes, it is humans eating humans." He answered for me and I stared at him in surprise.
I now remembered it. I had read in a lot of places and now I did not want to think about it because it was something horrid. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"Why are you talking about such a horrid thing tristan?" I asked him with goosebumps on my skin.
"Why must we talk about such a devil’s work?" I whispered.
He smiled softly as if expecting it but I did not know if that’s true or not. "I do not know if it is devil’s work or not but it happens in real life. I think that men must be cannibalistic people. What you’re saying is the horror of life. I agree with that." He nodded to himself and then stepped away as he watched him. I immediately missed his warmth.
"What?" I spat.
What more can I expect from this? This conversation and already here for me but that was not a topic anymore because I have received an answer for it and I did not want to discuss it any more. Why had Triston moved away after answering that?
"Does this topic upset you Tristan? I understand that could happen to anyone." I said to him sympathetically clearly understood the fact that he did not want to talk about it.
"Oh yes," he laughed but somehow it did not seem like a natural one. It seemed as if he was forcing it out. "Yes, I am not comfortable talking about people who eat each other for a living. I understand that no one is. I understand that you are not."
I narrowed my eyes slightly at his back which was facing me. Why was he so passive aggressive suddenly?
I stopped closer to him, " Is everything alright?"
I watched him as a was approaching him slowly but it turned around and walked to the door before I could even reach him leaving me to stand there in the middle of the room while watching the door from which he had left.
