The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 120: A new him - III
"It’s all so. . ." I whispered as I stared in astonishment, "white."
"It’s cold snow my dear," I jumped in fright and stepped back when I heard him right beside my dear. When he reached here, I had no idea, "snow that only was seen in one region and kingdom which is the North."
As a princess who was supposed to be a Queen I was taught more things that ever was to begin with and one of those who was everything about the kingdoms that Estelle ever got. North, east, west and South I had knowledge about the mole and there was only. .
". . Only the north is in everlasting snow." My eyes turned to look outside the window where uh uh trees on trees and grass was no longer to be seen and were deeply covered in snow. There was no bird around like it did in the spring, summers or even in winters in my kingdom but just snow and an occasional crow.
" How?" I whispered in fascination of the deeply covered land. "No one ever survives a journey to the north. No one has ever returned. Countless messengers and . . . and soldiers have been sent to no one ever returns!
I turned to look at him and he was staring out of the window but not with the fascination that I had been staring at it with. If he felt my eyes on him he certainly knew how to ignore it.
"The northern King likes to have his protection. If you remember then the first ever messenger sent up here had survived and brought back a letter which clearly stated the wants of the King to be left alone. He did not want any trade or anything that could possibly have the people coming into his country but when his warnings were not taken seriously the king acted on what he said he would do."
If his voice was likely true even ever so slightly then I had no idea which Kingdom had sent the first messenger to the north and had actually survived to come back. If the northern King had made his demands clear then why had our kingdoms been foolish enough to send messengers and soldiers countless times there?
" Who is the northern king?" I couldn’t help but ask the question about the slight change of anger and my voice. I felt bad for what he had done to the soldiers and the other people who were sent here just to relay a message. "And why is it that his soldiers could not send back those people home instead of. . . Well whatever he did to them instead."
I changed my worth because I did not want to think of the possibility that they were daddy. I’d rather have them be chained up and working in a farm all their life than spend their days rotting away in prison where no one would bother them with food.
Tristan scoffed. "My darling, when nothing makes clear what his intentions are, the kingdoms should not be foolish to challenge the seasons time and again. It is a matter of time until the king is finally snapped and carries on with his threats without mercy."
He finally looked at me and I immediately averted my eyes. By the sounds of it Tristian seems to know a lot more about the northern king and where his intentions stood.
If I come to think about it Tristan was a rather rich merchant, did it mean that he actually had an understanding with another king and was profiting off from trade when No country could get in?
"No."
Surprised, I looked at him and he seemed to be watching me with keen eyes as if I was entertaining him while keeping my thoughts to myself and continuing in my thinking.
"What no?" I frowned, "I did not say anything."
He smiled, "You don’t have to say anything Genevieve. Your actions and expressions are quite predictable."
When I was not aware of that otherwise I would have kept them to myself as well.
"Why am I in the north?" I stuck to what I knew. " How did you manage to bring me here when no one has ever survived to come back in such. . . A. "
" Palace?" He threw the word my way with an amusing smile on his face.
Ab palace? It brought me to a palace? How in the world was a merchant able to bring me to a King’s castle or even buy one to begin with?
"How?"
He raised his hand and I flinched. A quick emotion passed through his eyes but he hid it well after that. "You won’t know a lot of things. Let’s leave it at that. All that should be in your knowledge is that you are to rest and gain back energy and that you are currently in the palace of the northland kingdom. You will meet him soon when you are well enough to do so." He nodded at me respectfully in farewell and started to work out of the room as I followed him behind.
"Must I point out, I can stand properly without any support right now," I called after him, "and I also very well remember what to do when I meet a king of another country. You do not need to worry about that. I can meet him just fine."
He turned to stop and looked at me before moving out of the door completely. "How good you are will be my decision. There will be a healer to check on you and mind you Genevieve, I mean it that you ought to have rest and replenish your energy."
I stare at him in shock at the words said to me. The man had just threatened me.
He closed the door loudly and I jumped at the sound of it.
I stayed at the door thinking that somehow it was compensating for his presence. And like on repeat I was again thought of how I was changing my opinion again about someone.
