Chapter 110: A princess on the run - I

Taking care? I scoffed loudly but they didn’t pay any attention to me.

"We have to keep the treaty." My father said in a grave voice as if it was final. "It cannot be undone if that boy is to marry again."

My eyes moved to the prince in hopes of the fact that he would at least be at my side. I had avoided every opportunity when it came to killing his lover. I had always avoided every possibility to do so not matter what. He was not even aware of the fact that how many times in these two weeks the queen had asked me to get rid of her!

But he was silent and shrugged to his mother as if it was her decision to make.

What a man!

At his response Queen anastacia sighed tiredly and turned to my father again. "Well, I suppose it will have to be done to save both of our faces and the shame that would be brought upon our families."

" What are you talking about?!" I yelled at them. "I am standing right here and I am not lying. No one has ever bedded me. How do you try to lie to them!"

Whoever said that life was easy even as a royal completely light and did not have any knowledge about it.

He had no idea that it could go from having a crown to your head to having your fate discussed right in front of you. They were planning on discarding me.

"Father!" I admonished, wiping off my tears, "you cannot do this to me. You have to believe what I say. This man is lying!" I pointed to him and yelled out, " he, he is lying!" I felt like a child, a young brat, who was yelling in front of him blaming The other sibling for something that I had done. I felt completely irrelevant because it was his opinion that mattered the most and not mine.

"Then explain this to me. How did you come in possession of your anklet? That was a gift given to you on your Baptism. I have never seen you take it off. How did he acquire your anklet?" He stressed on the last words. Even though he was asking me the biggest question of all, I knew that he did not believe me and he was just doing it is a formality to make me see how long I was and that I was the lair here.

For the first time I did not even want to address him as my father in respect. I never had any love for him and it was just a respect I was giving him calling him father out of it but now he had robbed himself of that as well.

A trembling sigh left my mouth. "You," I couldn’t believe it, "are believing a man that has come out of nowhere over Me?"

His lips thinned into a line.

My father; King Henry of Melenmore, stepped closer to me. "Lift your skirts to your ankles." He commanded. "I want to see whether you are wearing the anklet and he has a fake one or not."

"You want to test me?" Tears and humiliation burned through my entire being as I realised that he was putting me to the test. This was worse than what I had previously told them to do. He did not trust me enough to vouch for me without any test.

My father did not trust me nor did he stand up for me even once.

Also, I was not wearing any jewelry on my ankles, especially the one that he had in his hands and I knew that I had to change the conversation before it could lead me to have my head beheaded.

He shrugged carelessly, " that man is a noble man in Lethoris and he would never claim to do such a thing knowing that this could cause him his seat in the court along with his entire family and wealth. So there must be some evidence that he has come here with."

"Lift up your skirts. We just want to see your ankle." Queen Anastasia commanded. "Hurry,"

I gulped. "I did not wear it for the wedding. It did not go well with jewellery."

She raised an eyebrow at that, " then I presume you know where it is."

I nodded. "In my bedroom. The one you alloted to me and there I got ready."

"Get it then." She muttered and turned away from me as if looking at me was such a heavy task to do. She said before I found myself turning around and running outside. I didn’t need to be told twice.

I stopped running and started working quite quickly. If I had and then everyone would assume that something had happened and within moments Marilyn caught up with me.

"I heard." I heard her breathless whisper.

I did not say anything as I had no idea who was following us and watching us. On reaching the apartments allotted to us, we opened the door and Marilyn closed the door behind her after entering.

" I’ll find it immediately." She took to the box of jewelry taking it upon herself to bring the anklet and then hurried back to the courtroom as a dutiful friend.

I had to tell the truth to her.

"No need," I shook my head. My hands visited with each other as a captain holding one onto the other. My palms had grown sweary.

"What? Why?" She harshly whispered. "Do you know where it is?"I knew what she was doing. She was hoping for the worst.

"No," I shook my head, on the verge of breaking down, "of course I know where it is Marilyn! The men had the anklet. I don’t have one anymore!" I whimpered out, bawling my eyes out. I was done for!

Shop turned to her face and eye pathetically started crying. My hands covered my entire face as I swatted down and sobbed in my dress. I had no idea what to do anymore.

"Oh my. . ." I heard her whisper and I cried more. She must have been as shocked and hopeless as I was in the situation because she knew very well what was going to happen to me. If there was no one who was going to take my side that it was only a matter of time before they were all going to cast me aside or kill me.

" I have no idea what to do." I sniffed and looked out, not even bothering to wipe my tears away. "They are going to kill me Marilyn. They were talking about it and I know they are going to do it. My father would rather sa-save the treaty that br-bring a spoilt daughter ho-home." I hiccupped, unable to control myself anymore.

"Don’t, don’t cry," she came and sat down next to me hugging me close. "We will think of something."She said as she hugged my trembling form. I could not stop my cries. I knew what was going to happen next." She reassured main but I think it was just to reassure her own self. Her words were meant more for her than they were meant for me.

" I—"

" Princess?" We both froze immediately. " Have you found the anklet? If you are done we would like for you to come out immediately. The queen has asked us to escort you to her as soon as possible."

My eyes went to the lock attached to the door. Thankfully Marilyn har attached it which meant that we had a few moments before they would come and capture us and then decide how they were going to kill me.

"Princess?" The man knocked again and Merylin’s grip tightened on me as she was ready to fight and resist me being taken away. "Are you there? Kindly acknowledge."

"What now?" I turned to her for advice. "What do you think we should do Marilyn? I don’t know what to do now." I sniffed and choked slightly but she patted my back lightly.

For a moment I noticed that she had some kind of gauge on her neck. This was the first time I had noticed her as she was wearing a full collar dress required by the wedding standards. It was slightly red in colour. Was Merylin bleeding? I frowned and narrowed my eyes at it.

"Break the door!" The man commanded and we heard a a loud bang as if someone just pushed against the door very hard. The first time the door did not move but the second time we could feel it rattle. They moved, but slightly. The hinges stop them from breaking apart but I knew that they won’t be holding the dose for long. And the Guards would also increase the force eventually.

"I am dying tonight." I whispered in uncertainty. Perhaps it would be better for me if I had just made up my mind regarding the whole matter. Soon they were going to break the door and take Me away.
