The Princess Kidnapping System Made Me OP-Chapter 72: It’s Hard to Explain
Chapter 72: It’s Hard to Explain
"So you’re saying the dragon that kidnapped you has been arrested by the city guard?" Mira asked, looking confused.
"Exactly, and I need you to help him get out. He offered to pay for the damages, but they said it’s an ancient relic."
Mira placed her hand on Esme’s forehead. "You don’t seem to have a cold, but you keep talking nonsense."
’How could the city guards apprehend a dragon?’
Esme shook her hand off and frowned. "Wise doesn’t just go around bearing people up for no reason. He’s not like most dragons..."
"I see..." Mira paused and observed her closely. "So you befriended the dragon that kidnapped you?"
Once again, Mira was surprised by Esme’s words. Not only did she speak so candidly of him, she was also actively defending him.
Esme did seem to be telling the truth. But a calm dragon? That was nearly impossible. Dragons were proud, brash and volatile in nature.
’I’ll have to see him for myself.’
The girl next to Esme stepped forward. "Are you going to help us or not? Esme might not know this because she’s new, but Wise has two sides.
She is right, he is not like most dragons. Now he plans on being calm while focusing on our business in the city. But...
He’s still a dragon isn’t he? And all dragons have their innate dragon nature."
A malicious smile appeared on her face as she took a step closer. "What happens if your guard somehow manages to piss him off? How do you think this will end?"
’This one looks gentle on the outside but is actually quite devious.’ Mira mused.
She was subtly threatening her in an attempt to make her act, by insinuating that Wise could go on a rampage in the city.
And if that were to happen...
Mira smiled. "I don’t think we have been introduced. I am Mira Stornwel, First Princess of the kingdom of Domum."
The young woman curtsied. "Freya Ashborne of the noble house of Ashborne."
’Ashborne?’
Mira was slightly taken aback. The house of Ashborne was a proud noble house that was well known among nobles and royals, especially because of their strength.
’How did a dragon manage to get a princess of that house?’
’This Wise person is getting even more interesting...’ Mira stretched her hand and took Freya’s hand in a handshake.
But just as she let go of her, she felt the house slowly begin to rumble. The teacups on the table were shaking, and the sound of rattling metal filled their ears.
’Maybe he might just help me resolve this little problem. But first, I will need to know if I can trust him.’
"Let’s go see your dragon friend Esme."
Esme chuckled and tapped her shoulder repeatedly. "Now you’re talking!"
The three girls left the castle through the back entrance, where a carriage was already waiting for them.
"Why are we taking the back?" Esme asked, watching as Mira glanced around cautiously, that same arcane hammer in her hands.
Mira waved her hand dismissively. "Nothing really, I don’t just want my old man to see us. He’ll end up sending a convoy..." She visibly cringed.
Then she paused and turned to stare at Esme. "Or worse, he’ll send Alhaitham."
After confirming that the coast was clear. The three of them hurried over to the carriage, and Mira pulled it open—
"Ahh!"
Mira suddenly jumped back, her eyes wide in shock.
"Alhaitham?!"
The old man was already in the carriage, sipping a cup of tea...
Just as the door was opened, he turned to her and smiled. "Come in Princess." He tapped the seat beside him.
"It’s rude to keep a dragon waiting."
Mira glared at him. "You were spying on us?"
The old man shook his head and placed his cup on a small rack by his side, something he had personally added to the carriage.
"I didn’t spy on you, I simply listened in on your conversation l—"
"That is what spying is!" Mira huffed angrily before entering the carriage. "Whatever, let’s go."
*
From what Esme had told her, Wise had been arrested at the gates of the city, meaning that he was most likely kept in their temporary holding.
Breaking a relic was indeed a serious crime, punishable by seven years imprisonment.
But Mira cared little for those sentinels, the important ones were holed up in her workshop for further study.
Any sentry flying around in the city that isn’t relatively new is just an old piece of junk she threw out.
But of course, she was not going to say that, not when she could get something far better from this little situation.
The journey to the city gate took about fifteen minutes before the carriage was finally pulled to a stop.
Alhaitham got out first and offered Mira a hand, after which he helped Esme and Freya out as well.
The knight in front of the station immediately ran up to her the moment he saw her.
When he reached her, he went down to a knee and placed a hand on his chest. "My princess, we were not expecting you."
Mira glanced at the building, thankfully it was still in one piece.
"I did not announce my meeting as it was a matter of urgency. I hear a sentry was destroyed?"
The guard paled as he heard her words. "I’m sorry my princess, I know how much you cherish your—"
"Where is the prisoner?"
His metallic armour groaned as he rose to his feet and pointed towards the station. "This way my princess."
The man began walking towards the building, when he glanced back at the princess. "It was one of your sentries that caught—"
Boooom!
Mira covered her head with her hands, shrinking back as the door suddenly exploded outward, as a knight’s body slammed through it.
The airborne knight flew straight into their knight, slamming him to the floor, the two of them covered in dust and debris
Mira stared at him wide eyed, gripped her hammer tightly and ran into the station.
The inside of the station was a mess...
Countless knights had been beaten to a pulp, their swollen faces being a clear indicator.
The prison cell by the side of the room had been ripped open, the iron bars bent at awkward angles... It looked like it had been pulled by bare hands and not any ability.
Standing in the centre of the mess, holding a knight by the collar, was a handsome man with a fierce presence about him.
He dropped the knight when he noticed her presence and turned to stare at her. That was when she saw his eyes...
Piercing blue eyes with slit like pupils.
Someone had pissed off the dragon.
