The Princess Kidnapping System Made Me OP-Chapter 71: Old Friend
Chapter 71: Old Friend
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
Mira stood in front of a large table, hammering away at a large piece of molten metal with a strange hammer.
It was a strange sight considering that the slender girl was lifting a hammer that even hardened warriors would fail to lift, but that was because of the special nature of this hammer.
Clang!
The hammer had a wooden handle, and a large squared head with swirly patterns on its face, the entire thing covered in runes.
Sparks flew out of the hammer, the lightning dancing in the air before fizzling away. The runic symbols ignited, and fire burst forth, pouring atop the sheet of metal as she struck it once more.
Mjolnir, often referred to as the god hammer, was an artifact that had been recovered from the Skentic ruins years ago, a gift passed down by her father to her.
It was a weapon of war, one that could level battlefields in the right hands. But for Mira...
It was a tool.
With one final hit, the piece of metal finally to the right shape.
Mira wiped off the sweat from her face and lifted her goggles to observe her masterpiece.
"Perfect!" She smiled, staring at the piece of metal.
Finally done, she leaned onto the table, heaved a sigh and lazily glanced around.
Mira was in a dark room, the only light present being the flames of the burning furnace. There was a stuffy smell of ash and smoke lingering in the air, mixed with the salty smell of sweat.
She stared at the piece of metal for a while longer before frowning.
"Will this be enough?"
She looked to the side of her wall and sighed. Placed at the edge of her workshop were several colossal sentinels.
There were large humanoid knights wielding colossal battle hammers, iron golems that possessed devastating strength, destroyer drones that could snipe enemies from a distance and transport units that served a support role.
For the past couple of years, this had been her life’s work, building an army of golems so that she could one day reclaim—
The door to her workshop was suddenly pulled open, allowing a rush of bright light to enter the room.
Mira suddenly collapsed to the floor, blinded by the light and hissed while covering her eyes.
"Alhaitham! The lights, cut off the lights!"
At her doorway was an old man with an astute posture and an air of grace surrounding him. He was in a well ironed black suit that had been tailored to perfection and had both hands folded at his back.
Alhaitham did not heed the princess’s instructions, instead, she frowned and watched the girl.
She was caked in soot from head to toe, and her shirt was bathed in sweat, the normally white shirt now brown from dirt.
Amber eyes that were once vibrant were now wary, watery from the heat, and her dark hair was a fuzzy mess.
She looked like a servant, no, their servants looked far better, she looked like a factory worker trying to survive on a daily wage.
The butler reigned in his anger. "Princess..."
Mira frowned and rose to her feet. "I told you not to call me that, I am the queen."
Alhaitham frowned. "Do you intend to dethrone your own father?"
"I know he may be a bit... forgive my words, overbearing sometimes, but it would be far too cruel—"
Mira used a pair of tongs to lower the hot metal into a water basin, the sound of the bubbling water making it impossible to hear him.
Alhaitham sighed.
"He’s here to see you..."
"That assassin friend of yours seems giddy for whatever reason."
Mira paused and glanced at him. "Has he found someone?"
The butler nodded.
"But there is something even stranger my princess. You have a visitor."
"I told you I’m not seeing anyone." Mira dispelled her hammer, the large tool vanishing into thin air, and wiped her fingers on a rag.
"I believe you’ll change your mind when you hear who it is."
Mira scoffed and was about to leave the shop when Alhaitham added, "It’s Princess Esme. The missing Princess of Frenum.
She froze and glanced at him, her expression serious. "Secure the castle and summon the imperial knights."
***
The castle in Domum was large and grandiose, a sprawling complex that contained more than a hundred rooms, had a local garrison and a field that spanned several meters.
In one of those rooms were Esme and Freya...
The living room was painted white with golden highlights and runic patterns drawn on the walls.
There was a large overhead chandelier, glittering with golden lights produced by rare gold magic crystals.
The chairs were luxurious and soft, so much so that the moment Esme and Freya sat down, they almost sank into the cushions.
’This is just too big...’ Esme thought as she stared at the room. She was a noble, and yet she was surprised, this only went to show just how wealthy Domum actually was.
"The princess will be with you soon..."
That was what the butler they met had told them before leaving them to their own devices in the vast space.
"How did you say you know her again?" Freya asked, her back relaxing deeply in the chair.
Esme took a sip from the coffee they had been given and relaxed. "I met her when they visited Frenum for the harvest festival. My dad introduced the family to us and we hit it off from there."
She paused as she remembered a few things from her past. "She is not like most girls though, she’s a bit odd."
Freya cocked a brow. "Odd? What do you mean—"
The door to the living room creaked open and a young woman stepped in. She had chin-length black hair that was neatly combed, a toned body and strangely... what looked like a war hammer was resting on her shoulders.
Esme chucked. "Well, there is a reason they call her the golem princess..."
Mira hurriedly walked up to Esme and hugged her as she stood up.
"Esme! I thought I would never see you again after what happened." She cried as she hugged her a bit too tightly, restricting her air flow.
Mira then pulled away and frowned, despite her serious expression, the crease on her forehead made her look too cute to be taken seriously.
"Don’t worry, you will never see that dragon again. I already have my imperial knights mobilized..."
"The dragon buster will soon be ready as well. Tonight, we go dragon hunting..."
"?!"
