The President is Being Shameless Again-Chapter 357: Pleasant Words Could Be Said By Just About Anyone.
“I’ll always be this good toward her,” Wei Zilin said. His delicate eyebrows arched attractively when he was earnest, and his facial features looked like it chiseled into marble. “To be honest, I’m not a patient person. I’m actually only this patient toward Moyan. You’d understand if the two of you see my usual attitude toward others. So, I know I’ll always be very patient and understanding to her. Don’t worry, all the good I can give to others in my life, I’ll give it to her first. Even if she becomes stubborn in the future due to me spoiling her, I won’t be impatient. On the contrary, I’ll be pleased as she’ll only have become that way because of me.”
Wei Zilin’s mouth curved up into a warm smile. He said in a clear and melodious voice, filled with the emotions of love and inseparableness, “I’ll gain the greatest sense of fulfillment from this, and I’ll never be impatient with her.”
Xu Qingrui was silent as Wei Zilin poured him another glass of liquor.
Xu Qingrui gave him a glance and gulped down the alcohol. Then, he said, “Pleasant words could be said by just about anyone. Moyan, what do you think?”
Xu Moyan had no other thoughts on this. She had decided to firmly believe in Wei Zilin for this lifetime. She was not considering the fact that Wei Zilin might not keep his promise as she had decided to stay faithful to him even if he were to change in the future.
She felt a sudden pang of sadness as she thought about the possibility that he might really change later on. However, she turned her head to look at Wei Zilin’s fresh and elegant face that was looking right back at her and the pain that she was feeling instantly disappeared. She felt more relieved and could not help but laugh at herself. It was truly an unnecessary worry.
He looked at her as if he would devote himself single-mindedly to her, and her heart started to fill with trust and confidence in him.
If Wei Zilin was not trustworthy, would there be anyone else out there worth trusting?
Xu Moyan slowly smiled. Even though she was speaking to Xu Qingrui, her gaze remained fixed on Wei Zilin. “Dad, I believe him.”
At this moment, it was evident that Wei Zilin would no longer care to serve him. Despite this, he was not angry about it as he poured a glass of liquor for himself. Then, he gulped it down and heaved a loud sigh before saying, “Alright, since you said so, then I have no other objections.”
Wei Zilin’s heart was filled with delight, but he maintained a neutral expression on his face. The only giveaway was that his pupils were shining so brightly that even the stars in the sky paled in comparison.
“Do treat her well in the future,” Xu Qingrui said. He was feeling melancholic.
After all, his daughter was getting married soon.
He was anxious when she had no boyfriend, but now, he had bit hit by a one-two punch. He found out that she did indeed have a boyfriend, and the boyfriend had asked for her hand in marriage the very next day. He felt like he had no time to recover as he reeled with a slight feeling of unwillingness.
“Dad, I won’t let you regret anything. Mom, as well. Just rest assured and hand Moyan over to me.” Wei Zilin said solemnly.
Xu Qingrui and Li Lanying were both taken aback by this.
It was slightly unsettling for him to suddenly call them mom and dad.
Xu Moyan kept silent and did not tell them that Wei Zilin had already started calling them mom and dad well before coming over. Also, there was the fact that he could not help for stutter when he called them aunty and uncle instead.
She could not help but wonder if Wei Zilin was just bringing up the topic of marriage earlier just so that he could refer to them as mom and dad.
“Dad, mom, it’s only half an hour by high-speed train from B City to Jin City. Moyan and I will often come back on weekends in the future, so there’s no need for her to wait for a long vacation before seeing you guys again.” Wei Zilin promised.
They initially thought that their daughter was about to become another’s soon and were depressed about it. However, they had unexpectantly learned that their daughter would be returning home often from now on.
In the past, Li Lanying did not want Xu Moyan to rush home whenever possible as she would be exhausted from living in B City. She wanted her to relax on the weekend; not to mention it would worry her if Xu Moyan was always on the road by herself.
Now that Wei Zilin would be following her, and she had someone to take care of her, there was nothing that Li Lanying needed to worry about anymore. Thus, she immediately nodded. “Good, alright.”
After finishing their meal, Li Lanying noticed Xu Moyan’s shock at Wei Zilin’s sudden proposal. It was evident that she had been equally clueless about it.
She had the intention to let the two talk it out, so she asked Xu Qingrui to come into the kitchen and help her clean up.
Wei Zilin held Xu Moyan’s hand and looked at her with a burning concentration. “Are you unhappy with my unexpected proposal?”
Xu Moyan shook her head. “No, I’m just flabbergasted.”
Wei Zilin chuckled lightly. “Does it feel too unromantic seeing as how there’s no grand proposal?”
“No. I’ve never given much thought to these sort of things, so I don’t feel too disappointed.” Xu Moyan answered honestly.
Wei Zilin immediately became unhappy with her answer, “You never thought that I would marry you?”
Xu Moyan knew that he had misunderstood, and quickly explained, “It’s not that. We just haven’t been together for long. Even if you were going to propose, I just never thought that it would be this soon, which is why I haven’t even thought about it yet. I… I really want to marry you.”
Even though she was nervous, she said what she was feeling with such thick-skin. As a result, an expression of incredible satisfaction spread across Wei Zilin’s face. When Xu Moyan saw this, she shyly raised her fist up and was about to pound it on his chest.
However, before her fist even reached his chest, he had already wrapped it around the palm of his hand. Then, he quickly pulled her into his embrace and lowered his head to kiss her.
Xu Moyan’s eyes grew wide. Her parents were in the kitchen and they could come back at any moment. How could he be so bold?
Feeling that she was struggling bashfully, Wei Zilin loosened his grip a little and explained with a chuckle, “Mom and dad wanted to give us space so that we’ll have a good chat. Think about it, how many pots and pans do they really have to clean that they haven’t returned up until now?”
Nevertheless, Xu Moyan was still embarrassed and pushed him away.
Wei Zilin did not force her either. Then, he said in a clear and mellow voice that carried a somewhat happy tone, “They seem to know that I haven’t told you about the proposal before this and were probably afraid that you’d be unhappy about it. That’s why they’re giving us the chance to talk it through.”
Xu Moyan wanted to hold back her laughter, but she could not. “What could I possibly be upset about?”
Once the two finished discussing it thoroughly, Xu Qingrui and Li Lanying immediately popped back into the room.
Considering that Wei Zilin had only just arrived from Li City yesterday, he must have been unusually tired. Hence, everyone went to bed early that night.
Everyone seemed to be in high spirits the next day as the four of them sat in the living room with the television turned on. The volume was slightly lowered so that they could still hear the sound of it without it interrupting their conversations.
Li Lanying had prepared a platter of fruit and brewed a pot of tea which she brought to them as they sat around chatting whilst watching the TV.
Suddenly, Xu Moyan remembered what was happening on Weibo and wanted to know the current situation. So, she picked up her phone and opened up Weibo.
According to her notifications, there were still a lot of comments and forwards on their posts. She went through them quickly and saw that there were still some fans of Mo Xiaoqing that were reluctant to let it go. They continued to post the same words that had been repeated countless times before. It was just that it had become so redundant that a lot of other people were fed up with it, causing it to lose its persuasiveness.
As a result, Yu Linling’s fans no longer stood aside quietly to watch her being bullied by Mo Xiaoqing’s fans. So, they banded together with her fans, ensuring that Mo Xiaoqing’s fans had no strength to retort anymore.
Throughout this, Xu Moyan was a little curious about Mo Xiaoqing’s reaction to the whole thing after being beaten to a pulp online. Did she not plan to step forth and say something to her fans? Or did she just plan to allow them to continue causing a fuss?
Hence, she searched for Mo Xiaoqing’s Weibo account and looked through her page. Upon opening her profile, she found that Mo Xiaoqi had posted something new exactly twenty minutes ago.
Mo Xiaoqing: “It’s true that I really did want to dub for Qing Siyu. Nevertheless, I’ll not force it since it’s not meant to be. I have already given my blessings, but why can’t all of you just give it up? I gave my sincere blessings, but in exchange, I was scorned for it. What did I do wrong? Can I not be the one that carries this pot?”1
Unsurprisingly, the comments below consisted of her fans comforting her.
Perhaps the emotional intelligence of her fans was lacking, as they resorted to belittling Xu Moyan whilst comforting her. It was as if Mo Xiaoqing could not be reassured without demeaning Xu Moyan.
Afterward, someone who claimed to be one of Mo Xiaoqing’s friend in real life also reposted Mo Xiaoqing’s Weibo post.
Aunt Meatball: “I don’t understand why such a big company and some internet celebrities just can’t seem to let a young lady live well. Is it wrong for Xiaoqing to fight for a role that she wanted? She did not use any nasty means and simply expressed her desire for dubbing rightfully. Even if ultimately it turned out this way, or she was made aware of the reason that she was not chosen for the role, she would most certainly feel disappointed over it. However, Xiaoqing remained poised as ever and extended her well wishes for the dubbing of the game. Where on earth did you see that Xiaoqing was scheming against you guys? Instead, all of you gang up to bully a young girl. She didn’t have a background like Silent Words, nor did she have a boyfriend like Yu Linling. She relied on herself and took one step at a time to achieve her present success. Was that wrong of her? She’s a person that reached this stage through her own efforts and righteousness. She did not rely on any men, nor did she use any shortcuts. What right you have to insult her?”
“So many of you bullied Xiaoqing and made her cry about it, so I feel only distress when I see her this way. Has Xiaoqing even said any words in retaliation toward all of you? She only retorted once, did she not? On the contrary, it was you lot that gathered so many people, some of which with a noticeable background, to bully her! As a friend of hers, I just had to say something to help her. I’ve never seen such a girl who was as kind and hardworking as Xiaoqing. She took no shortcuts, she’s not vain, she did not seek powerful connections, and had always persevered on her own. Someone here had to depend on her man to get the top, so what right does she have to challenge Xiaoqing? You aren’t even fit to lace her boots! She gave her blessings in reply to your curses. Netizens all have eyes, and they’re all looking! Xiaoqing, we can’t lower ourselves to their level. They’re not worth it!”
Xu Moyan frowned as she read through this; the more she read it, the more ridiculous it seemed. However, she admired that Mo Xiaoqing was quite good at concealing her true character. She really did not say much, other than to give blessings to Massacre OL. One look was enough to know that her words were insincere, but even so, it did its job in not providing anything that could be used against her.
“What’s wrong?” Wei Zilin’s magnetic voice was heard. Xu Moyan looked up and noticed he was approaching, causing her ear to turn scalding hot. She also felt the heat emitted from his body as he leaned against her shoulder.
Truthfully, she was feeling a little annoyed after seeing the remarks made by Mo Xiaoqing and her friend. However, once she heard Wei Zilin’s voice and felt the heat from his body, she calmed down. Her mind became smooth and steady, akin to sunshine that painted over a tranquil lake.
Xu Moyan said nothing and handed her phone to Wei Zilin so that he could read it too.
Wei Zilin only took a minute or two as he roughly skimmed through the content. Then, he proceeded to snicker aloud.
He noticed Xu Moyan was looking over, and he used his bamboo-like finger to gently caress the hair beside her ear. He did not tuck it behind her ear and merely used his fingers to comb through her hair repeatedly. The hair near her ear bounced about in accordance with the movements of his fingertips. It continuously brushed against her ear, tickling her slightly.
Xu Moyan did not hold back and lifted her hand up to scratch her ear.
Wei Zilin chuckled lightly, letting out a smooth sound as if jade chopsticks were used to stir a glass of warm water. The warmth of this sound was slowly simmered in her heart.
“Don’t worry. We expected them to use such a trick as it’s not uncommon. In fact, if you think about it, after a slight mishap from a celebrity, there will surely be a so-called friend from an outer circle that shows up to protest a sort of unfairness.” Wei Zilin slowly explained.
Xu Moyan suddenly recalled that there was a period when a celebrity had a brawl with others. Back then, a friend had also come forth to prove their innocence.
Wei Zilin was an expert, so he must have thought of a way to respond to such a trick from much earlier on.
“Did you think that it’s over after a single afternoon.” Wei Zilin asked as he smiled.
“Was it not over?” Xu Moyan was quite surprised. She was not an expert in public relations, and even when she lived with Lin Chu, she had only just scratched the surface of it all. “I thought Lu Lixin went over to look for Nan Jingheng, and the two had wrapped up the discussion, only to make the announcement in the afternoon.”
“They’re waiting for Mo Xiaoqing to lose her cool. Lu Lixin already has a handful of Mo Xiaoqing’s dark secrets up his sleeves. They’re waiting for Mo Xiaoqing to actually verbalize these things out before they beat her at her own game. This way, she will have nothing else to retort.” Wei Zilin explained as he looked at Weibo sparsely. “Wait another hour, they’re letting the news ferment before they fight back.”
Sure enough, after an hour, a few less famous, as well as a few slightly well-known CVs from the internet voice acting community stepped forward to say a few words.
Xu Moyan did not see Wei Zillin contacting Lu Lixin. Because of this, she immediately knew that he relied on their personal experience and they already shared tacit understanding of how to handle a situation.
Lonely Sail Distant Shadow: “After watching today’s farce, let me add a few words. I know this person, Mo Xiaoqing. She did not go down the path of a commercial voice actor, and she directly went down the route of an internet voice actor. She had a smaller role back then and was known as Sweet Wasabi. As soon as she went into the community, she clung on to more influential people whenever she could. Her luck was good, and she soon entered Fan Hua Sings Dubbing Agency. Everyone in the community knew that the vice president of Fan Hua, Bie Zhi, was a kind lady that took care of the newcomers inside and outside the agency.”
