Chapter 142: The blazing sun

The next day, just as the sun was peaking over the horizon, seven people teleported into the office building they had commandeered. The office, like the rest of the Eyrie, was at an ideal temperature. ๐˜ง๐“‡โ„ฏโ„ฏ๐‘คโ„ฏ๐˜ฃ๐“ƒโ„ด๐“‹๐‘’๐‘™.๐‘๐˜ฐ๐‘š

"Everyone ready?" Aiden asked, voice calm.

They were about to walk into an inferno. The clothes on their bodies were the only thing standing between them and certain death. According to the readings of the base, the temperature outside reached highs of 80 degrees Celsius.

The humans of this world had now become stronger. Their bodies were more resilient, but there were still many people who died from the heat. The thought crossed Emberโ€™s mind more than once that they were being weeded out.

She didnโ€™t dwell on it and thought of the task at hand. She had bought suits from the CE. It costs more than she expected, but the four days of CL just her and Aiden produced were more than enough to cover it.

It wasnโ€™t armour in the natural sense. It was more like a second skin. It was a full-body suit that clung to them. Wearing it regulated their body temperature. The only problem was that it was somewhat opaque, and the grey only covered the necessary parts.

To others, it would look like they were walking around naked, and the only places covered were the genitals and chest. When Ember first saw it, her mouth dropped open. It obviously didnโ€™t need to be like this, but it was.

What made it better, or worse, was that she could peel away the grey. So it would reveal the not-so-modest parts of her body. Not everyone could rip it off. It only came off with the suit ownerโ€™s touch. It is marked according to the sigil.

Aiden stood with his arms crossed, the suit highlighting his build and bulge. He wasnโ€™t particularly thrilled about the outfit, but if it works, he doesnโ€™t mind. One thing he does like about it is the way it looks on Ember.

He canโ€™t help it when his eyes roam her body. From her full breasts to her round, jiggly ass. The bulge in the suit ends up becoming more pronounced the more he looks. And he isnโ€™t ashamed in the slightest.

Nearby, Alex was fidgeting. Probably a little uncomfortable in the suit. Aiden patted his shoulder and pointed towards Adrienne.

"Your wife looks great, focus on that, and you wonโ€™t care about anything else."

He looked over to see Adrienne fussing with the body suit. Her pussy lips were prominent. He was enjoying looking at her camel toe.

"This feels...weird. Wearing so little to go out into the blazing sun. Itโ€™s contradictory." Sarah ran a hand down her arm as she said it.

Everyone, including Ember, was wondering how the suit would protect them. But it was a CE product, so she trusted it.

"We arenโ€™t the same as before. Our bodies have been enhanced. We might not notice it because itโ€™s become a norm, but we are much stronger now than when the apocalypse started. We have become bolder and stronger. We are nothing like the people we were before. Well...some of us."

Ember peered over at Ivan. Still the same hooligan as always. He hasnโ€™t changed. Well, maybe becoming more unbridled, but thatโ€™s about it.

"I resent that," Ivan said when he found Ember glancing over at him.

"You two, donโ€™t start. We need to go."

Aiden walked towards the office door. The rest followed him, tentatively.

The door opened with a hiss. It sounded like pressure was being released. Standing at the entrance, they expected to feel the heat immediately. Rather than heat, all they felt was a rush of cool air.

Ember had been worried that since the suit didnโ€™t cover their heads, they would have a hard time. But she realized she felt refreshed just standing here. But then it could be because they havenโ€™t stepped out of the office.

Aiden took the first step forward. The suit started to shimmer. The thing Ember had been worried about didnโ€™t happen. He didnโ€™t start sweating. Rather, the shimmer went directly above his head, creating a protective barrier.

Seeing this, the rest breathed a sigh of relief. Ember stepped out next and held Aidenโ€™s arm. She grinned at him. The rest followed.

"Damn, this is amazing!" Ivan had one food in and another out.

Marcus nodded in agreement, staring at a piece of melted plastic. Adrienne nodded, looking around. Alex draped himself on Adrienne as if to test whether they would be hot if they got close to each other. Sarahโ€™s brow was furrowed as she looked around at the now wasteland.

"Donโ€™t frown." Marcus pressed lightly on her forehead.

"But this place..."

"I know. You havenโ€™t been out for a long time. But donโ€™t get sentimental. This isnโ€™t the time for it." Marcus ran a hand through Sarahโ€™s hair.

Ember smiled when she saw that even with the shimmer, they would still touch each other. She immediately groped Aiden. He didnโ€™t budge, just watched her touch him. He was getting hard, and she didnโ€™t seem to care. Just grinning at him.

"Do you want to test whether the suits still work if we fuck right here?"

His tone was dangerous, but Ember felt tempted. She shook her head, thinking she might be able to shake the dirty thoughts away. But the little tingle she felt told her she wasnโ€™t successful.

She looked up at Aiden with wide eyes and bit her lip. Not able to resist, Aiden leaned in to kiss her. He was only able to give her a peck before someone interrupted.

"Alright, lovebirds. If I canโ€™t get some, neither can you."

Of course, it was Ivan. They had left Cassia to take care of things. Since she was always with Ivan, although she didnโ€™t have a directorate sigil, she was close enough to help a little while they went out for the day.

Ivan had been grumbling about it ever since he heard the decision.

"Alright, letโ€™s go," Aiden replied, shoving Ivan aside.

Outside, the sight of melted plastics and metals was everywhere. The purple sky and orange sun were glaring. But the team felt especially light. Their bodies were at a constant temperature. No matter how hot the sun was, they didnโ€™t feel it.

As they walked, they inspected their surroundings. It was mainly empty, with the exception of the melted parts. Then, they started seeing people.
