The last Vampire with the Hero summoner system: I get 5x their powers-Chapter 69: Sepherdia
The safety I wanted from the Nocthra Empire could most likely be provided by beast kins and Pazuzu.
Alphas were at the captain equivalent of the church, so there surely should be higher figures as strong as Alyndra or stronger.
Temporarily, what I need is the Veil of Awakening, which awakens one’s Arcana core, the vampire version. I need to train and learn to use all my skills properly, with probably mastering a weapon.
I learned a lot from experiencing so much combat back at the Mari Swan already, but it’s nothing compared to even someone like Kobi.
With that in mind, the best choice here was to follow them and at least learn the basics of the world before going rogue and tracking former Holy Pillar, Luci.
...
"This is our home, Sheperdia. The only Empire in the massive continent of Shepherity."
Louise spoke without apparent emotion, pointing at the far end of the beautiful grassy plains we had been traversing for the last forty minutes at a leisure pace.
I nodded along, noticing two massive wooden doors connected to towering stone walls. The sheer size and length of the walls reminded me of the Great Wall of China.
"We are surrounded by the Devil’s Palace, the deepest green forest in the world, housing Onis at the highest grades ever assigned to Onis. Apocalyptic, and then Mythical. The same grade Pazuzu was assigned when he was alive."
Louise continued as we walked. Zhenny had woken up too and was staring at me with killing intent, held tightly by Ren so as not to straight up attack me. I could only smile awkwardly.
But this place... Are we sure some random monster able to be capable of destroying the entire world won’t just walk in from the forest?
As if reading my thoughts, Louise explained, "The kin born in the Empire of Sheperdia can never be attacked by an Oni roaming the forests."
"We are born with a secret seal engraved on our souls. That’s how we have been freely using the abundant resources in the Hell Palace exclusively.
Otherwise, travel is impossible through it without teleportation-like means." So, we are the only ones in danger. Maybe inside the walls is also safe like them.
Suge nodded. "Even the Velmoria Empire’s strongest Divine Generals, with the toughest hero organizations, famously failed to explore the forest, barely retreating."
"When we get inside, don’t leave the walls without a beast kin by your side." Louise warned everybody not beast kin.
"What will happen to us now?" A blonde-haired man with pale skin turned dark because of mud suddenly asked, prompting all the other slave escapees to look up at Louise expectantly.
They all seemed very calm and even grateful in this new place. Without the Alphas, Kobi, and Zhenny’s help, escape was impossible after all.
"You can live here, work, or buy properties like a normal citizen. We will provide food and housing for now, so don’t worry."
Then Louise’s voice deepened. "If you wish to go back to your home, we can arrange that in three days after you recover. But all memories of the layout and secrets of Sheperdia will be removed."
The blonde-haired man’s face instantly darkened. The other slaves also had similar expressions. Well, it did sound scary if the only options were staying in a foreign place or someone meddling with your mind.
I was probably an exception to this... hopefully.
We were right in front of the towering wooden doors, surrounded by walls that touched the cloudy sky.
There was also a much smaller, six-foot-wide and in length door at the right bottom of the massive door.
It was guarded by two men with dog-like ears and tails, adorned in black bear fur robes that still revealed their upper body muscles aesthetically.
As they noticed Louise, they instantly smashed their long silver spears into the ground, sticking them in it as they got on one knee, lowering their heads.
"Sebad welcomes the Alphas!" The one on the right spoke.
Louise barely acknowledged the guards as he walked through the door.
We followed. When I got closer to the wooden doors, I realized these towering doors were nothing like wood.
The woody color was too shiny and unnatural, soft like rubber to the touch but as thick as a bank vault. Also, I knew there was no way I could affect this door in any way, even if I attacked with everything I had.
"Laso, make all the necessary reports to Chief. Suge, take care of everything else." Louise said without turning back, backhandedly pointing in our direction when he mentioned everything else.
Both men instantly slammed their chests.
"Take care." Suge muttered softly. Louise lowered his head. Then his body was gone.
I was still looking at the "wooden" doors when, with one glance of [Eye of Sanguine], I felt my body tremble. The wood had an Arcana signature.
A color signature so brightly white. It was like I was staring at the sun from a meter’s distance. I squinted my eyes, turning the skill off instantly. Just looking at it might blind me for a while.
As I was thinking, my body stiffened when I heard a woman’s audible whimper-like sob. It was Ren. She was covering her face with both her hands, not wanting to show any tears, but they still leaked through her fingers.
Zhenny tightly held her hand. Kobi had placed his hand on her head, rubbing it gently. Poor girl.
I wonder how the traders caught her. If she didn’t leave this continent, it shouldn’t be possible. She looked too young to live alone out of the continent.
"[Suneater... Lord of Treachery and Protection]." The sudden voice of Suge instantly brought me back to reality. These were the only words I could catch as he spoke in a language I had never heard before.
The way the words sounded was like a mix of Spanish and Urdu, if that was possible.
As I looked past the door to finally see the insides of the kingdom situated in such a green and beautiful place, I froze.
I couldn’t see. I half thought I had blinded myself through the door, but no, that was not the case. I could see behind me, around me. Alya had a similar expression as she glanced at me.
Subaru looked thoughtful.
My confusion was only solved when Kobi, Zhenny, and Ren passed a certain point, and they vanished from my eyes. It wasn’t like I was seeing darkness, but a grassy plain, exactly what was behind me.
But it was odd, as there was cobblestone pavement where the door’s passage we were standing at.
"Don’t worry, he’s working on it." Another Alpha said softly as he pointed at Suge, still muttering in whispers in that unintelligible language.
After a few seconds, a burst of violent energy spread from where Suge stood. Everything froze, as if time had slowed down.
My pupils dilated as the massive stone walls and the door vanished. Yes, just like that, the towering walls that spread out as far as the eye could see vanished.
I looked at Suge, and his head was touching the ground, bowing completely to something.
Sweat covered every part of my back as I finally saw the figure. A bright purple panther-like creature, about the size of a panther too, was glaring suspiciously at us.
"These are the guests Sheperdia would like to welcome, Lord Suneater." Suge said respectfully.
"Not amusing." The panther’s jaw moved. A deep, human-like but much rougher voice escaped its mouth.
The suspicious expression soon turned completely hostile. "Why are Vampires here?"
