The Last Monarch : Unlimited Regeneration-Chapter 69: Royal Palace (Part 6)
Chapter 69: Royal Palace (Part 6)
Leon raised his shield, blocking the ferocious slash from Alvaric. His body was pushed slightly backward, but his eyes remained sharp, unwavering. He pushed forward with his shield, causing Alvaric’s body to stumble slightly. At the same time, he thrust his body forward, ramming his shield into Alvaric’s chest.
With his right hand, he began forming a magic seal. His movements were swift. Moments later, a rumbling sound echoed from the sky, which had suddenly darkened—still mixing with the lingering effects of Alvaric’s sword skill.
Dark clouds gathered and spiraled above the capital, forming a vortex. At its center, a massive magic circle glowed with a bluish hue and moving radiant lines.
Alvaric glanced upward—and narrowed his eyes.
In an instant, the sky roared.
Thooomz!
A massive bolt of lightning struck down at terrifying speed, hitting Alvaric directly. His body was like being rammed by a truck moving at 1,000 KM per second. On top of that, the electric shock was overwhelming. His entire body convulsed and burned.
The ground trembled. The air cracked. The explosion’s sound was deafening.
Alvaric’s body was thrown backward, although he had managed to withstand most of the blow. Even so, sparks of electricity still surged through his body. He fell, unable to move for several seconds, his entire nervous system stunned by the lightning strike.
"That was insane. That felt like divine punishment," Alvaric thought. He was still alive.
Leon slowly lowered his shield, eyes locked on the rising dust. He walked toward Alvaric. The two other generals exchanged glances and nodded. They followed, determined to make sure Alvaric was truly dead.
"Judgment Lightning..." a voice echoed.
Leon, Urkhan, and Aerozar immediately tensed up. They readied their stances. Their assumption was wrong—Alvaric was still alive. This was beyond their expectations. Leon’s attack earlier should’ve been enough to kill a high-level monster. Realizing Alvaric had survived, their expressions turned grim.
"What kind of creature is he?"
Alvaric jumped, dispersing the dust. His body was intact, though his hair was a mess. He did a few warm-up stretches. Once done, he pointed his sword toward Leon. Alvaric grinned widely. His heartbeat quickened with excitement.
"You guys are truly strong opponents. If I didn’t have regeneration, I would’ve died in the first few minutes," he said casually, as if death was never an option.
[New Mission Added]
[Kill at least one of the main generals of the Valantharia Kingdom and stay alive.]
[Reward: 50,000 Evolution Points, one random Legendary Skill, Eye’s of Monarch.]
The new mission ignited Alvaric’s spirit. He didn’t know if he could win, but he would fight with everything he had. Earning fifty thousand evolution points was incredible. It was nearly impossible to obtain something like this again.
And the ’Eye’s of Monarch’ intrigued him. What did it mean? The only way to find out was to complete the mission. He only needed to kill one of the generals standing before him.
Alvaric rubbed his chin. "I should target the weakest among them."
He looked at each of the men in front of him. No matter how much he analyzed, he couldn’t tell who was the weakest. If going by age, it would be the lion-like one, based on the extra wrinkles on his face—but age wasn’t a guarantee of weakness.
Leon noticed Alvaric’s gaze and felt uneasy. "What the hell are you doing, bastard? Don’t look at me like you’re lusting after me!" he snapped.
Alvaric tilted his head. "Ah, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alvaric Zorvok. I am human, not demi-human. Remember my name—because I will be the one to make history in this world. The first to kill a general of the demi-humans."
"You moron? That has happened before. Even a hundred years ago, one of us was slain by a monster in the desert. You’re not the first. And besides... that’s not something you can achieve."
Alvaric smiled. "Oh, interesting. Let’s see whose words turn out to be true—yours or mine."
He shifted into his combat stance, both weapons still in hand. Taking a deep breath, Alvaric dashed straight at Leon—the closest one to him. He leapt and performed a powerful downward slash.
Leon had already prepared his shield. But just as he braced to block, Alvaric suddenly vanished. That startled Leon.
"Got you!" Alvaric shouted.
He lunged with his Crimson Sword Demon, the blade surrounded by swirling blood. Leon didn’t have time to dodge. He clicked his tongue in frustration. He was ready for the worst, but suddenly, a wall of earth rose between him and Alvaric. The thrust was blocked.
Leon managed to turn around and deflect the stab from the Crimson Sword Demon. The blow was deflected. At the same moment, Aerozar appeared and jabbed his spear. Alvaric leaped backward.
His eyes were sharp. "You guys are so damn annoying," Alvaric muttered.
Leon, Aerozar, and Urkhan stood side by side. They were ready to fight with their full strength. The fact that three of them had to face just one man—and were still held back—was not a victory, but an insult to their pride. Especially by someone so unknown.
The three of them nodded. Then they all rushed toward Alvaric.
A fiercer battle was about to unfold. One that would destroy half the capital. This would be the longest fight Aerozar, Leon, and Urkhan had ever experienced. A battle they would never forget. The toughest opponent they had ever faced.
"I’ll kill at least one of you," Alvaric declared.

POV: Maria
On Earth, she had done many things to reopen the previous Rank S portal. After more than a month, Maria had finally succeeded in opening it again. She originally intended to go alone, but several other awakened insisted on joining.
Behind her stood dozens of awakened from the Hollow Fang Association, one of the elite guilds known for having many high-rank awakened. Leading them was their very own guild master, Dion Ravager—a tall man with white hair, a blank expression, and two massive axes strapped to his back.
Beside him, Lisse, the treasurer and illusion-binding mage, calmly checked a list of supplies. She was making sure everything was in order. Both were Rank S awakened.
"Are you sure about going in there?" Dion asked.
Maria nodded. "The coordinates and magic pattern match. This leads to Alvaric’s world."
Upon hearing that, several members of Hollow Fang turned their heads. They were ready to depart, but a few hesitated. A Rank S portal was not a place to be taken lightly. They could die inside, just like the group that Maria had led before.
"If anyone doesn’t want to go, then stay behind. I never asked you to follow me. This is my mission alone," Maria declared.
"We’re comrades, so we help each other," Dion replied firmly.
Maria glanced at him. "Do as you like."
