Chapter 748: 748, I’ll be where you are (3)

"Let’s go," he said in a muted voice.

Ye Jiuliang didn’t ask further and walked out of the flower shop with him by his side.

Li Mochan was the last to leave when suddenly, something seemed to come to him, and he turned back toward the counter.

"Do you have seeds for Champagne Roses here?"

The woman, stunned by the incredible attractiveness of the man before her, snapped out of it and quickly responded, "Yes, please hold on, I’ll get them for you."

Soon, the woman came over with a pack of seeds, no larger than a palm.

"These seeds are all top quality, with a very high germination rate."

"Pack them up for me," Li Mochan said indifferently as he took out his wallet.

After paying, he carried the bag and walked out.

Ye Yuan’s emotions were unstable; Ye Jiuliang didn’t feel at ease letting him drive, so she accompanied him to the car while Mo Chen was asked to drive his vehicle.

Opening the car door, Li Mochan got into the car, and Ye Jiuliang sat in the back. The light was dim, and she didn’t notice the bag in his hand.

On the way back, Ye Jiuliang saw Ye Yuan’s distraught appearance and couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache, "Dad, are you hungry, do you want to eat something?"

Ye Yuan shook his head, turned to look at her, and said, "I’m sorry for making you worry at this late hour."

Ye Jiuliang leaned her head on his shoulder and said, "Dad, we’re family, there’s no need for apologies."

She hooked her arm around his, her voice soft and gentle, "Dad, the baby is still waiting for you to buy him a motorcycle."

Ye Yuan’s dark eyes paused for a moment, and he placed his hand over her head, his fingertips trembling slightly.

"Okay."

He knew she was concerned he might do something reckless, so she was using the baby as an excuse.

Li Mochan glanced at the rearview mirror, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly.

After a night of tumultuous events, they got home close to four in the morning.

"You go to your room to sleep first, I’ll talk with Dad," Li Mochan said, patting Ye Jiuliang’s head and speaking in a lowered voice.

Ye Jiuliang smiled slightly and signaled with her eyes to Mo Chen; the siblings then went to their rooms to rest.

Soon, only Li Mochan and Ye Yuan were left in the living room.

The atmosphere between father-in-law and son-in-law was not as awkward as one might imagine.

"Dad, would you like a drink?" Li Mochan was the first to speak.

Ye Yuan gave him a steady look and nodded slightly.

Li Mochan turned to the liquor cabinet, took out a bottle of alcohol and two glasses.

Sitting down opposite Ye Yuan, Li Mochan uncorked the bottle and filled the glasses.

He placed the full glass in front of Ye Yuan, while his own was only filled halfway.

Ye Yuan picked up the glass and drank fiercely, in a hurry.

In the blink of an eye, the full glass was empty.

Li Mochan didn’t try to stop him; he just watched quietly.

"Dad, do you want to hear something about Ajiu?"

Ye Yuan was taken aback, his gaze shifting to Li Mochan with a questioning look.

"She has been looking for you all these years. The Ye Family believed you to be deceased and held memorial services every year, but Ajiu never went back and strictly forbade anyone to speak of you as if you were gone. Because of this, the people of the Ye Family and those who didn’t know the truth all vilified her, calling her cold-hearted and unfeeling, not even willing to visit on the day of mourning for her own father," Li Mochan stated in a flat tone.

"You know better than anyone what kind of person Ye Lao is. He wouldn’t be kind to Ajiu without a reason. The Ye family has always been scheming behind her back, and with her nature, she would never tolerate repeated provocations and sneak attacks from others. Yet she repeatedly endured, all for your sake and Grandma Ye’s."

Ye Yuan gripped the glass tighter; anger flickered in his eyes.

"The red motorcycle you bought for her, she kept it all along, but it was recently smashed by the old man in a fit of rage," Li Mochan said as he stood up, picked up the bottle, and poured him another full glass.

"She has missed you a lot over these years. The regrets of the past can be slowly mended, including those you owe to your mother-in-law."

As he spoke, he took the bag he had brought from the flower shop and set it beside Ye Yuan’s hand.

Without another word, Li Mochan stepped away, leaving Ye Yuan alone in the living room as he walked upstairs.

Ye Yuan reached for the bag, opened it, and a pack of seeds caught his eye.

It was clearly labeled as Champagne Rose.

He clenched the bag tightly, a mist forming in his eyes until they slowly became moist.

Lan Ning!

...

Upstairs, Li Mochan pushed the door open and entered the bedroom, where the light was still on.

Seeing the person sitting on the bed, a faint smile appeared on Li Mochan’s lips.

"Haven’t you gone to sleep yet?"

He walked over and asked while changing his clothes.

Ye Jiuliang’s lips curved in a smile, "Waiting for you."

After changing into a robe, Li Mochan lifted the covers and sat down beside her.

Ye Jiuliang automatically leaned into his embrace and immediately smelled a faint scent of alcohol, "Have you been drinking?"

"Half a glass," he said.

"What did you and my dad talk about?" Ye Jiuliang asked curiously.

"A secret."

Ye Jiuliang huffed, it was nothing more than consoling her dad, and yet he speaks of secrets.

"Let me ask you something. If it was you, would you listen to someone else’s advice?"

"No," Li Mochan answered without hesitation.

He advised Ye Yuan only because he didn’t want to see his family’s young one sad, and whether it’s seen as selfish, all he wished for was her happiness without worries.

Ye Jiuliang continued the conversation, "Then what would you do?"

Li Mochan rested his forehead against hers, "Wherever you are, that’s where I’ll be."

Ye Jiuliang chuckled and wriggled deeper into his embrace.

...

The next day, Ye Jiuliang once again indulged in lying in bed late.

It wasn’t until nearly noon that her figure appeared.

Ye Jiuliang came downstairs, yawning, with a faint sleepiness still on her face.

Seeing the suitcase next to the sofa, her cold eyes widened slightly.

"Whose suitcase is this?"

Obviously, she had already forgotten the promise she made to Ye Yuan to return to the capital city yesterday.

"Sister Ajiu, dad said we’re going back to the capital today," Mo Chen turned his head to look at her with a smile.

So soon?

Ye Jiuliang was only surprised for a few seconds, then she smiled nonchalantly.

Since there was not much left to do here, returning was fine, as long as he could cheer up.

She looked around the living room, "Where’s dad?"

"He just went back to his room," said Mo Chen.

"Come have breakfast." Li Mochan walked out of the kitchen and frowned upon seeing her in a short sleeve.

"Why not wear long sleeves?" The air conditioning was on inside, the temperature so low, and she had just woken up, what if she caught a cold.

"I’ll be fine, won’t freeze," Ye Jiuliang said with a playful grin.

Hooking his arm, she walked towards the dining room, "Anuo called me just now, saying that Aqian didn’t go back yesterday."

"Let them be," Li Mochan said in a mild tone.

Ye Jiuliang, "..."

Let them be, easy for him to say when he’s the one hiding people.

"How’s Asheng’s injury?"

"With Wei Nan looking after him, it’s nothing serious," he said.

Ye Jiuliang, eating her porridge, suddenly remembered that yesterday, she was so preoccupied with her father’s matter that she didn’t get a chance to visit her grandmother.

She looked up at him, "Have you greeted my uncle about it?"

"I’ll make a call later and ask them to go back to M country today," Li Mochan said.
