The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 116: Promised kiss (3)
Chapter 116: Promised kiss (3)
Tobias sat frozen, stunned by Hazel going through with the kiss. He was so caught off guard by it that he didn’t make a move to go for more before Hazel started to move away from him. "That wasn’t fair, Hazel. Do it again now that I am expecting it."
"Certainly not. I kept my promise and it would be wrong for you to not be satisfied and ask for more, but I am willing to make a new deal with you that involves a kiss. One less shorter," Hazel proposed.
"Name it," Tobias said, willing to do whatever she wanted to get another kiss. This one was too short for him to react and do anything. He had a feeling Hazel purposely did this and rather than being upset, he was excited. "I already agree to it."
Hazel showing her playful or rather devious side would always be fun for him to witness.
"You shouldn’t be so quick to want to do whatever I have in mind. What if I plan to ask that you jump out that window for a kiss? Would you?" Hazel inquired.
"It would not be the first time I have jumped from somewhere this high. Last time there was hay below to help with the landing, but I had a bit of a limp for a week or so," Tobias answered, remembering how he hid it during that time.
"Please don’t ever do something like that again. Especially when you become my husband. I don’t want my marriage to end quickly," Hazel said, looking down at the lack of space between them and then taking a step back. "I want to have a long happy marriage."
"Of course," Tobias responded, taking hold of her right hand to pull her toward him.
Hazel lost her footing because of how sudden it was and fell toward Tobias. Tobias caught her and leaned back on the bed so she would fall on top of him.
"I was wrong."
"To pull my hand? You could have given me a warning," Hazel said, putting her hands to the side of him to help with her weight.
"No, about how hard it might have been for me to get you in this position. Tug on the arm and fall back to the bed. I must make a note of this," Tobias jokingly replied. "Oh, there goes the blush again. Is it too much?" He asked, not wanting his jokes to upset her.
"It is how I expect you to be. I am fine with it as long as you don’t say it when someone else is around. Will you be busy all day?" Hazel asked as it seemed in an hour she did not have much time to spare.
"I will, but I can always find time to join you. To help get you settled in. They rejected my offer to show you around. It still hurts me that they think I will do anything with you when they have so many eyes on us. You will have to endure going around with the head maid. Better you than me," said Tobias.
He didn’t miss the opportunity to once again place his hands on her waist while she was thinking about something.
"She is not so bad if you are not around. She has no reason to clear her throat. Well, she might lose her mind if she were to know that you are here now. I don’t want to take you from what you need to do today much longer," Hazel said, leaning back. freёweɓnovel.com
Tobias closed his eyes.
"Did I hurt you?" Hazel asked, trying to shift her body so she wouldn’t hurt him. "Am I that heavy?"
"No, it was quite the opposite. You should come up a little further, Hazel. Where you are will have me walking around with feelings showing," Tobias said, opening his eyes as he lifted her to be more seated above his waist. "That was easy so you aren’t heavy."
"Now that I look at them a bit closer, I don’t think those dresses will fit. The palace doesn’t know my size, does it?" She asked, hoping it did not because then it would be weird.
She never spoke of her measurements to anyone here unless her mother had sent them or the palace reached out to the dressmaker she always went to.
"Do they expect me to just fit in those dresses or will they be altered for me?"
Tobias knew that she was expected to fit the dresses. A strange requirement the palace had. It was old measurements that the palace thought many years ago that a woman should be as it would make her quite beautiful and like everything else in the palace, that tradition had not changed.
The older Hazel got some would not bother for her to keep those measurements as the older folk would say she no longer had to keep up with her dwindling beauty.
"They will be altered for you. I like the way that you are now so don’t go starving yourself to please anyone. I will speak to my mother in private about it," Tobias said, planning to go straight to her as he knew where she was now.
"Thank you. That brings me back to my deal I wanted to make with you. If you do not find yourself in trouble with the queen or king for seven days, then I will kiss you again without any hesitation and it won’t be a quick kiss on the lips. Your family is a bit terrible at hiding when you are upset with each other so don’t think you can lie to me," Hazel warned.
She would be able to tell from how Tabitha was acting if Tobias had done something to upset her. There might be some frustration taken out on her since Tobias wouldn’t listen.
Tobias smiled, up for the challenge. "You are using your body to control me-"
"No, I don’t like the way that sounds. I am just trying to make up for how not exciting the kiss I promised you was. You trying to say that it was only a joke is still poking at my heart. So, forget about the old deal and try for this one. I will give you a bit of warning that I am going to kiss you this time," Hazel promised.
It was still good to see how she could surprise him and have him momentarily quiet.
"Since it won’t be a kiss you are quick to run away from, I don’t mind if you want to surprise me. Before I go, what will I get if I fail? There should be a punishment and please, if you cannot think of something, I have a few ideas that might sound good, but they would hurt me-"
"Get out of my bedroom," Hazel said, moving to the right to get off of him. He stayed longer than he should have and now he needed to leave before someone might come to see her. "Please see your way out of the window and do not come back."
Tobias turned to lay on his side, admiring the view of Hazel. "I risked my life climbing to see you and you are sending me away. That’s a bit rude."
